We sewed up a storm at Fabric Fanatics in Plano, Texas yesterday!
30 quilters came from far and near to participate in this week’s 5 days of fun. Some are taking all 4 workshops, some others just a couple as space allowed.
One workshop is a mystery that I have designed just for this occassion, so while I can’t show photos of blocks, that doesn’t mean I can’t show you photos of the fun we were having!
This mystery will also repeat on Sunday, so I’ve designated the “day after” of these events to be show & share days.
I LOVE the quilts that these gals bring to show, many with touching and heartfelt stories behind them.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
Janie’s Grand Illusion!

I am always thrilled when mystery quilts are completed. It shows a lot of trust and perseverance and a sense of adventure on the part of all of you who will dive in and make without knowing that the final outcome will be. Didn’t this turn out great?
Digital Pattern found in the Quiltville Store!
Hexagons on the go!
Look at that smile!
Marti is making her hexagon project all out of Kaffe Fassett fabrics with green as the path – she is headed to King Size! Atta girl, Marti! Go big or go home!
Beautiful Garden Party!
Garden Party was LAST year’s Mystery and it appeared in the May/June 2015 issue of Quiltmaker Magazine. It will also be making an appearance in my next book due out in September, so be watching for it!
Another with yellow chains! Beautiful!
I Spy a 4 Patch!
I started out in the quilt pattern industry writing patterns for charity quilt workshops for my own guild as the donation quilt coordinator. Did you know there are many SIMPLE and SIMPLY WONDERFUL quilts that are perfect for things like project linus? I Spy a 4 patch consists of 4 patches and novelty print squares perfect for giving to children in a child friendly size. You’ll find the pattern under the Free Patterns tab at the top of the blog. The fabrics in these two little quilts are fabulously fun and I just know that some kids are going to be extremely happy to call these their own!
Pineapple Blossom in African prints!
I love this on the black background!
You will also find Pineapple Blossom under the Free Patterns tab. Make 9’’ blocks with 2’’ strips or 12’’ blocks with 2 1/2’’ strips – the choice is yours.
A lovely setting of 9 patch swap blocks by Deb.
Check out the machine fabrics on the back! FUN!
And a finished Orange Crush! Love this, Deb!
Orange Crush was one of or earlier Quiltville Mysteries. Did you know that several of the early mysteries still live down at the bottom of the list of patterns under the Free Patterns tab? Check those out!
Ana’s Sisters Choice!
We all loved this block –made from a hunky construction worker fabric. LOL!
A great setting for signature blocks!
Allison’s Celtic Solstice! Hooray!
And the flip side! Love it!
The digital pattern for Celtic Solstice is also available in the Quiltville Store!
Yes, it was a very fun day to play with the ladies!
Just look how hard they are working!
We really had a fabulous day, and I topped it off by sewing into the evening with Irene - yes, more triangles still – while watching How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Oh how I love that movie, such a riot!
I want to leave you with the Quiltville Quote of the day:
This quote means a lot to me as there are many things in my life that I can’t change, I will never be able to change, nor should I even be worrying about or trying to change. They are what they are.
What happens happens.
The only thing we can change is our own attitude toward the situation and how we are going to react to it.
What are you going to let go of today?
Have a wonderful New Years Eve, everyone – let’s bring in 2016 with open hearts and focus on the things we CAN change and DO IT!

The Grand Illusion and Garden Party quilts are mine. Janie Steele, Moore , Oklahoma. Had a great day sewing with a good group. The quilt is top secret until Quiltmaker publishes in The spring. Quilt On!
My 7 year old granddaughter was staying over. After a commercial was on a couple of times she started to question what does "own it" mean. We had a great conversation around taking responsibility for your self and how you feel about your self. She is thinking about what she can do to improve. I know I am continuing my weight loss through to my 100 lb goal. Currently at 75 lost lbs. I also know I have to let go of responsibility I feel for my adult sister. I will always be there to support her but I cannot control her destiny and I cannot feel guilty about "her" choices.
Thank you Bonnie for all your inspiration. My first clean in my sewing room will be to blow out all the fabric I will never use. I have more than enough fun and beautiful fabric to last me to the end of my sewing days. I have some left over panels that I am making to charity quilts to be distributed through our guild. Then onto finish my scrappy quilt that is in progress. I also have my blue hexi that travels with me for those moments at work or waiting. I am getting close to the top being all together. Hopefully in 2016.
Enjoy the rest of your stay,
Elaine

I'm letting go of the guilt for starting so many quilts last year. I always start more than I finish. I will see quilts that scream at me to make them all year. I'd have to stop blog hopping to avoid seeing all of them. Singing, "Let it GO!" Thanks to my Niece this AM for that earworm.
Thanks for your inspiration!
I am with Elaine, I need to just let some fabric go. I can rent a table at our guild and sell it at a much reduced cost (but it's a sunk cost now, so anything is good!). We have a service program that provides quilts for a number of things: fire victims, teen mothers at an alternative high school, troopers/police for accident victims, etc. I will see if they need fabric. There is also a local church that makes charity quilts. Many options, just need to get it done. And before anyone says it, I will still have lots and lots and lots of scraps to make Bonnie's patterns. :) It helps that I want to move my treadle machine back into the sewing room, instead of just using it as furniture. Right now there's no space for it.
