A few retreaters left uber early to head up to Grayson Highlands yesterday morning - in search of ponies and avoiding rain.
I skipped on this trip - I get my computer work done before 9:30am and they were already 2 hours gone by then...but I wished them well and hoped they would have some pony-finding success.
They did!
The rest of us - it was a nice easy day for more quilting, more fun - as seen by the blocks here. Not sure which sampler this is, but aren't the colors great?
And you can see there are more daily Christmas in July items being hung next to design wall projects as well. They've been having fun with it all!
Some more lovely blocks in blue here.
I love this vintage case turned sewing kit - and yes -that pile of Chilhowie blocks is growing! How fun to see it in these repro fabrics.
One on the design wall!
Applique underway!
There are several folks working on one-block-wonder things - it's fun to see what the fabric will do when repeats are cut out and stitched back together.
So many different designs emerge depending on the fabric.
They are all so lovely!
All of these hexie pieces were cut from stacked panels just like the one you see in the center. Marvelous creativity and they are all so different!
And guess what?
Ladder Star is FINISHED!

It's so done!
And every stitch was worth the time it took.
Hand quilted quilts just feel so different than machine quilted ones.
I love both. I am not choosing one thing over the other thing. There is room for both.
All I know is that today I am diving back into my red/white/blue shirt stars so that I can quickly have another quilt in my hoop for evening stitching.
I'm still binding on mom's hexies - and it's likely that I'll have Huka Falls to bind after that one so I'll have something to work on before the next star top is done -
And I'll be glad to have the pile up of projects on my sewing table whittled down back to manageable.
It's supposed to rain all day today. We shall see on that. But temps are much cooler - If we reach 70 that will be our high.
It's back to long jeans for me today!
Retreaters may be hitting quilt shops today - not sure what they have planned, but you'll find me back in my studio happily playing with fabric and knocking projects off my list.
The response to our Hamilton Gardens release yesterday has been phenomenal! I can't thank you enough, and I am so excited that you are excited to make your own version while stitching down your scraps.
New Zealand Inspired!
A trip to New Zealand in January 2024 gave me a chance to see Hamilton Gardens for myself. All of that inspiration is captured here with easy to follow instructions, full-color photos and graphics to help you create your own version – no triangles required!
Quilt Size:79’’ X 79’’
Introductory pricing: I have set the price for Hamilton Gardens at 25% off - no coupon needed. Sale price good through 7/28/24.
And yes - there is a Gift-Away!
I'll be drawing for 2 winners who will each receive a Hamilton Gardens PDF pattern from me, and a Hamilton Roll from Cotton to Quilts!
Of course, they've also got gorgeous neutral rolls to enhance your stash as well. Check them out!
Winners will be chosen by random number generator on Friday, July 26th.

I'll get it done. It's a little cooler here too. The humidity is way down. Have a Sparkling day and weekend.

Hi girls! Hope you found lots of ponies and enjoyed the hike. We were so fortunate last year to have found a herd and the babies! Enjoy, stay safe, sew, laugh, and hugs to all! I miss not being there with you!
Thanks for sharing all the work in progress, great fun for us who don't get to be there. So fun to see all the talented quilters WIP too. I'll be looking forward to the over rail photos . Happy Sewing.
Fun to see the projects. I used the Japanese style print with white cranes and peonies for a OBW too. It’s so cool how the can look so completely different!. How nice that the temps dropped.
Love seeing all the projects. And it is fun to see how the way positioning of the fabric makes a new design on a stack and whack. Love all your projects. Thanks for sharing

I haven't seen any comments from Cats in Carlsbad. I hope she's ok.
