Oh, how I love red!
From pinky red to fire engine and tomato orangey red - all the way to burgundy.
I just love the punch that red brings to the table!
Is there anything that doesn't go with just a bit of red?
My friend Saska swears that "Red is a Neutral!" I think she may be right.
These reds are destined to be something fun - SOON!
I have been "homing" my strings and separating them in bins by color family for years - it is probably the best thing I have done.
It allows me to play within color families without having to do a lot of sorting first.
As I am working with fat quarters and yardage, anything deemed too narrow or just "I'm done with you!" is tossed into the appropriate color string bin.
That deep barn red check with the gold star in the upper left is one that I swear will NEVER go away. I had YARDS of this fabric that had cute country cows jumping over the moon - It was a quilt back. And those margins from the backing have ended up in strip widths in my Scrap User’s System - and now, the remains of what is left is in the red string bin.
If only these scraps could talk!
I have a plan for these....stay tuned! It's going to be a fun one!
This is how my Monday went! LOL!
I have stored my overflow boxes of shipping supplies on top of the white stash cabinets at the QPO.
Evidently Lola got brave enough to do the BIG JUMP up there, and nestled her way into a box of padded book mailers. LOL! Crazy girl!
There were a couple that were completely shredded (Looks like she was making a good go of biscuit kneading!) but if the envelope only had a few claw pokes - I taped them up as best as I could, wrote notes from Lola on the envelope and adorned the surface with stickers.
If you are lucky enough to get one of these envelopes in the mail - know that Lola was sending her love.
Evening Time - Popcorn Temptations!
I wish I could say that I got a lot done yesterday - But the truth is, taking Sunday off means double the work on Monday.
So I stayed toasty warm inside the Quiltville Post Office (QPO) and sipped hot Chai Tea Latte while my new guilty listening pleasure kept me company. If you like true crime - have you listened to Crime Junkie Podcast?
I love listening to podcasts when I am doing busy work or sewing. Also great when folding laundry. (because my life is exciting like that!)
As far as what we were watching during the popcorn stare down above? Have you seen EVERWOOD? I somehow hadn't heard of it when it was running from 2002-2006. There are close to 100 episodes and we are watching it on Amazon Prime.
Treat Williams as Dr. Brown raising his 2 kids in a small Colorado town - having relocated there from New York City after the death of his wife. That's all I'm going to say.
We are hooked. I'm sad it lasted only 4 years!

Red is my favorite color! I always look forward to using it.
Any crime podcast while sewing...is perfect...just make sure you are only sewing. I'm sure to mess up assembly or measuring or cutting if listening at the same time.
Like clothes, the fabric come back! I still have fabric that must be 20 years old that I see coming back! Your scotch plaid fabric is making a comeback, but mostly minus the cows! I am working on way too many projects and not getting anything DONE! I want to QUILT something, as I am going to have to oil Pearl again before I quilt anything! And then it all gets done at once and people think I am cranking things out, but I’m not, just all those projects half done, finally getting to the finish line, at once, which it is what it’s about. I’m not making anything “for” Christmas, but I do give away most of my quilts, so someone will get something for Christmas, or New Years...but first, the mystery. Part 2 is cut out and ready to go. Better hurry! Trying to keep up this year! We have lights up inside and out all year, as the hub loves lights. Nice that yours did that for you. Sometimes they surprise us!
That's a pattern from the Kansas City Star quilts you can get the C.D. with it. It's supposed to be a fish. I k ow because I bought the C.D. am having fun paging through it. Love all the reds. Red has been one of my favorites sense I was a little girl. You have to be having fun with your fur babies

I have several tubs of reds, and that is the one color that I'm happy it multiplies in the dark.

A bit of trivia. Although Everwood was set in Colorado it was filmed in Utah. My daughter was stand in for one of the episodes. You wouldn’t actually see her. She and her friend were playing in the pool way in the background. But they made sure to throw the big pool ball a lot and really high so they would be noticed. LOL
I loved Everwood. There are a few actors in there who've gone on to do a lot of other things. Emily VanCamp (Amy) was already mentioned; she's been in a number of shows. Chris Pratt played Bright; he was in Parks and Recreation, the newer Jurassic Park movies, and Marvel movies now. I don't know if you've seen Madison yet, played by Sarah Lancaster, but Sarah went on to playing Ellie Bartowski in Chuck as well as a lot of other things. I may need an Everwood re-watch!

Love all those reds. There are SO many shades of red aren’t there, but they all meld beautifully in your strings. Freddie Moran always said Red was her neutral and she has certainly put that idea into practice over the years. Happy sewing!

Saska is correct! Red and Purple are both neutrals. They are the cream and white! Red was Always my favorite color from the time I was a tot...I begged my mom to make me a Red Easter dress and she told me Red was not an Easter color and that everyone would think it was my Christmas dress. I told her I didn't care and persisted. She made me a red dotted Swiss dress (red with white pindots) and a white pinafore. Also we had a black and white T.V. and every time Ginger Rogers and Fred were dancing I would Call out to anyone around "Come see her beautiful Red Dress!"
Red is my FAVORITE color!! Most of my cars have been red (last lease they didn't have any so current car is copper). Can't wait to see what you do with the red. I'm currently watching Hell on Wheels for like the 3rd time.
That "small Colorado town" was actually Ogden, Utah where I am from! They filmed on our famous 2 bit street.
Wish I had time to see right now but I have most of part 1 done...it may take me until spring but I will keep at it.
I will have to check out Everwood. I got hooked on Home Fires. It was 2 seasons. The third season was already planned but the show got canceled. Boy was I bummed. Now I will have to buy the book to find out the ending. It was so very good. It's about how .....that's all I will say.

I watched all of Everwood, a bit ago. Had them all on DVD. Passed them on when I was done with them. I agree that red should be a neutral. I love red. Can't wait to see what you do with the string pieces there.

I too had lots of red in the stash from teddy bear re-work projects. They came in handy when I took my first Bonnie Hunter class,Talkin Turkey in Bedford PA. There have been some Christmas projects. I'm hoping to do a Hunters Star because the scraps just keep accumulating.

Another Everwood fan here! Thought it was a really good show. Can't wait to see what the red strings are about....I do love how red gives energy to quilts.
