Evening was just falling as we brought the chairs around the fire pit - a highlight of retreats during the warmer months at Quiltville Inn.
Oh, the conversations that happen! Laughing so hard your belly hurts - it's so good, right?
We also moved the citronella tikis around - warmer evenings ahead also mean bug season!
I can hardly wait to see the lightning bugs buzzing around the trees. But the biting things - they need to stay away.
Hours of hard work at the sewing machines, makes relaxing on the back porch with a bit of evening warmth and sun (Especially after chilly winds and drizzle for most of the weekend) that much sweeter!
Break AWAY from the cutting, pressing sewing, ladies! Let's enjoy some of this green out here!
Gina's organization can't be surpassed!
I watched Gina's methodical construction all weekend long. These strips all finish at 1/2''!
Oh, Gina! This is gorgeous!
There are a couple more to go yet.
I don't remember the name of the book or pattern - but this is a Judy Martin design. BEAUTIFUL!
And that's not all she sewed!
This cute baby quilt was constructed from blocks made by guild members and will be donated. Someone is really going to love this one!
My own stacks got sewn as well -
I have yet to lay them out and decide what I'm going to do with them, but ideas are turning in my head.
Some of these solids have memories to them - the lighter yellow was the background of my Serpentine Web quilt from String Frenzy. There is an aqua that was used in Xing and others - the fabric originally coming from my Mother in Law after her passing when Jason was only a small baby.
I've used solids quite often as sashings, bindings, setting triangles or setting blocks - but it has been many years since I did a quilt from ALL solids. I have however used solids throughout my entire quilting life in one form or another, so it is not new to me.
Perhaps today I can play with some layouts? We shall see!

I have decided to leave my bird feeder empty for a bit since the birds will start feasting on cicadas this week.
Bonnie, I always look forward to your blog with it's ending of vintage quilts,...... and their fabulous quotes. And today's is especially great. This not so vintage quilt is on my bucket list too, Fair and Square, from you great book Scraps and Shirttails II. I have been wondering what it looks like in a different colorway, and this one is wonderful too. Thanks so much for all you do.
I love reading your blog every day. Thanks for sharing all the fun with your retreats! Have a great day!
LOVE my bird feeders - found if I hang them from the clothes line the coons and squirrels can't reach them! I have a pilated wood pecker and a red headed wood pecker visiting this year!
Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading your blog everyday. It gives me a break from my own daily routine. I love hearing about all the fun your visitors have, and seeing the progress that you make with your own projects. THank you for continuing to inspire and keep the quotes coming! <3
I have my grandmothers 403 machine which is in perfect condition. Blonde cabinet and stool. She was the original owner . Don’t know how to send you a picture. Could your family member use this??
I think the flowers were Columbine.
What type and model is the bird feeder? My husband couldn't repair the last one and threw it out before I retrieved the name. It worked so well for nearly 20 years.I used to love watching the gold finches turn to grey in the fall/winter period and then return in spring with their bright colors!!The male and female cardinals are also a treat and I listen for their "cheap, cheap, cheap" in the morning and around 4 p.m. in afternoon.
