November ‘19 Quilty Box Gift-Away!

Guess what I found waiting for me when I returned home to Wallburg last night?

The November Quilty Box and Quilty Box Mini! In the nick of time – because November is quietly slipping away into December.

They may have stuck Thanksgiving down as far as they can in November, but I still feel like I need a couple of November weeks left to get done all that needs to be done around here.  Are you with me?

What is a Quilty Box?

Here are some highlights to keep in mind:
  • Quilty Box is a monthly subscription box of fun quilting supplies. We offer plans from $44-48/mo.
  • 5% of the profits of multi-month subscriptions are donated to Quilts for Kids - a non-profit which donates quilts for children in need
  • Each month we have 4 or more products (fabric, patterns, thread, or notions)
  • Our retail value of the products in the box is always more than $60
  • We will be using the hashtags #QuiltyBox and #GetQuilty
Subscribe today at Quiltybox.com

I LOVE the fact that 5% of the profits go to Quilts for Kids!  It’s a win win all the way around!

And oh, what a great fun box we’ve got this month – curated for us by none other than Heather Ross!

Heather Ross is an illustrator and fabric designer whose crafty creations have found commercial success and a massive online following. She has illustrated the Crafty Chloe books Crafty Chloe and Dress-Up Mess-Up and is also the author of the craft book Weekend Sewing. She grew up in the Vermont countryside and has a tremendous appreciation for nature, which continues to influence her work now that she lives with her husband in New York City. Visit her at HeatherRoss.squarespace.com.

Let’s get into our November Quilty Box!

Heather’s Far Far Away 2 collection by Windham!

I am enchanted!

Heather writes: “I designed clothing and fabric (and lots of other things) for children long before I had one of my own. It is such a joy to bring back some old favorites now that I have a new and appreciative audience right here at home.

My versions of Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and an Owl and the Pussycat that he loves, first appeared about ten years ago on heavyweight linen. I am so pleased to see them again, this time in cheerfully bright colors, and on a quilting weight cotton.

Perfect for that time of life where princesses are everything, pink rules the roost and we can all live out our girl-hood dreams, all over again, through our daughters.”

The Owl & the Pussycat!

Newspaper boats! (Or hats)

Who remembers making these and the fun we had?

I wanted hair like Rapunzel in the worst way!

For all the sleeping princesses in your life!

This fabric is just so cute, I ooh’d and aahh’d over every piece!

Bundles of Inspiration magazine has the pattern for “Once Upon a Time” by Natalie Crabtree – a gorgeous sparkling quilt featuring the Far Far Away 2 collection by Heather Ross.  The quilt finishes at 57 1/2’’ x 57 1/2’’ perfect for little girls dreaming of princesses!

Along with the fabric – more goodies!

Tim Holtz mini scissors
Clover Golden Eye embroidery needles
Aurifil thread!

And the Bundles of Inspiration magazine is filled with articles, great projects, patterns and more.

But that’s not all!  We are not only offering up a Classic Sized Quilty Box (above) but also the Quilty Box Mini – we’ll be drawing for TWO winners on Thanksgiving morning!

Full size charm pack of Far Far Away 2,
Aurifil Thread
Bundles of Inspiration Magazine!

The pattern for Magic Chain by Jeni Baker is included in the Bundles of Inspiration Magazine, and is perfect for stitching up with your Far Far Away 2 charm pack.

The quilt finishes at 48’’ square and all you need to add is 1 2/3 yard of background fabric.  It would be a great little project for getting princess loving girls interested in sewing and quilting.

You’ve got to be in it to win it – enter below!

Good Luck, Everyone! We will be drawing for our two winners on Thursday morning, Nov 28th!

And of course– you ALL know what is happening Black Friday, don’t you?

BE READY TO FROLIC!!

The best time of the year kicks off Black Friday with our first clue in our FROLIC mystery quilt!  Yardage requirements, background information and all other necessary details are found under the FROLIC MYSTERY TAB at the top of the blog.  New clues will be released each Friday (Yes, even when I am in Germany!) As these clues are released, I will also add a link within the tab so it will be easy to get back to.

Are you excited?  Are you pulling fabric?  I can hardly stand it.  I know I should be focusing on Thanksgiving – but I admit it.  I’m focusing on FROLIC instead! (It’s all good!)

My dad flies in from Arizona this evening.  He arrives at 5pm and we will head on over to meet Jeff who will be just getting off work and have dinner with him before heading up to Virginia.  It’s going to be a long travel day for my nearly-80-year-old papa, but as Jeff can’t make it up to Virginia for Thanksgiving due to his crazy holiday work schedule, this way they can have some time together.

I stopped by to see him last night on my way home-

(He didn’t kill me for the photos I posted yesterday!)

I’ll be hitting up the stores for all the groceries today before heading to the airport – Shopping the Saturday before Thanksgiving? INSANITY!  But it must be done.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Sometimes folks just need you to listen - not give them your own biased opinions.

Today I am putting on my listening ears.

Have a wonderful Saturday, everyone – let the crazy begin!

You've given all of us quilters a totally new way to look at Black Friday. I'm so looking forward to it again this year. I started with Celtic Solstice and have done it every year since! This year I plan to make in miniature size. Let the fun begin.

Great quote. And I love the quilt that’s behind it, especially since it’s made with shirts! Name? or should I recognize it? :)

Your son is certainly a cutie pie. I love this pic where we can actually see his face as often we see him with a cap on his head!

The Owl & the Pussycat! I love this nursery rhyme. It contains "runcible spoon" which we today call a "spork!" The first and second graders that I tutor in reading are (for the most part) entirely unfamiliar with nursery rhymes that we grew up with. The old rhymes have rhyming in them (hence the name!) which trains a child's ear and helps them with reading. I have to teach them what rhyming words are and without the background of having heard the old nursery rhymes, it can be quite the challenge.

I hope the rest of this week goes smoothly for all of you and your loved ones.
Enjoy your daddy. Mine is 96 and I take care of him now. He is peppy and happy

I need to get some shopping done this afternoon.
The quilt box is sweet, Heather Ross has adorable fabrics, and these boxes are exceptional.

Black Friday is my birthday and it's going to be a 'me' day. Have my fabrics pulled for Frolic. Am hoping with this busy holiday season I will have time to do everything planned. Way to many food involved activities. Do I hide the scale or put in in the middle of the kitchen floor. Happy Thanksgiving/my birthday everyone!!

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your Dad, Bonnie. Cherish him! You are so lucky to have him still. I lost my father in 1968. It wasn't fair.
Currently, I can't shop at Sailrite. I have all the fabric I need for market bags. They have a wonderful video on YouTube showing how to make them. Their customer service is excellent!!

Love your quote of the day. Enjoy your dad. I lost my dad earlier this year and this was the first Thanksgiving without him. No regrets, I had him for 93 and the Lord took him in his sleep. Happy Thanksgiving. Can't wait for the first clue to be released for your mystery quilt. I just finished my cancer treatment and am very anxious to get back to quilting.
