It was a bit brisk in the morning when we stepped out to grab a group pohoto -
Some had to leave early, and our group mom was switching out mid retreat to attend grandkid events!
It was a revolving door of quilters and quilt projects and it just added to the happy chaos.
The October Quiltvillians retreat also put us on the countdown to the end of the season.
And did they EVER have a lot to show for their hard work!
A finished Waterford on the left and a County Clare Leader & Ender finish on the right!
I love this big cat quilt! And there are sewing notions in the project in progress on the right.
Churn Dash Puzzle on the left - I don't have a name for the compass variation on the right. I think it's a Quiltworx design, but if you know, please leave it in the comments below.
Two more fun ones!
The Quilt of Valor is a Nancy Martin design. and another Waterford top ready for quilting!
Of course we had to photograph the two Waterfords side by side!
There was a lot of quilting happening over the week -
The beautiful medallion just needs binding. Waterford and County Clare are both underway! And someone is going to love the Project Linus quilt.
Cute embroidery in the Christmas quilt!
Another Christmas quilt finish, just needing a binding!
Baby quilt ready for binding -
A beautiful Chilhowie finish in the sunshine!
And a lovely Unity finish!
Thanks for a terrific week, ladies!
We are now Two To Go! The November Quiltvillians will be arriving this afternoon. They checkout November 3rd which is when I also fly off to Arizona to spend a week with my dad.
Our last retreat of the year is the December Quiltvillians coming the first weekend of December and I won't get to see them at all - Hubster Dave will be checking in on them and seeing that everything is taken care of while I'm in Switzerland, Germany and France on another Craftours Christmas Market extravaganza.
It's all going so fast!
Next section added!
How many motifs? Not sure, but it's not quite to my shoulders yet so I'm going to keep going. Then this column will be the road map for however many other columns I need to make to make it wide enough.
It's kind of like life. We'll make our decisions as we go, and we'll know when we get there.
We are off like a firecracker with our Festival PDF pattern release and Gift-Away!
I am so anxious to see what you do with this one. Whatever colors and fabrics you choose.
Did you get your entry in on the Gift-Away post?
I'll be drawing for 2 winners who will each receive a Festival PDF pattern from me AND a Facets of Yellow color roll from our friends at Cotton to Quilts!
And do check out their other color rolls! The Notable Neutrals rolls can't be beat for building up your own collection of fun neutrals for scrappy quilt backgrounds.

Love the quote! Remember when "good" fabric was $2.99/yard? Sewing was a cheap way to make clothes and gifts. Now $100 of fabric fits in 1 bag, so no wonder you can lift it with one hand! LOL Kathy M.
Every time you mention the Unity quilt pattern, I get the U.N.I.T.Y. song by Queen Latifah in my head: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8cHxydDb7o and zero complaints! It's a classic and very much the same theme as your quilt pattern, I think.
Mornings are getting very cold here in New England too!! But the sunshine is enough to make it still delightful to go out. I've heard a saying, I think it's scandinavian, that there's no such thing as bad weather -- only bad clothes (or clothes that don't match the circumstance I guess?) -- so I try to remember that and go out every day. But there are no ponies here so, again, thanks for sharing yours!
Beautiful over the rails! Lucky ones who attend! Smiling as I watch your two projects grow. Sew many Quilts, Sew little time. Happy Hump day
These quilts are all so beautiful. I'd love to know the name of the brown quilt in the 4th photo from the porch. It was love at first sight for me! That doesn't happen often ! Thanks!!! Anne R.
The compass variation is called Arizona Cactus, and it is a Quiltworx pattern.
i LOVE how Hazel knows she is your quilting assistant! happy purrs and stitching, melanie
Me too. It looks quite simple, but it's very effective. I love it.
