Say Hello to BLOOM!

I was working on finishing up this little quilt before I headed to Arizona for a much awaited visit with my Dad and brother Scott.

This little quilt was designed and made with my Craftours travel in mind - and will be making its debut in January when we travel to Australia.

I am SO super excited!

Small projects are great for travel - and it's my hope that by the time we return home that folks will have their center embroidery done, and will be excited to get their patchwork borders on -

Now that that is off my to-do list, I can get back to focusing on the BIGGIE for this week.

Are you ready? I've really been enjoying watching the fabric pull posts happening on our Quiltville’s Open Studio group on Facebook. So many different styles and color choices.  It's going to be amazing watching these quilts come together!

Almost There!

Here is an update on my red/white/blue star quilt made out of recycled shirts from the BACK -

That's all the area left to quilt - and it won't take more than a week.

It may be done BEFORE I leave for England on Black Friday - 

From the front - Not far to go!

I love this quilt - it also has me thinking of my upcoming trip to England, and the colors of the Union Jack. And Australia - and the colors of their flag, called the Blue Ensign. And my friends in the Netherlands, and also France - and then I got curious. How many more?

And that made me happy thinking that others might make this quilt with thoughts of their own flag in mind.

As far as names go, I keep returning to the one I love most.  Parade Day. And I think I'm sticking with it.

And then the thought of....what will be in my hoop next?  I have nothing close enough in the works to take that spot right now.

So it will likely be a return to hexies to get that farther along.

I was thinking of the red/neutral tile floor inspired quilt that I started a few weeks ago.  But it's not close enough to being done. I've barely started.

What does Monday hold? The only thing on my to-do list really is to return a package to the UPS store in Galax.  But Galax also means a quilt shop in close proximity - so who knows.
There is more desk work to happen, and there is time for that.
Housekeeper Susan comes tomorrow and Wednesday to help me get the inn ready for the December Quiltvillians who will be retreating (With Hubster Dave being innkeeper) while I am in England.
We'll do all of the holiday finishing touches before Thanksgiving so I can leave on Black Friday knowing everything is just right.
I want to sew.  Maybe there is time for that, too?

This quilt reminds me of all of the Christmas Tree trucks I see daily - pulling their tree harvest up and down these mountain roads, eventually to wind up in people's homes to become Christmas memories.
