More Tucson Show & Share!

Tucson_Feb2014 116
We had a wonderful Show & Share during our lunch time in last Friday’s My Blue Heaven workshop!

These intricate hexie stars are antique…mid to late 1800s, and are made of very fine WOOL!

Yes – WOOL!!

The size is a bit more than 1/2” per side..maybe 5/8”  and the colors were bold and bright.  I just love that purple one on the right ---

They arrived wrapped in tissue, this is not a project that will ever be completed, it’s more of a keepsake to study, for the fabrics used, the colors she chose, and the fact that many of the papers on the back side, yes this is sewn in English paper piecing –have personal writing on them.  She cut her papers from correspondence!

Take a look:

See the pen & ink??

I wish I knew what the letters said-- Of course, my heart goes right to something of a romantic nature – and it was probably a grocery list! LOL!  Thank you to Alice for bringing these treasures in!

Paula also brought in a wonderful family heirloom from 1894:

AMAZING work on this!

There are many blocks pertaining to the Oddfellows lodge ----and the workmanship on this is just amazing.  It’s a summer spread, so there is no batting.  The stitches on the back side look just as good as the stitches on the front…..she cherishes this piece and I can see why!

And that ultra-cute Alice with a hexie flag – isn’t this great?

Thanks ladies, your show and share inspires us all!  Our creative juices were flowing by the time our lunchtime show and share was done..we were raring to go and ready to get back to our machines and SEW!

This morning we begin a Texas Tornado of events.  A Blue Ridge Beauty class all day long, and an evening presentation with the Lakeview Quilters Guild –after which I’m being shuttled across Houston to the West Houston Quilter’s Guild for tomorrow’s Love Shack workshop ---

Time to get breakfast, get checked out and go get set up!

Have a great Monday, everyone!

I always enjoy your show and share posts! Makes me want to drop everything (well, not the baby) and get down to sewing!

I love Show and Share! What a difference a border makes between the two different Orca Bay quilts.
