Quilt-Cam 6/2/2014

holly1
Welcome to Quilt-Cam!  The feed screen is at the bottom of this post, but first a bit of background:

This is Holly’s set up for Quilt-Cam!

Can you see that she is working on the Quilts of Valor Block Drive for Kevin the Quilter??

I’m still so tickled at the overwhelming response and what awesome quilts are being made with donated blocks from all over the globe.

Holly writes:

Hi Bonnie!
Thank you for Quiltcam tonight. I love the quilt you are working on.  I put aside the double wedding ring quilt I am working on to make QOV blocks for Kevin the Quilter.  Such a great project, so glad you shared it with us. Also got out my new-to-me Featherweight, it just seems like the right way to do this.
Thank you for all you do for us.

Thanks for sharing Holly!

And I’m glad you’ve tuned in with me tonight…I’ve pulled out a long forgotten  ((as in BURIED)) UFO and I want to get going on it again.  And sometimes the thought of just what it is going to take, the mindless repetition, the hours of sewing, make it so much better to have you to sew along with.

Recently discovered:

A whole tote of String Spider Web parts!
((Go Hokies!!))

Studio_June2014 007

Some blocks sections just waiting for the trim-up.

Studio_June2014 010

Some blocks all ready done and de-papered!

Studio_June2014 006

Papers cut and kites glue-stick-basted on!

Yes, and Johnny Depp too!  This was a plastic place mat from the Dollar Store, and it has a gridded texture on the reverse side..great for making templates!  You can see my kit template all cut out and marked so I know what it is…

Studio_June2014 008

I’m going to be stringing along on these sections tonight.

Studio_June2014 009

My crumb drawer is overflowing and this is the perfect project to put these pieces to good use!

You can find the free pattern for String Spider Web under the Free Patterns tab at the top of the blog if you feel so encouraged to give this quilt a go along with me.  I’ll be working on it for the next several quilt-cams and would like to see it done. It’s going to be a newer, brighter class sample for when I teach this class in my travels.

Hi Bonnoe! Donna from Stratford CT here. Thought I would work on my Twin Sisters blocks yet again (it will get done before Setp, our birthday). But I struggle with trying to be scrappy. Since I am a Virgo I want everything orderly. Any tips?

Hi, Bonnie! I love those spider web blocks. But this evening I will be cutting out fabric for a workshop I will be taking later this week at one of the guilds I belong to. If I get finished before the end of QuiltCam, I will pull out my leaders and enders project - cheddar bow ties.

Your spider web blocks are sew cute!! Although I am sewing along with Quilt-Cam tonight, it is nothing quilt related. I am doing some tailoring on 2 pair of men's trousers. Will use the payment for my "Bonnie Hunter Class Fund". Thanks for sharing your time with us tonight.

So pleased to join you Bonnie and everyone else for Quilt Cam tonight! I am happy to see your demo for the spider web blocks...that's on my bucket list! Thanks again to you Bonnie for your support of the block drive, and to everyone who has donated blocks! The drawing was held today! Now it's time to sew all of the 5,680 blocks into 189 quilts! What a perfect project for Quilt Cam!

Good Morning Bonnie, this is my first 'live' QuiltCam since moving last month to our new home and I feel like I am finally back normal. The Spider block is a new block to me and I really appreciate your 'how to' explanations, you make them all seem so easy. I am still sewing along with my Pineapple Crazy blocks, and have 180 completed and 44 to go. (and still loving them)
Thanks for everything you do.

If you get a Samsung Galaxy, unless you have an unlimited data plan, do not - repeat - do not sign in with your google+ account. It will automatically download anything you have ever downloaded from google and suck up a lot of data. Mine did just that and used up an entire gigabyte of data in about 10 hours.

Good evening Bonnie from Kathy in sunny Victoria, BC.
My hubby Dale and I are going to make the trip to Portland next week just so I can attend the Northwest Quilters Guild meeting on Monday evening to listen to your lecture and view the trunk show. Unfortunately I won't be taking one of your classes but very excited nonetheless. Working on a Christmas quilt from 4 years ago so keeping busy while watching you, will it be done this year, well there's always hope right!

I bought the digital 'more leaders and enders' because I am in Canada. I love it. We went to our cottage and I left my sewing handwork on the table but I thankfully had packed my laptop. I enjoyed reading your new book on Kindle for PC. I made lots of notes and made plans. Thanks for all your patterns and for quilt cam. Megan

I love that solid green fabric. This is going to be a gorgeous quilt. Too tired to sew tonight, so enjoyed a glass of wine while watching YOU sew! That machine is so quiet; what a lucky find. Have a safe trip to and from Oregon.

That was too much fun. Not as good as Bonnie live in a classroom but great for a booster. It definitely won't be my last. I'll try and find my spiderweb before next time.

Bonnie,
So glad you have quilt cam on as you know i am addicted to sewing with you and reading the studio. Those gals just floored me about the comic cardboard covers! I want to know what do I do when I am heading on filling (yes filling) the 3rd 2.5 in strip bucket which are the big 30 gal totes! Fabric mountain has yet to have a dent in it. I have started changing out the buckets for the 3 drawer sterilite containers under the longarm. Love and Inspiration waiting Mary

Hi Bonnie, I too gave up on iPhone and went to the dark side! I have a Galaxy Note 3. I just adore it. Yes it is a bit bigger, but the bigger screen makes up for it. Super. Love the spider webs. May be the next charity project for our guild.

You have inspired me to get out a long-lost UFO - a pinwheel quilt pattern that I started with "tutti frutti" fabric! I think it will be SO cute when done, but it's been in my "UFO BIN" for at least five years! Feeling quilty-guilty!!!
