Sew Much Sewing Going On!

To be in the presence of so much creativity - it's bound to jump start even the most stalled out of us who have maybe lost our own sew-jo!

It's infectious in all of the good ways!

I spent the weekend coming and going between the QPO studio where I am catching up on things that were set aside during my month away, and visiting with Judy's Stitchers next door retreating away at the inn, making all o the pretty things and having a grand old time.

I love walking in to find the music playing and everyone singing along - just the best!

I zeroed right into these Cabin Corners blocks! Sew much scrappy fun!

This quilt is completely paper pieced from your best array of precious saved scraps.

It's the red strip placement within each block that forms on-point diamonds when the blocks are joined together.

And if you look carefully at the first photo above - it has a self made border.

This one rings ALL of my bells and whistles!

For the quilter who can't decide just what she wants to work on - work on them all at once! LOL!

I love the soft pastel florals coming together in this 6 pointed star beauty!

More fun and scrappy stars with fussy cut centers!

Idaho Square Dance from the Addicted to Scraps book is underway!

And in another color way here!

Fun little blocks with wonky centers!

I spy Rivanna happening here in colorful scraps!

Blue Ridge Beauty from Adventures With Leaders & Enders is the perfect project to work on commemorating the time spent on retreat in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of Southwestern Virginia!

Beautiful feathered star pattern by Kim Diehl.

I've been loving the ditch lilies as they bloom around the creek banks and roadsides here. This one is Connie's - her neutrals are SO FUN!

And on the side -

Connie is also working on Silver Linings from String Frenzy.  I love her use of squa where I used red!

Cute cute cute Bee in My Bonnet by Lori Holt.

Any guesses what's happening here?

If you guessed Chilhowie you would be right.  But look a bit closer - there in the upper right:

There are some cute little Oopsie Daisie Leader & Ender blocks growing on the side!  These gals brought their scraps so they could jump right in when our new challenge was released last Friday!

You'll also find Oopsie Daisie linked under the Free Patterns tab.  I can't wait to see hour blocks as you make them, and watch what fun quilts you make with them over the next year.

Remember this challenge goes from July 2023 to July 2024 and is not a race.  Anyone who finishes their Oopsie Daisie quilt in the next 2 weeks will be disqualified! LOL!

It's a Leader & Ender project - it should take a while.

Weekend on the porch -

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

Yesterday afternoon we headed over to our favorite Blue Ridge Movie Lounge in West Jefferson, NC to wat the new Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny movie.  FANTASTIC!

We loved it so much, and as it was a day with intermittent rain, it was the perfect late afternoon activity.

I love matinee's - they are the best "TIME OUT" from all else that is going on in the world.

Today - Mailing off all 6 of my 2024 Addicted to Scraps column blocks and info to Quiltmaker.  That's the top of my list.  I got them done over the weekend.

This week I'm working on getting the pattern for Jacob's Chain written and ready for release a week from today, Monday 7/17/23.

You've been asking for this one - it's coming - and yes there will be a PDF pattern gift-away including fabric rolls from Cotton to Quilts.

If the rain holds off today I might even get the full quilt photos done.  Fingers crossed on that one because that is one thing the weather has thrown a wrench into.

This afternoon Tula has a checkup and another round of antibiotic shots for the aggressive infection her in her foot.  We are seeing some progress, but as this one had started to affect the bone, we've got to keep at it until it is 100% healed.

It's going to be a crazy busy week.

Judy's Stitchers check out tomorrow, but I'm also headed tomorrow to the ortho surgeon to hopefully schedule surgery on my knee.

The Pieceful Hearts gals from SC/GA arrive on Wednesday afternoon.

Friday is haircut day.  I so need it!

When am I going to get to just sew?  I have no idea - but these things all come ahead of it.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Dreams aren't enough.
Put some action behind them and make things happen!
I find this to be the perfect motivation to start a brand new week off right.

We've got this!

the "fun little blocks with wonky centers" are probably based on Terry Rowland's Colorwash quilt challenge from a few years ago, look it up if you have time! Way fun scrap usage. Sharyn in Kalama

Anyone else see the face in Ditch Lilies? Colleen in Alaska

Do you mean the "face" on the left side, in the center neutral block? I had to go back and find it. Phyllis in PA

Bonnie, hope all goes well at the doctors, and you heal fast. Would like to know if the Feathered Star pattern by Kim Diehl is a current one or discontinued, would love to make it.
