Camp Weed, Day One! My Blue Heaven!

What do you get when you bring 40 Retreaters together with loads of scraps, lots of excitement, and a huge treat table?

A whole lot of fun in one big room!

Camp Weed is a great facility - just look at how much space we have!

We can walk around the tables or even do the Macarena and there is room to spare and room to share.

We started our My Blue Heaven workshop at 9 a.m. this morning with a break at noon for a yummy lunch served in the dining hall.

Many of the ladies are still going strong sewing away, while I took a break at the end of my day to squeeze in a wonderful hour long massage and a little walk back to my room to send up this blog post before dinner.

These ladies are a hoot and I know there will be lots of sewing and laughter into the late night hours.
I am giving up on the idea of catching any beauty sleep at all!
When it comes down to it, isn't that what retreat is all about?

Love from Live Oak, Florida!

Camp Weed is a wonderful place. My quilt group from Jacksonville is going there for retreat 4 times a year. Our group is much smaller, though, so we always get the conference room right across the court yard from the dining hall.

Bonnie, Do you have a method to make 2" finished size HSTs that come out the exact right size and shape? I like small things. They make scrappy quilts [may favorite] look so much more interesting. I like things that the eye can't fully comprehend in one glance.

Do you use your walking foot to sew them up? Or that a paper backing to make them? Or do you just not do them? I know you have specialty rulers for cutting them out and I can cut out okay with what I have, but something happens with the sewing.

Is this just something that is "hard" and that you don't cover? Or ????

Thanks so much! Laurie, leavesongrass@cox.net

Are these workshops or retreats closed to specific groups/guilds, or can other people join in? I live near Asheville, NC, and I'd love to join in at one of these retreats if available. Thanks!

Love the orange and brown version! But what are all the little colored boxes shown on the table beside her?
