Lovin' From the Oven!

If you walk through the front door and can't find a soul - chances are they are all in the kitchen!

And with good reason - the December Quiltvillians have been treating each other to all of their favorites as well as trying out new recipes before they spring them on their families on Christmas morning.

As much as I love to hear all of the quilty chatter to the hum of machines coming from the Quilting Quarters, the sounds of meal prep and all of the resulting yummy smells add such a hominess to this space!

Creativity flourished all through the weekend -

Blocks stacked up, tops came together, borders were added and new projects begun.

We all love this little corner - the fabric line is called Poinsettia Dots.  So festive!

Pineapple Blossom from the Free Patterns tab got its borders!

A row by row in progress!

The theme is definitely "Eastern Seaboard!"

And this is happening next door at the QPO.

I finally did a few calculations and decided how many more blocks there are to make. Somewhere around 30, and yes I have enough of that chartreuse solid to do it, but there won't likely be much left for borders or binding.  That's okay.

All told, this project is using up more hunks and chunks of neutrals than it is my blues, but I'm still happy to be putting the blue things to good use.

Except for THESE blue pieces.

There is no getting them out from under Lola.  LOL.

Holiday prep at home!

I came home to find the Hubster making sugar cookies.  Someone wants a little Christmas, right this very minute!

This unexpected photo was sent to me by my friend Jane - she took this photo while we were on retreat at Lake Eufaula, OK in 2000.  What a blast from the past!

Behind me is my Millennium Pyramids quilt - the project I decided on after swapping 2,000 3'' charm squares where they were not all the same 3''.

This is one of the tutorials I rewrote from the Free Patterns tab.  It's super easy and so much fun to make.

The quilt now lives with my sister and her family.

As I look at this photo and think back - wow.  What a wild ride it has been!  This blog wouldn't be started until 5 or so years later, and all that has happened since.

I could give this gal in her 30s any advice at all, what would I tell her?

"Just keep sewing!"

I hope everyone has had a great weekend.  I know I did.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

The more you give with your heart, the more heart there is to give.

Happy Monday, folks!

Love the picture of Lola as well as the projects shown by the Quiltvillians. Not much going on here. Just came back from a 1 hr walk with my dog and now will do some cleaning. No sewing for the rest of this month as there are other projects that need to get done. I do sneak into the sewing g room once in a while, lol.

Always love reading your blog, seeing all that is being done at retreat, your progress on your quilts, and of course Lola. Thank you for putting the Juki in your Amazon Store, mine arrived yesterday so you know what I will be doing for the next week and beyond, so different than my computerized Singer that will have to stay for some fancy stitching and making Frankenbatting....finished the hand quilting (baptist fans) on my Xmas Log Cabin throw so now I need to quilt something to give me hand stitching (binding) in the evenings. Thanks again for all you do with the blog, the mysteries, and all the patterns.

Wow, I know Dave is the absolute best, most helpful hubby in the world, but he also makes cookies? Cutouts no less. I think you should keep him under lock and key.

30 years plus a few ago for me. I was still having babies. Oh what would I say? Hug them tighter! It's way too quiet in my house these days. I sewed after they went to sleep in those days and Matching polo shirts were under my needle. Christmas Around the World Demos were my passion. Thanks got my Nativity collection started in earnest. Love putting them out using different levels and twinkling lights. Happy Day 5 of Christmas it was National Cookie Day, Hubby is good.

What's going on with your home four-legged family? Haven't heard much about them lately. My fortune cookie last night: "Nothing is a waste of time if you learn something from it". Much better than the one I keep on my bulletin board, " You may be successful someday"!

I didn't recognize the 2000 version of you! But it's fun to see!! I'm really glad you kept on stitching. You've come up with more patterns than I will ever be able to make. And I love them all. Keep up the great work!!
