Round Fabric Art Bowls Gift-Away!

Good morning, Quiltvillians!

There is something exciting going down in the world of "Quilty things that are not quilts!"

Have you seen these cool bowls made out of small pieces of fabric? They are SO gorgeous and would be great for gift giving - I hate to say it but the holidays are right around the corner. (Heavy sigh from me!)

When Kirsten let me know her new book was out, and invited me to participate in a blog tour to get the word out, I jumped in and said yes!

Round Fabric Art Bowls is Kirsten's second Art Bowls book - and if you want one, you may as well pick up both as the options are endless!

Create stunning display-worthy round fabric bowls with ease! While you can whip up the projects on your sewing machine for a fast, easy home décor project, you can also enjoy the tranquility of hand-sewing artisan bowls.

“Several years ago, I took a class with Judith Doenias on how to draw your own star pattern for a quilt block. I made a block with three stars in it and sat looking at it for some time. At that time, I had just started to make square fabric bowls with interior designs based on quilt blocks. So I decided to make the jump to a round bowl so that I could fit my star design into it."

"After working on bowls with star designs, I realized that the round shape lends itself to making bowls based on flowers, and all kinds of designs began to emerge to create this book.”—Kirsten Fisher, author of Round Fabric Art Bowls.

For Kirsten’s Virtual Book Tour, many of the contributors, plus some quilting friends, agreed to join in and help celebrate the release of Round Fabric Art Bowls

Follow along to learn more about the projects of the book and read candid reviews.

Take your bowl-making skills to the next level—tackle curves, create custom sizes, and select the perfect fabric to create a unique piece.

This is a book you’ll want to add to your personal library. There full-size templates for all six fabric bowl designs including many great tips and tricks on selecting fabrics and even fussy cutting them to create amazing designs.

I loved our conversation on the phone - and she personally sent me both of her books AND a template for the quilters to enjoy at Quiltville Inn.  Thank you, Kirsten!

And a bit more about Kirsten:

Kirsten Fisher was born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark. A significant regional center of culture and design, it was there that she began the foundation of her work in fiber crafts.

What started as sewing and knitting soon evolved into new forms of expression after her move to Brooklyn, NY in 1977. She quickly grew to love the traditional American art form of quilting as she gained exposure to her new home’s artistic techniques.

Over time, she became more involved with the fiber art community in New York, curating several shows in Brooklyn, as well as serving as co-president of the Brooklyn Quilters Guild.

In 2001 she started experimenting with transforming a traditional flat quilt block into a 3-dimensional fiber bowl and has since made this the focus of her work. Over the years, and through the use of contemporary fabrics, she has created the modern look that her bowls are known for today.

You can purchase either or both of Kirsten's books and the template tool from her website.

The full tour schedule is below. Visit and enter on each site on their day to win an e-book of Round Fabric Art Bowls!
