I waved off the May Quiltvillians yesterday morning -
What a fantastic and fun group of ladies.
Yesterday was also the first "donning of the shorts" day - temps reached FINALLY about 80 degrees and since it was sunny and I'd be running back and forth to flip laundry - once the ladies were gone no one was there to be blinded by the whiteness of my winter legs. LOL!
I will miss the creative mess in Tracy's corner. She got nearly half of the needed blocks for her Big String Quartet done!
This little scene just pulls me in and makes me happy.
It's all cleaned up and cleared away now - waiting for the next person to sit in "Tracy's spot" and stir up a creative mess of their own.
The Quilter's of the Night arrive today after 4pm.
Thanks for all of the fun, ladies!
Fish School Leader & Ender finish (Free Patterns tab) Grand Illusion and En Provence.
Solo shot of En Provence. It looks so lovely over the rail!
Dawn's Early Light (in blue and lavender!) from String Frenzy, Maymont, cute heart quilt, a Karen Nyberg star pattern, and a Pineapple Blossom top underway in 1930s prints.
For fun - here's a little video slideshow from a Dawn's Early Light workshop in Texas in 2019:
Two fun top finishes from retreat on the left - not sure of names- if you know, please put them in the comments section below!
Charlotte got her Unchained put together - and the potato chip/tatami mat quilt at the far right belongs to Sharon who had an emergency and had to take off early, but we told her we'd include her top in the over-the-rail photos.
Perfect with the blooming flame azaleas!
(Which seem to be really happy this year.)
Rebecca had two top finishes - also unsure of mames, so if you know - leave them in the comments section below! I love how bright and happy they are in the sunshine.
Two more finished tops!
(Names unknown)
What a lovely show of quilts this go round! With all of the rain we had through the week, the ladies really did put their pedals to the metal and cranked out some beautiful quilts.

Love the over the rails pictures. They are such candid shots of the quilts and their makers. The picture of the quilter in front of her quilt, leaning over to look at the Dawn's Early Light quilt makes me smile. Great shot. Great quilts. Great quilters.
The picture with the large motif flowers next to the labrynth design is Wildflower Seeds by Kelli Fannin. I completed mine in a sew-along a year or so ago, sponsored by Riley Blake Designs.
Winter white legs cracked me up! Marilyn Marks
What is the name of quilt in the 10th photo with the colorful string blocks with black borders. Only one corner of the quilt is being shown.
The quilt on the left in the last over the rail photo is called Wildflowers Seeds by Kelli Fannin. Sadly, she lost her battle with cancer last fall.
Rebecca's quilt on the right is the Iris Quilt by Kitchen Table Quilting.
Beautiful quilts May Quiltvillians! I love the pics of quilts hanging over the rail with the proud quilters standing behind them. Sorry that Sharon had to leave early, I hope everything is ok. Thanks for identifying the quilts with names when you can, Bonnie, and...I took my Indigo Way quilt off my longarm yesterday and trimmed it up! Binding is on the list for today. :-) Jenny
Great Job May Quiltvillians! In front of me is a Moving and Sorting Job. I think I would rather make 12 Beds. Getting my Stash in one room. Not an easy task after all these years. Happy Wednesday!
I'm fascinated by the border on the blue/purple quilt, interesting way to finish it off. All the quilts are beautiful. Bonnie, your yard is gorgeous.
Bonnie...I love it when you record a video for us. So much fun!! Thank you.
Oh, I love " Over the rail" days! It sounds like a fun weekend had by all. Mother Nature helped by keeping y'all inside... HA! But also glad that you got to get out & stretch the legs. I love the "Dawn's Early Light" pattern, & may have to pull it out & think about it in the future. Too many irons in the fire now & not enough time to do them in! Enjoy those shorts... but don't feel bad; I'm a member of that "winter white legs" club, too! Happy quilting!!
My favorite of all the retreat posts. ANYWAY, I have a question. As far as paper piecing is concerned, I remember at one time you said you used telephone book pages. I'm worried about ink transfer, is that ever a problem? (Like when your hands get ink-dirty when you read the paper.) (If you still read the paper.) I'm planning a light-to-medium project and am worried about ink stains. Thanks. You continue to be on my "Most Admired List"!!!
