Check out all of these happy scrappy faces!
Yesterday was our day to dig in and play with some string piecing in a Serpentine Web Workshop from my book String Frenzy hosted by 35th Ave Sew & Vac in Phoenix! I LOVE THIS PLACE!
It is housed in an old Fry’s grocery store and has everything from fabric, to machines (from domestic to industrials and longarms!) and is much more than just a quilt store – it’s a community gathering place for like minded quilters from all over. It’s just FABULOUS!
String piecing with 53 of my closest friends!
Including Pat who came from Maryland, and Charlotte who flew in from Texas!
Pat even brought me some Y2K stash enhancement lest I ever run out. LOL!
*Side note* I have honestly never HAD that purple one, and it’s going to strip up JUST GREAT! There is a lot to be said for the sense of humor quilters share when it comes to the on-going-never-ending millennium fabric longevity!
The scraps were many and so varied!
As were the center kite colors!
Ooooh- loving the black polka dots!
But should we have a little discussion about quilt class housekeeping?? LOL!
Oh. Dear. LOL!
All the fun gossip around the ironing stations!
That’s the way, ladies!
As for the sweet stitcher with the black eye and the nose bandage – you should have seen the OTHER quilter – evidently there was a take down on aisle 12 during a blue light special batik sale! Hehehehe!
(No, not really – but she gets three cheers for showing up to quilt class the day after Moh’s surgery no matter how she looked and felt! That’s dedication!)
You’ll find all of the other class time shenanigans in the video below. Click to play:
And while I was giving a trimming demo in the next room, Andee took our class LIVE to our Quiltville's Open Studio Group on Facebook - Click to play:
Now THAT was fun and hopefully gives you an idea of what it is like to spend the day in class with a group of really fun gals! Thanks, Andee!
When class was done, it was straight over to my sister-in-law Sharolyn’s house for a dinner with my dad, my nephew Spencer and his wife McKinna. But by late evening I was ready to drive back to Dad's and just crawl into bed.
well, after ONE MORE EPISODE of Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime. Oh, I am loving this show.
It has been a couple of days of busy busy busy and though I am feeling much more normal than I was earlier in the week, I’m still a bit off time wise! I slept in this morning until 9am! (That never happens at home!)
We are planning on a lazy Sunday ahead. I’ll be heading back to Sharolyn’s tonight as she has an early morning outpatient surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning and I am honored and privileged to be here to be able to take her and spend some extra time with her. I will likely be sitting in a corner of the waiting room with my laptop as she has to check in at 6:30am.
And as always - I have my busy bag. Quilters come prepared!
Blogs and posts to social media may still be happening at odd times due to this so I thank you for your patience with me. Time is winding down here – I’ll spend tomorrow with her, Tuesday with my dad and head out of Phoenix around 2pm on Wednesday to get myself back to North Carolina.
And then some more time zone adjusting will have to happen!
Quiltville Quote of the Day!

Today I'm not only wishing you things that make you smile but a good belly laugh or two as well!
It feels so good to laugh, and I’m so glad I’m spending this extra extended time with family in AZ.
Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone!

Bless that woman with the Mohs surgery. I wouldn’t have been able to go the next day. Mine was done a little over a year ago and I didn’t want anyone to see me for weeks.
Bless her. I am sure she felt much better being with fellow quilters!
Love that purple millennium fabric! Prayers and best wishes for Sharolyn's surgery tomorrow! I am so glad you will be able to spend time with her and be there for her! Happy times with Dad and then home with Dave, Jeff and the kitties.
What fun! Think I need to fly in somewhere, if there is ever class space left!
Hugs to your SIL Sharolyn - prayers too. It's a scary time with breast surgery without her husband to hold her hand.
It has been such a joy and pleasure to meet you and take your class on Friday! Enjoy your precious family time while you’re here, and I’ll be keeping Sharolyn in my thoughts and prayers for an easy surgery and a speedy recovery. Bless you, Bonnie!!
I'm having MOHs surgery next week and then going to quilt retreat... my quilting friends love me no matter how I look! Looks like the quilters had so much fun in your class today!
I had such a fantastic time both days with Bonnie. I can't wait until next year and I'm so looking forward to finishing these quilts. Thanks, Bonnie. Enjoy your journey. Sylvia
I don't know what MOH surgery is. What a trooper she is to be there. Had a great Sunday. Glad you can spend your day with your family. Prayers your SIL. We'll wait for your posting. That gives me time to get just one more picture of my Good Tidings Quilt for the Link-up. I like when your on this side of the country, closer to my time zone.
So glad you can be with Sharolyn. Give her love from us.
Bonnie, I had such a good time on Saturday with you and all the quilters. This was a treat from my daughter and we both had the best time sewing with everyone. Safe trip home and I am glad to hear that you will be with Sharolyn during her procedure. Prayers for her and the family. Can't wait for next year!!
I have some of that yk2 fabric lurking in a box must get it out this year. Sounds like you are having a great time stitching and doing family stuff.
What an amazingly fun time you all are having wish I could be there to join in the fun.
Will continue to keep Sharlyn and your family in my prayers
Love and quilty hugs
Anne xx
Although it looked like a tornado had gone thru the room, it really was organized chaos! What fun class was, and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to attend this and the Midnight Flight class. Need to get some other things done so I can get back to my "homework" from the two classes. Thanks again, Bonnie, for sharing yourself with us. Prayers for your sister-in-law and for your safe journey home.
