I’m celebrating today with a handful of vintage red white & blue quilts!
Makers unknown…just scrappy goodness I’ve saved over the years for inspiration.
Is there anything more classic than red white & blue?
I don’t think so…and I feel a red white & blue fix coming on!
This simple 4 patch 9 patch is a wonderful example of what low contrast sashings can do…I love that the sashings are NOT on the sides, but they are on the top and bottom!
Red white and blue flavored string stars!
Not enough can be said about these…I love the solid red background and the neutral sashings!
How many nights has this been slept under?
Love the variety of blues and reds in this one..and the texture of the quilting in the solid areas.
Framed 9 patch!
Doesn’t this one almost look modern? It’s from around 1900.
Oooh! blue baskets on a red ground! Yes, please!
Ohio Stars –LOVE the shading of this one!
I love you, red white & blue!
Oh, you star-spangled beauty!!
Note the half square triangle border on the bottom!
Always love a patriotic churn dash!
Oh Say, Can You See??
Oh Yes, I can!! Love love love!
And THIS one is mine!
You will find the free pattern for Ohio Stars & Rails under the free patterns tab at the top of the blog!
We are celebrating the 4th in a very low key manner here. Sadie and I have already hiked 2 1/2 miles –The weather is cool, overcast and cloudy, which beats the heat and humidity any day in my book.
Jason left last night, he’s working today so I am planning a relaxing day with some sewing ((have borders to put on!)) and some sitting and binding to whatever movies we decide on.
There is plenty of food.
There WILL be a nap.
Enjoy your 4th however you spend it!
