Good For What Ails Me...

I was at the doc for nearly 2 hours. Good thing I had a quilt with me, I finished the binding while sitting there, and nearly finished sewing down the hanging sleeve! Never leave home without a project to keep hands busy.

Always have mp3 or iphone in your purse. This way you can drown out the sounds of the screaming baby in the next room when they put you in solitary confinement in the exam room for 45 minutes. Me and John Mayer. It's a good combination ;c)

The official diagonosis is....:::::::drumroll:::::::::: BRONCHITIS

Which doesn't say much. As a massage therapist and class valedictorian at my graduation, I learned early on that anything with 'itis' at the end just means what ever it is is INFLAMED. No kidding. I could have told them that? I have inflamed bronchial passages and tissue. What caused it, who knows? (My guess is airplanes with canned air, airports, and hotels) but coughing aggravates it and the condition worsens, and now it's an infection which requires antibiotics.

I got to Sam's Club to go to the pharmacy there. As I am walking across the huge warehouse, the lights in the pharmacy go OUT and I see on the sign they are closed for lunch at 1:30. Pffffft.

I'm not waiting for them to have lunch, and then wait longer to get this prescript filled, so I went to Target. And while it was at Target being filled, I went to the Chinese buffet in the same plaza because believe it or not, a bowl of hot n sour soup sounded good for what ails me. (it was!)

Back to Target where I am informed that I didn't fill out all the info on the paperwork, I gave them the wrong insurance card, blah blah blah. The clerk was pretty rude. I said.."I'm sorry. I'll try to do better. If I weren't feeling so deathly ill :::coughing productively in her direction::::: I wouldn't have missed those spaces."

Turns out..the insurance card was NOT wrong..the pharmacy info is on the BACK of the card. Pfffft.

Another gentleman stepped in to help me. (I did not cough on him. :c) ) and I am now back home..one bottle of cough syrup + phlegm fighter, and 10 days worth of antibiotics.

I think I feel a nap coming on. (but I feel pretty good about finishing that binding!!)

You've really had some stuff to struggle with for a while, and I hope you'll feel better soon. You know, after some down hill, it can only go up again ;o)
I hope you give yourself some time to rest, and get those batteries charged again.
Great you finished that binding ;o)
Happy sewing:o)

As an old hand (or lung)at bronchitis, this past winter I got some real relief from Tessalon Pearls. If what your doc gave you doesn't relieve the cough, you might mention Tessalon.

Did you get a $10 gift card for taking a new script to Target?? They have promotions every so often.... and if you ask, they will usually give you one even if they don't have a current promo.

Sorry you are sick

How funny that my word verification is COLIC???

Take care of that cough Bonnie. My Brother in law (who never gets sick) was just diagnosed with pneumonia!

Several of the gals at bee today told me they are following along with your Quiltmaker Mystery Quilt. We also are going to exchange some 4-patchs as Christmas ornaments (cause that is what the photo looks like!)

Fell better soon....

Glad you are feeling better. It is a lot easier to travel when you are feeling well. We are not planning on attending the Sisters outdoor show this year, but I would love to go and meet you. It is not often that you are on the west coast! You will have a great time with your friends.

I am glad you are home, medication in hand, and that you got things done in the Dr's office. Yes, always bring someting with you!!!! ALWAYS!!!! Now, get better - and rest, rest, rest!!!! That's an order!!!! remember, resting is closing your eyes and not doing anyting for at least 20 minutes!!! Okay?? lol!! You are in my thoughts - having had this in the summer, it's not fun!! so, take care of you and sleep as much as you can, it will help speed the healing.

There are LOTS of stuff They didn't tell us about parenting. I didnt even sign up for it, most of my pregnancies happened when I least expected it! My #4 son has awful, turned my hair grey, tried to kill himself when he was 15, was awful. A lovely friend of his (Amazing Grace!) said "Being 15 was the worst three years of my life"! I said to him the other night I was so glad he didnt kill himself, and he said he was glad he didn't either. He will be 22 next month, going to a music festival in Japan with his GF to celebrate it, a month there (and I KNOW he will bring me back material yummo!).
It usually passes and is all worth it in the end. There is lots they never told us - and I am sure if they did we wouldn't do it. (And what about LABOUR? Bloody hell. I reckon if you had a contraction instead of an orgasm then there would be a lot less babies conceived...). Not to mention that 4 litres of milk and a box of cereal for breakfast as soon as they hit 12. Every day. They never told us about that one either.
Send him down here, he can chase kangaroos and chop fire wood for me.
Hugs to you,
Jasmine PS Or you could come instead...

Bonnie I hope you are better soon! I'm the receptionist at a GP here in Perth and I wish more patients were as organised as you! We are in the midst of our cold and flu season and the doctors try to see extra patients - which means more waiting. Patients simply must have patience (LOL). And eating something a little spicy is definitely just the thing - according to the Chinese doctor where I work. And rest. I hope you recover quickly!
Hugs - Shari

I agree that Hot and Sour soup is a great remedy. Hope you are feeling better soon. I am also currently toting around a quilt to get the binding on - at the Dr.s office, in the car while hubby drives, at the restaurant while waiting for the order...

I hope you feel a lot better soon. Gee, you'd think pharmacy people would have more patience with patients. :o)

Bonnie, I'm not a doctor and you'll want to consult your own doctor, but I'd like to share my experience with you. I agree with your diagnosis about air travel causing your bronchial troubles. In the late 90s I was doing a lot of commercial flying and was always having respiratory issues. One year I got a flu shot. Voila! No more problems. I don't travel much by plane any longer, but I still get a flu shot each year and a pneumonia shot every three years. I rarely get a cold or the flu, although I work outside my home and have a normal social life.

So if you don't get a flu shot each year you (and your doc!) might consider whether it might help you.

Be well!
