If you go hungry at retreat, it's your own doing. LOL!
This was our Sunday lunch spread - as Sunday was the last full day of retreat, everything came out of the fridge for the best snacky kind of lunch you could ever have.
The last day of retreat is the best day to revisit all of the leftover tasty morsels from the previous days of plentiful food.
Our mornings have become cooler!
Sunday was also great for a dirt road hike way up to the top. A favorite rest stop is the McMillan family cemetery where the panoramic view is amazing.
The season is beginning to change. Our mornings have been cooler. This morning it was only in the 50s and for the first time in months I didn't open the sliding glass doors to let morning air in through the screens.
Woah! That happened quickly!
It was great to have some dirt road hikers on hand this week to keep me going.
Quilt projects were also making progress through the weekend.

My own weekend looked like this.

(And yes, that is spinach in my teeth again. Sigh. Too bad.)
I did take my completed blocks next door to the Quilting Quarters so folks could see what I was up to.
They all agreed that the Y seams are worth it.
But for those of you that hate them, I will do a demo with extra seams in the corners and sides running through the sold fabrics so you don't have to do them. Options are our best friends some times.
As for helping you with bulk in the center? Are you crazy? This is a string quilt. Each seam has 2 layers. You have 16 layers of fabric coming together in the center. There will be bulk. Get a hammer. LOL!
For those who missed my Facebook/Instagram/Threads/Blog notification email yesterday -
The reason there was no post is I had to leave the house at 7:15am to go to the airport in Tennessee to pick up Hubster Dave after his red eye flight home from Oregon. He had a great time visiting with his brothers, extended family and friends.
We are also grateful to have him back safe and sound.
Sometimes life gets in the way and I have to set things aside (Love you guys, but I'm not getting up at 4:30 am to be sure you have a post with your coffee!) Sometimes we need to skip things, and then we pick the ball back up when we can.

So glad to hear that you’re ok! I was starting to worry about what went wrong on Monday, so I’m relieved to hear the day off was so you could go gather up hubby from his family visit. I’m sure he had a great time with them. I for one really enjoy you sharing all the pictures of the goings on at your retreat house, and all the wonderfully inspiring projects the quilters do. And your everyday goings on make you seem so down to earth and likeable - please keep doin’ what you’re doin’!

The blocks that look like stained glass are from Jenny Doan at Missouri Star and the pattern is contained in one of her Block books. I will try to dig it out but I recognize it from a top my mom started when we were visiting her retreat center and a lovely lady that was at the retreat helped my mom pick out blues (scrap fabric that Jenny had put on large table to sort through and purchase). I now have that top, unfinished and plan to finish it for my mom who is in long term care at this time. I remember the kindness, care and patience "Glenda" gave to my mom.

I missed you! I was busy sewing and kept Checking. Life happens while we stich. I am glad Dave is back safe. I love seeing what the ladies are making. And even the food and Dirt hike times. You can do y seams! I bet they were happy to see what you were making.
I LOVE seeing pictures of the quilts / patterns people are working on. It gives me so many ideas. Also uplifting to see that other people besides me can sometimes take a while to finish a project that was started at last year's retreat.

Yes, keep posting what people are making - it's always surprising to see a quilt in different colours than what's on the pattern - often seeing it in real cloth makes it come alive! Thanks for your posts...............always inspiring, often much needed!

Dearest Bonnie, please DO NOT EVER stop posting projects & patterns. It's always so wonderful to get new ideas & colour combo inspiration from other crafters. Pinterest can only do so much.lol
Love reading your blog & really enjoy seeing the projects from the retreats. You're right, I do get ideas for future projects, but mostly just enjoy the community of sharing. I especially like it when quilts started one year come back the next year as completed jewels! Okay, I also love seeing your projects develop, the updates on all your pets & various goings-on. So keep on sharing - it's wonderful!
