Goofy girls at the ironing board!
You know, that is where all the good gossip happens – Standing around the Ironing Station is like standing around the water cooler in the office ---
Aren’t these ladies just the bees knees??
Yesterday was our last sewing day at Paradise Sewing in Poway.
I also got to know the staff who work there, as well as the machine tech guy Eddie ---and you can bet we had some pretty great conversations about vintage machines and how to tweak this or fix that – in fact I have a skype session on the horizon where he can show me how and where to lube that little green grasshopper I’ve got that has been sewing SO SLOW! Whoowhooo!
Yesterday’s My Blue Heaven workshop was split between the two guilds, and it made for a fun mix of ladies from in and out of the area.
2..5” strips in colors, and neutrals ----Easy Angle ruler for 1/2 square triangles, Companion Angle ruler for 1/4 square triangles…..and flying geese to boot! So many basic units that we use all of the time in traditional quilt making, and it does my heart good to hear exclamations of things like:
“It came out right the first time!”
“I have never made flying geese this easily!”
“Now I think I love hour glass units!”
Such a great great group of ladies!

Last night we switched guilds and I am now in El Cajon with the Sunshine Quilters!
Hey, everybody! Let’s talk about Leaders & Enders!
Fun meeting last night with loads of show and share, and I’ll be posting photos of all of the show and share quilts over the weekend while I am adjusting up at the cabin.
Oh, funny of funnies ---
A few days ago I got a message that Fed Ex was trying to deliver a package ---SIGNATURE REQUIRED. Well of course, that doesn’t work because I’m in California, the Hubster was in Willington on business, and son Jeff was at work in Winston Salem.
I logged into my account and had the package held at a local Fed Ex Office location ---not a problem until I got a call today saying they couldn’t hold it any longer.
Did I forget to mention that I have no idea what this package is, who it is from ((Didn’t recognize the address)) and that it weighs 63 pounds??!
I am thinking by this time that someone has sent me a sewing machine!
Or a 60 pound box of y2k fabric! Ha! We have had my students speculating over the past couple of days just WHAT could be in this box!
Well, long story short, Jeff picked up the box yesterday, opened it, and you want to know what it contains?
63 lbs of SEAM GUIDE RULERS! Hahahahahah!!!
I forgot I had ordered these about a month ago and had said “no rush” on them, just before New Years when my travel schedule ramps up again!
Looks like there is no y2k fabric danger for me this week! YAY!
And no one is sending me a fabulous vintage sewing machine either ---oh, well!

Winston Ways workshop is up on deck this morning with the Sunshine Quilters ---and then there is talk of escaping for a much needed pedicure with my friend Sandi ---I’m all for that.
Have a great Wednesday, everyone!

even I don't have 63 lbs of Y2K fabric! you're safe.
Some great photos of the blocks your ladies turned out today. All lovely but the blocks in the bottom left of the last row really shimmer with that touch of purple.
63 pounds of seam guides.....how funny:) San Diego has so enjoyed having you here this past week. Great photos of all the quilt blocks that have been made so far. Fun times:-)
Love the red, white and blue version! It's such fun to see your patterns in different color combinations.
OMG! That's a lot of rulers! Too funny!
