Some Very Betty Show & Share!

20160110_133247
I want you to meet BETTY!

Betty is shown on the right, next to her daughter Shelia, and between the two of them they are quilting up a storm in South Carolina.

From what I’ve been told, Betty WEARS OUT sewing machines with all of the beautiful work she does, including featherweight motors!

She is a power house of productivity, and everyone knows that Betty will take any and all fabric strips and strings and sew string blocks to her hearts content –with all of the blocks being made into quilts for local charities such as habitat for humanity.

The world definitely needs MORE Bettys!

Last night after my presentation with the Nimble Thimble quilters in Mauldin, Betty brought up FIVE beautiful quilts for show & share that she has made from my designs.

And let me tell you also – Betty does not do ANYTHING on a small scale!

Take a look:

Betty and Texas Braid

She has a beautiful sense of what works when working with scraps – I think I’ve met my match!

And Celtic Solstice with a smile!

I’m not done with you yet!

Fishies!!  So awesome!

Betty, it was just wonderful meeting you and getting to spend the last 3 days with you and your guild family here in South Carolina.  I can’t wait to come back and see what you have sewn since I left!

There are many other wonderful show & share photos in the slide show.  And be on the lookout for Connie's  completed Allietare top which made an appearance!  It's wonderful!

Click the image below if you are unable to view the slide show on your mobile device.  You’ll be taken to the photo album for viewing.

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

While release may be good for the soul, it's only good if you put yourself back together, pull yourself up and move forward to something better! Thanks, Allison for the quote! Vintage 36 patch quilt found in Dallas Texas.

When Allison handed me this quote, I was dealing with a bit of a heavy weight and I realized that while it is good to unload and get it out, it isn’t good to stay in that place.  If you find yourself wallowing, MOVE ON before it sucks you under!  We all go through things, but the objective is to GO THROUGH, not take up residency.  Leave your baggage behind, and GO FORWARD.

Thank you, my friend!

And with that, I’m packing up Shamu and headed North East toward home, with a whole day to call mine.  There will be antique mall wandering. There will be Mary Jo's stopping, there will also be a craigslist pick up that I will talk to you more about –tomorrow!

Have a beautiful Tuesday, everyone!

What beautiful quilts in the show and tell. I love them. I hope whatever is bothering you gets cleared up and doesn't get you down. I think you are in the right frame of mind anyway so that's great. I wonder what you're bringing home now???? Something heavy that needs to be picked up........ a machine????? Probably. I'm sure it's great if it's coming home with you. I am trying to figure out what to make for my husband for his big 50 coming in 2 months that I will be able to finish in time. Not sure but need to get started like yesterday. Have a wonderful day.

I have Guild tonight. I can't wait to show the Block Lotto I designed for them. I love EQ. Betty's quilts are BIG! She is a lucky mom to have a daughter to sew with. I can't wait to see what is coming home with you.

Here is how I feel. I don't look back - it's not the direction I'm going! I look forward to each and every new day and what's done is done. Thanks for focusing on Betty and her joyous work. Hugs to you both!

Go, Betty! She really rocks those scraps, and probably gets lots of encouragement and enablement from her Guild friends, too.

There must be something about the name. Our Linus group has a Betty that produces loads of kids quilts when you ask who made one "That's a Betty quilt".....

Humans have true moods... some are better than others. Some are along time coming, and build up. There is always a light at the end. At times, the light is dim BUT IT IS THERE. HUGGGGGGGGGGS walk toward the light.

In my life the name of the best open hearted quilters seems always to be SHIRLEY! But now I will add your Betty to them.

HUGS AND WARM THOUGHTS

Go, Betty!! 100% inspiring. And go, Bonnie. You will always be v inspiring. If Betty if wearing out featherweights, she needs a stronger machine! Someone help her find a 15 or a 201... Even a 301. She needs more power!

I enjoy your Quote of the Day, but I really like it when you repeat the text below the photo so that I don't have to strain to read it. Thanks for sharing!
