Evening Edition…((And A Free Kindle Book!))

This just in:

Fatal Destiny by Marie Force is free today from the Amazon Kindle store, and has received a perfect 5 out of 5 stars based on 8 customer reviews.

Here is the book’s description from the Amazon website:

With the week of their wedding finally upon them, Washington, D.C., Police Lieutenant Sam Holland and her fiancé, Senator Nick Cappuano, are at odds. In the aftermath of a tragic loss, they struggle to reconnect as the big day draws near, but their work keeps pulling them apart. When a new clue into a cold case surfaces, Nick asks Sam not to take any foolish chances before the wedding and to leave it alone for the time being.

Sam agrees, but she can’t let it go entirely and winds up trapped in an explosive situation. Then an unwelcome visitor from her past threatens her future happiness… With trouble at every turn, will Sam survive long enough to walk down the aisle?

Check before clicking to see if it is still free…it just was for me!

It’s been a putzy day. And even though the elephant has moved off my chest, the throat is too sore and the voice too gone to be able to go spend friend time the way I wanted this week! I had to beg out with a friend and cancel a little side trip that I’d been looking forward to. Just color me BUMMED!

But even when a bit under the weather, life goes on…and hopefully there will be a next time. Today I tackled monotonous things like clearing all office areas of paper clutter, getting caught up on contracts, calendar and book orders --- There were some that were supposed to go out yesterday, ((Thanks to Monday being a holiday here)) but with the visit to the doc and the pharmacy and how I felt…I’m a day later than I thought I would be. But they are done.

I also booked my flights for Maine and New Mexico in October! What great months to visit these two places that I’ve never really explored. I’ve DEFINITELY never been to Maine. And the only time I was ever in New Mexico was when we were moving from Idaho to Texas. All I remember is brown everything. And I remember the view from the Albuquerque airport terminal when flying to Phoenix. More brown. But this time I’ll get to go OUT of the airport and actually spend time in Albuquerque and Santa Fe! And I’ll be ALL OVER Maine..I’m flying into Portland and driving to Rangeley and back.

What else? Oh! Get this…..I got an email from MARY JO’s today!

Good Morning Bonnie,

Thanks to you and your blog we are unable to keep the prairie cloth in the color of tangerine on our shelves. THANKS!!!

We do have more on order and hopefully it will be here very soon so we can make yours and our customers happy. We have a blog ourselves. Our blog and email newsletter reaches 20,000 plus every two weeks. Karen Dominguez-Brann is our editor and we would love for her to do a story about you and your quilts. If you interested, and I hope you are, please let us know and we will have Karen get in touch with you.

Thanks again for giving out the information about where your quilters can get the prairie cloth.

Is that cool or what?! So what I want to know is…how MANY of you caused this run on the tangerine prairie cloth after my post last night? LOL!! And just how MUCH did you buy? Fess up! We want to know how many hoarders are amongst us! And no…I didn’t offer up ANY of mine for trading or purchase to others either. It’s MINE. And I’m keeping it! ;c)

I’ve been trying to be good, I really have. I sat my monkey butt on the couch last evening and stitched the first big fill in section to the bottom left of the hexie quilt…LOOK!

hexagonmedallion 015

It’s on there! And my counting and graphing actually came out right! I was so nervous I’d be one row off or something…like buttoning a shirt wrong. But it fit!

hexagonmedallion 014

Three more sides to go and I can consider the piecing part DONE! I’ll be starting the next fill in section on my way to Wichita on Saturday. ((You hear me sore throat and ears? You will be GONE by then…GO ALREADY!!))

Now tell me something…am I absolutely out of my mind to think that those large neutral areas could use some viney applique??

Surprised smile

I don't think they "need" it, but I think it would look very nice if it was there.

Bonnie, I want to thank you for the free kindle books you post for us. Thanks to you I now own a kindle and lots of free books :)

I hope you feel better in time for your trip and yes... you are certifiable... that area needs nothing! Ther eis already so much ogin on with the subtle variation in colors that no more embellishment is needed. Besides, appliqueing through that area with all the seam allowances would be un unpleasant experience!

Gotta LOVE Mary Jo! My favorite place to shop, hands down!!! I go every time I get to Carolina & I always blow my budget out of the water! I haven't ordered online yet though, so I'm not one of the cheddar purchasers.

Your hexie quilt is amazing!!! It's really hard to tell whether those corners need some applique or just some really gorgeous quilting - or maybe both :*}! I think I'd have to have a "with" and "without" applique example to go by before deciding.

Got the book - Thanks again! My Kindle is full of free books thanks to your posts =^..^=

IMHO...no, it might detract from the center. If it were mine, I would somehow echo the star shape in those areas when I was quilting it.
Hope you feel better soon and I am with you, more chicken soup!

Please do not do any applique. The hexies speak for themselves. BTW, how big will the hexagon quilt turn out to be?

Yep, I like it the way it is now too. It is turning out lovely. And yeah girl, tickets to Rangeley. I'll see you then.

Yes you are out of your mind...but in a good way! No need for any applique...I think it may take away from the hexes.

BTW, thank or the head up on MJ's...I'll wait a few weeks before heading up there for cheddar/tangerine!

I vote no applique, just beautiful quilting.
I hope to plan a day at MaryJo's to meet up with blogging friends and do some visiting + some shopping.
Hope your cold is a short one and that you feel better soon.

What a great email from MJ's!!

Just LOVE those hexes, it is starting to look so finished. I love the look of all of those white bits sparkling in the corner, no need to busy it up with appliqué. Though the nice thing about hand work is that it leaves you plenty of time to ponder th possibilities. Hope you are feeling better soon. Cruise ships do work like big petrie dishes.

Mary Jo's is a dangerous place... I need to make a trip there VERY soon! *lol*

Hope the meds are doing their thing and you're feeling much better!

Thanks, Bonnie, for the Kindle update. I read "My Heart Remembers" by Kim Vogel Sawyer this weekend and thought it was excellent; I see it's still free on Amazon.

I don't think the Hexie quilt needs applique, either; it's lovely as is!

Hope you feel better soon.

I think your Hexie is going to be just perfect when it's finished. It will be one of my most favorite quilts...EVER..... Sandie

No!! No!! No "A" Stuff needed on the hexie quilt! It's beautiful just as you planned it out! No need for viney stuff to take away from the beautiful center. My 2 cents worth!

I didn't buy any of the cheddar fabric but I know that your blog post caused a RUN on those hexagon paper punches on e-bay. They had barely any bids and then after your post they were hot items. I'm sure all the sellers are very happy with you :-)

Well....I'm kinda thinking you need something in the neutral piece parts..would appliqué leaves with red flowers be good, maybe, or not.. Can't decide, but looks like the majority says NO. I've always heard don't fix something if it ain't broke. You are the boss of it, so it's your decision...it's not mine!

Awesome note from Mary Jo's - isn't it great to have such "feel good" messages from others? I love, love, love your hexagon quilt. I made my very first hexie flower this week - so exciting! How many zillion more do you think I will need!?

The hexagon quilt top is beautiful! You've created a masterpiece! Great job!

You'll have to tell us how many hexagons are in your hexie quilt when you get it done. Looks like about a gazillion, at least.

Sure hope you feel better by the time you leave on your next trip. Being sick is such a drag.

Bonnie, I didn't know the little sections of hexagons you were working on at my house were a part of something so gorgeous! Wow, I really love it! As to needing applique...will it be on a bed with edges hanging over the sides or hung up on display or covering something? That might make a difference as to what you do, other than quilting, in the corners. I sure think it looks wonderful, just as it is! Get better quick! Love you! A. Joy

Hope you feel better soon. Nothing worse than trying to fly when your ears are aching.

My initial impression was that the hexie quilt did not need anything else. But when I stepped back, I could see where vines would be cute. However, I would finish it, take a picture of it, and then decide if it needed anything else.

Bonnie, you have done a wonderful job on the hexie quilt. If applique is what you want, do it. Personally, I like it the way it is. You have picked the best time to come to Maine. Our falls colors will be out in Rangely, and you will so enjoy the ride up from Portland. Just remember, Maine is a big! state and what looks short on the map can take longer than you anticipate. Looking forward to Quilt Camp. Best to ya.....

Your hexie quilt is drop dead gorgeous. Lots of work has gone into it for sure.

Love the UFO! I think the big neutral spaces indeed cry for something... Vines sound great!

That hexie quilt is amazing. I'd be nervous about the fit too. I say leave the outer areas just the way they are. The hexagons keep the eye busy enough.
