So I laid out the string spider web blocks and I do not like the green.
I love the green by itself, but I do not like it in this placement in this quilt.
I feel like the character in Dr Seuss, I do not like green eggs and ham! I do not like them Sam I am!
So I am thinking I will just alternate pink, yellow, pink, yellow and call it good. There is enough going on in the string spiderwebs themselves to make the changing of background colors too much and way too chaotic.
The best consolation of all, treadling on the front porch! I absolutely love it out here, and the addition of the new ceiling fans make it very comfortable to sit and sew out here enjoying the view of the Blue Ridge Mountains in front of me.

I was looking at the photo on my Facebook feed. That photo is kinda blurred so I didn't really notice that the green and yellow were wrapping around the pink. What I did see was pink running straight up, fading into yellow, fading into green. I like the green. Maybe you change the layout and make columns. Pink in the middle, yellow flanking the pink, green flanking the yellow. Or change the color placement. Just some thoughts.
I just don't know how you can sew so quickly, and even on a treadle! You accomplish so much, and I love watching your projects grow. I like the green, too, but since it is your quilt, you get to decide :-) Enjoy!
OOHH I love the green and yellow together, course the pink is great too - but yellow/green/yellow would use up the green!

I also like the green- but not with the pink. If your heart is set with pink, ditch the green.
Love all your pictures! Maybe you could pair the green with blue in another quilt. You have made me appreciate string quilts and I hope to complete one someday.

First let me say that I adore your work and to criticize it seems like sacrilege, but this one time, I'd like to call something to your attention. Looking at the changing backgrounds are triggering a migraine. (I suffer from chronic migraines. And migraine suffers, like seizure suffers, can react to colors and patterns.) If this were my quilt, I'd pick one color for the background and use it throughout (even if it meant buying some fabric).
I love the way the yellow stars march up the quilt. Puts me in mind of a strippy quilt.
You can always send the green ones to me . . . .
I really like the green also. very refreshing feeling. But greens photograph so differently and are also perceived so differently by individuals. It's your quilt! Do what suits you are you always tell us! It's beautiful.
I just got back from the LQS and buying a turquiosey-green to do this pattern with! LOL! I am glad you'd like the green alone.

I like the green and yellow but I really don't like the pink. Just doesn't belong there. Sorry Maybe if you went diagonal across with the different colors. Maybe add a lt blue kris

I, too, like the green round of stars. If you were to put it up for a vote, I'd vote to stay the course and go with what you had planned. Can't wait to see the finished quilt, regardless of which way you go!
Hey Bonnie, funny that you talk about green, my student was going to use green for outer border for her baby quilt but it ended up being too busy, so we're using it for the back and binding which worked out because she made a mistake on yardage and has enough.
Anyway, the green tone that you have seem darker than the bright pinks and yellows. That might be what made you shake your head. You mentioned alternating the pinks and yellows, did you try alternating the greens in too? (almost like trip around the world). Have fun! It will turn out great no matter what!!!
The green will look great on the back....I would make a row with blue or orange or purple. Or just change up the green into a lime green. But then I love the brights and that green is a little dull.
Personally, I like the green but not the pink. Maybe a blue might work instead of pink, but then, I don't get to view the colors like you do. Fabrics always look different in person. I enjoyed the posting by acoelke. Very cute. You may end up with two quilts, but they will look great because you have real "quilt sense".

I agree about the green, Bonnie. I believe it's the particular shade of green you have. It doesn't have the same intensity as the pink and yellow.
I like the green. It gives a calming frame for the vibrant pink and yellow.
I think you are correct, that green is wrong...too drab when placed against the pop of yellow and pink. What about a spring green?

I don't like the green either. Perhaps it is the shade of green with the yellow and pink or perhaps too much green. Maybe the green should be in the center, then yellow, then pink. Shuffle them around a bit and maybe you will end of just mixing them all up....no same color rows at all. I love your quilts, Bonnie and read your blog twice a day when you post. Yep. Not the right green. If you were going to do it an acid green or lime (something to equal the vibrancy of the pink and yellow) might work. But hey. You have a good start on another quilt! And the Green Eggs and Ham reference had me horizontal! :D
This is one thing that is so great about quilting...even though we may all start with and use an identical pattern, we all individualize our color choices differently and achieve our own unique finished product. I love the green and yellow together, but the pink is a little bright for me. The green reminds me of the beautiful trees in the mountains and brings a sense of peace to me. I love your quilts and the inspiration you give to us all...please don't stop!!!
I actually love green but in this case it seems too heavy for the other background colors. I was inspired by you to make a small table topper for a little table I have on my little patio (get the little feeling?). I used a similar green as my background but could see where it would have over powered. You will get it right as you usually do. Wish I was on that deck.
Oooo love your quilt so far. I can see why youd wouldnt want the green. Your new plan sounds better. Cant believe I said that since green is my favorite color. Im still of work recovering from some surgerys ive had and now that im starting to move around a bit ive been work on my celtic mystery quilt im a lil over half way done with 20 more blocks to put together yet. Im hoping to finish the top before I go back to work. Looking forward to your next mystery quilt.
I also love the green and I do not like green very much, maybe you can cut some kites in what color you think will work and lay them on the ones you want to replace.

I am not a fan of green...but think it looks wonderful on trees and grass...LOL! Pink on the other hand is my favorite color. :)
Actually Bonnie.....I like the green! I think it is "restful" next to the vivid pink & yellow! Like taking a breath of fresh air......but I do love the pink and yellow.
What does it look like with the green ones in place of the yellow and then the yellow ones in place of where the green is now?
I think you are right about the green. It just doesn't go with the other colors. But you can always use them in another quilt. I love your quilts!

Bonnie, I like the whole pink, yellow and green it made me think of outside a flower with the grass as a background.
You're right as usual about the row of green. It doesn't belong next to those shades of pink and yellow. Make the green ones into a baby quilt by themselves instead for future grandkids...lol Love ya Bonnie
