Midnight Flight, Phoenix Style!

What a way to kick off my 2019 teaching year!

I walked into a room filled to the gills with 56 quilters, machines, fabric, books, rulers, rotary cutters – the WORKS!  And I felt instantly at home!

“Hello, my name is Bonnie Hunter and I haven’t sat at a sewing machine in over 3 weeks, do you mind if I pet yours?”  Let’s face it, it’s not something you can say to just ANYONE!

But Quilters get it, don’t we?

In fact, I came face to face with a machine I haven’t seen in the wild before – so this one is for YOU dear friend Allison, if you are reading today:

I guessed 1950s right off the bat -

But WHAT is it??

A 191 U???

And it has that lovely Japanese made feed dog drop feature -

WOW!

And check out this nose:

The profile of a 1950s Buick!

So much fun!

And now I WANT ONE, I NEED ONE! LOL!

We set in to making strip sets -

Sub-cutting and stitching some more -

Such busy happy quilters!

With nearly 60 in class, we split the room up into groups of “close to 20” by table location and tripled up on demos and it worked just great!

Triangles before lunch, anyone??

And soon things just start coming together!

35th Avenue Sew & Vac is a FABULOUS place – and I’m happy to be on the books for next year as well – we are just getting details ironed out, but I’ll be spending my birthday here in January of 2020 which is perfect.  I’ll get to see family at that time too!

Thanks for the wonderful welcome, ladies!

You’ll find the rest of yesterday’s Midnight Flight Fun from MORE Adventures with Leaders & Enders  in the video below  Click to play:

It all flew by too quickly!  So it’s a good thing we get to do it all again today!

Today we are playing with Serpentine Web from String Frenzy– Bring on the strings!

A special dinner visit last night!

My best friend since we were 12!

The last few times I’ve been to the Phoenix area I wasn’t able to make it over to the West Valley to visit Jules – time was just too tight with family during my visit to Mark in August, and then the funeral in September.  On another visit, Jules and her hubby Kimo were so sick with the flu that I couldn’t visit then either, but last night the stars aligned and I was only 15 miles away!

I made a very slow crawl through rush hour traffic to get down those 15 miles last evening, but it was so worth it.  We laughed and talked and caught up on everything, as if we were never apart.  I love this girl!

Jules and I at 13.

Childhood friend of my heart.  Love her!

TWO DAYS LEFT!

Which means Happy Groundhog Day, everyone!

No matter whether Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow or NOT – you can still save 25% off of all digital patterns in the Quiltville Store including the newly released 22 page full color pattern booklet for Good Fortune.  Just remember to place the code DIGITAL25 in the coupon box at purchase and hit APPLY to receive your discount.

I’m off to check out of my hotel – and head over 35th Ave Sew & Vac for today’s activities.  This evening I’m driving back across the valley to have dinner at my sister in law Sharolyn’s house – it’s a birthday dinner night – 3 of us in January, and my Dad’s next week.  Bring on the family time!

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

Vintage Lemoyne star quilt found in Phoenix Arizona.

Your intuition wants to guide and support you.

So give it the space to be heard.

Step away from the computer, get outside and breathe!

Much love on this Saturday -

Great fun to see your childhood friend. Friends are the best. Those Lemoyne Stars are very faded, sad! love the Black Machine too. My herd is holding at its current number. Did they loan you a machine to sew? 3 weeks of adventures, I don't blame you for wanting to pet the machine.

Lol - the comment to step outside and breathe. No can do! To cold to inhale out there. But warming up quickly and I am SOOOO excited that Phil says we are going to have an early spring. Maybe this will be the year that we have a nice, long spring instead of going from snow and cold to 80°. Wouldn't that be lovely?

Enjoy your time out west. You'll soon be sleeping in your own bed.

Yes traffic was bad yesterday, worse than usual partly due to the big golf tournament. We were downtown for the Quilt Expo at the fairgrounds - you should see if it's there when you are in Phoenix next year.

There is nothing like spending time with a lifelong friend. Combining work with family time and GF time makes everything better.

You and Jules look like sisters, if not twins! How fun is that? I feel like WE are sisters at heart - your comments and feelings about sewing and missing it is so me. Vacations are lovely, but even better if I could just bring my machine along! (Not everyone understand that!) Love the look at that machine!!

Thanks for sharing your life.

Can I stay in and play on the computer now? I was outside earlier to feed my critters and it's cold and windy! I think I breathed out there enough!!!
I'm going upstairs soon to work on my "Warrior" quilt for a friend who is sick. She is my idea of a warrior and when I found the pattern, I had to make it for her!

I love traveling around with you. You are so much fun!!!
