More Showin’ & Sharin’ VCQ Style!

Lunch time shows & shares are awesome!  Sometimes it’s hard to make students WAIT until lunch time to share what finishes they’ve brought  --and sometimes it is hard for me to wait too….

I’ll walk by, and I’ll see someone flash me a corner of a project in just a tease….Ohhhh!! You brought your Pineapple Blossom, or you’ve brought your Jamestown Landing….and then we save it, anticipation building, until lunch is over and we have gathered once again to spend the afternoon sewing.

Show and Share at the end of lunch has become a definite favorite time of the day!

Check this out!  Barbara has been following along on my latest current hexie project and has the whole center together!  Isn’t this pretty? 

She says I’m not showing “enough” of it so she can keep going ---I haven’t been working on hexies the past couple of months because I’ve been home and all of my trips through March and April have been driving trips.  I can not hexie when I drive….((This is a good thing!)) But my flying trips begin again this week, so my hexie busy-bag is ready to come with me and we will start to see it growing again.  I’m glad.  I’ve missed it.

There are many many ways to do hexagons, and there is a way that is perfect for YOU to do them if you so desire!  This project is all batiks, and is being assembled with the Inklingo method.  With inklingo, no foundation papers are required, you print your lines directly onto your fabric by ironing your fabric to pieces of freezer paper, and feeding them through your inkjet printer.  Batik fabric takes the ink really well leaving sharp lines and no blurring.

A sweet Scrappy Bargello in Snack Size!

And this was a monumental Scrappy Trip show & share….as she had started her blocks at home, worked on more blocks in class, worked on it in between her string blocks during our Basket-weave Strings class, and stayed until the top was TOGETHER!!  Whoowhooo!  Great job!  I love how light this one is – very summery, and can’t wait to see it quilted.

It was another great year at the Virginia Consortium of Quilters VCQ Celebration.  They hold this event on even numbered years so the next one will be 2016.  If you have a chance – GO!  It’s a walloping good time, great teachers, awesome classes, just wonderful!

So – here we are at Monday.  I’m starting to put things in piles that MUST go to Michigan with me on Thursday.  I need to switch out the trunk show, and ship class supplies ahead today.  I’ve got a pdf pattern to write up that will have SOMETHING to do with the airing of my episode of The Quilt Show that happens May 12.  That’s just a couple weeks away, and I am so excited.

I’ve got my post to write for the blog hop for Vol 9 of 100 blocks by 100 designers!  My day is May 1st – I’ll be on the road so that needs to be written ahead –more info on that to follow,

And I’ll be spending time at my desk cleaning out all the emails that came in over the past long weekend ---

It’s good to be HOME!
