Friday Fun Day!

Doesn't this look like the best kind of morning?

Grab some hand stitching, a coffee, come pull up a rocking chair on the porch and sit, stitch and enjoy the morning with your quilty friend!

This was the scene as I walked up the front steps yesterday morning to find that while some had gone to the park in search of ponies, others had taken a road trip to the quilt shop leaving only 4 quilty souls unsupervised at the retreat house.

Sounds perfectly relaxing, doesn't it?

Inside there are stitchy hexies over here....

And more progress has been made on the Virginia Bound blocks from Scraps & Shirttails here.

More pieced diamonds have happened over here!

And I was mistaken on the name of the pattern - I thought it was "Nebula" but it's "Gravity" By Jaybird Quilts.

The music themed quilt is growing!

And don't laugh at me for thinking that these fireworks blocks bring to mind "Sky rockets in flight...Afternoon delight..."  LOL!

There are blocks form my Addicted to Scraps column with Quiltmaker above the fireworks blocks.

And...TADA! We have a runner finish!

Starry runner is from Quilter's World Winter 2013 issue.  I love her fabric choices!

Cowboy themed charm pack quilt is getting a binding sewn down.

Cute backing fabric/binding!

Warm and toasty bricks quilt top in brown batiks.

Something fun is happening here - look at those small pieces!

This will be the Tiramisu quilt -

As found in the Cake Mix Quilt Book working with layer cakes.

This is a stunner of a one block wonder!

The first half is done, the second half is on the design wall.

I asked to see what this fabric looked like before it was cut up.  It may surprise you!

Large Asian floral print!

And yay!  We had the perfect evening for sitting around the fire pit!

Complete with all the makings for s'mores!

As for me, give me a perfectly roasted marshmallow all by itself and I'm a happy girl.

And a bit of Mabel hoping that some will drop to the ground, just for her!

(Zoey was here too, but out of camera range...)

It was a fun filled day and I was exhausted by the time we went home and headed straight to bed.  No hexie stitching last evening. No progress made there.,

But tonight?  I'm planning on stitching until I finish adding that diagonal row.

The binding is on my Old Town little quilt and I'm ready to move on to stitching that down during evening handwork time.

Saturday?  Mid retreat laundry day for washing all towels, washcloths and kitchen linens.

And more sewing!  It's a toss up between the blue strings, or back to those bazillion flying geese.

What's up for your weekend?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Of course chocolate can always be replaced by pizza, Chinese food, ice cream, you get the idea!
But the fabric - always the fabric!

I had to spend the morning with my friends at Kimberbell for Kimberbell Day. I stitched not quite a zillion Flying geese for my Up on the Housetop Christmas QAL. Glad you got some fireplace time in before Summer is over.

My weekend and week has been trying to put my house back together after leaving hubby unsupervised for almost a month.

I have some log cabin blocks in progress, then back to quilting up a baby quilt. II've also been turning my strings into 6.5 inch units, sometime I'll have to decide what to make!

Looks like the perfect way to start and end the day--stitching with a friend and roasting marshmallows over a fire pit!
I've always wanted to make a one block wonder quilt. I have a large floral print that would work. I wouldn't have even thought of that if you hadn't shown us what some friends are working on--thanks Bonnie! Can't wait until tomorrow to see progress on the projects.
Good to see Mabel. She has such a pretty face.
