Out & About - Like a BEAST!

Happy Monday, Quiltvillians!

What a weekend!

It's only 8am as I write this, and I already need a nap.  LOL!

I thought I would start this post with something quilty in a bit of an inside-out narration - we filled in every waking moment of Saturday with something fun for everyone -

And the icing on the cake was a road trip up to Wytheville to visit Batiks, Etc!

I think everyone shopped until they dropped.  I know I did.  That bench you see in front of the house behind the porch rail was a spot of respite while we waited for everyone's fabrics to be cut, bagged, and paid for.

The infamous big pencil!

Downtown Wytheville is full of cute shops and more.  While we were there, we let folks wander into whichever place they wanted to go in search of treasures.

Somehow or another we all ended up at JoJo's Attic -

Evidently the theme of the day was "How many blue machines can you find?"

Evidently the answer is TWO.  And I found them!

Mind you, this jaunt came after 4 of us took on a 4 mile hike up to the hunting cabin beyond McMillian's cemetery on Saturday morning - so my legs were already tired!

Even the cows thought we were crazy to go this far.

But the view from here is wonderful.  Click to Play:

It's wonderful to show how different our mountains are to folks from "other kinds" of mountainous areas like Utah.

This is the Blue Ridge.  And it surrounds us like a hug.

End of day around the fire pit.

I think they all look happily, contentedly tired.  It was a great day!

S'mores on graham crackers?
Or would you prefer your marshmallows on fudge stripe cookies?
Or chocolate mint cookies?
Or chocolate dipped cookies filled with peanut butter?
Or go all the way with coconut caramel cookies?
The BEAST Quilters don't mess around when it comes to fire pit night!

For me?

Just marshmallows - toasted just right, and into my mouth straight from the stick, thank you!

It's the little things!

While all of this was going on, I need to stop and thank the Hubster for attaching this back door spring while the fire was burning down before calling everyone out to enjoy.

Nothing is more aggravating than a door that blows open if not latched all the way letting in all the evening bugs (and perhaps a mouse or two) while no one is looking.

We now have auto-close on the back door.

No more trying to close the door with your foot when your hands are full - It's all about the little things, isn't it?  Thank you Hubster!

The only quilting for me this weekend.

All I have been able to manage is to get some stitches into the hexie. I've been too exhausted by the end of the day - and yes, there was a nap between the quilt shop/antique mall run and fire pit time, but these gals are keeping me busy!

Yesterday we hiked to see the ponies - a whole lot of them must have been off having babies last visit and that is why we couldn't find them.  The mamas were nesting.  More on that to come.

Today 5 of us are headed to Damascus to catch the shuttle up to White Top Mountain and bike the 17 miles back down to the bottom.

More naps required?

Today is the last day with the BEAST quilters, and we are still filling up every minute with something memorable.

And that makes THIS just perfect for our day ahead:

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Not everything will go as we expect in life.

Sometimes it throws in some wild hairpin turns.

Hang on, it's going to be a wild ride but stay on the road!

Have a lovely Monday, everyone -

Thank you for the video of the mountains. I miss them. My Uncle when h was alive lived in Athens , GA and we came down I77 at least 3 or 4 times a year to visit. Both sides of the family origionally came from this area in the 1700's and I LOVE it.

Gosh, I'm tired just reading all you gals did! I'm all for sitting in front of the fire pit.
Your hexies are just too beautiful for words.
Road trip today for us. Family business.

What a view! Happy mammas and their ponies. Have a good Bike ride downhill. 17 miles, I would need an electric bike to save my thighs. I had to make myself a smore after seeing your posts on FB and IG. I roast my Marshmallow over the stove. I like mine to have Symphony bar with Almonds and Toffee bits. Super yum 😋 thanks for sharing.
