A Night at Cody Creek!

20140830_174738
Out in the middle of mostly nowhere Dobson, NC is a very unique place called  Cody Creek.

It’s more than a restaurant – it’s a whole getaway!

There are cabins to rent, a covered bridge, a little church that also straddles the creek with the creek burbling underneath.

It’s a place for family reunions, for weddings, for other events, but the biggest draw of all is the restaurant.  Be prepared to wait a LONG TIME to get in – the place is huge, but so is the clientele waiting to be seated!

We put our names on the list and then had time to wander the grounds and take some photos.

Stop by the general store for a cold coke or an ice cream while you wait!

((Yes, life is short, eat the ice cream first!))

The little log chapel across a field

It was a beautiful evening, but still, muggy and HOT!

Classic cars!

We got there just a bit too late.  There was a classic car club that had all driven to Cody Creek to enjoy a dinner together…..to beat the crowds they arrived at 4pm and were just dispersing as we were wandering the grounds…I LOVE classic cars as much as I love vintage sewing machines….and it was fun to talk to the owners.

Sweet ride!

I love this style with the skirted wheel wells….makes the car look like it has no tires at all!  There was a group of 3 ladies in this beauty – Classic cars are not just for guys!

They certainly don’t make them like this anymore!

We had a great evening out with friends and made it home after 9pm.

And yes, there was SOME sewing yesterday – I’m making more blocks:

Since you love classic cars you must get someone to take you to the Fountainhead antique car museum when you're in Fairbanks next year!

Love the vintage cars too, especially the hood ornaments. Looks like a nice place to visit.

I love antique cars...have a 1954 MG TF (like in Love Story). When we are traveling we stop at about as many car museums as quilts shops.....maybe I should say we spend as much time in one as the other!

In Paducah to go to National Quilt Museum tomorrow and will go to Paula's Quilting Pantry on way home.

Thanks for posting your blocks-in-progress. Scrap quilting, with all the colors and pattern combinations, is a bit overwhelming for me, to say the least. Seeing what you are doing is helping this first time scrapper.
