Retreat with Debbie's Bitter Bees goes on!
And I am being swept up in the friendship and fun of these women-
Some who didn't know each other until retreat - but the one common denominator, the instigator of all things - everyone is someone that Debbie knows.
And any friend of Debbie's is a good friend to have - and now they all know each other, which makes it that much sweeter.
I absolutely love when basic workshop ideas create a spark and a hump off into someone's own vision - look at this! All from a simple Split Nine-Patch block. The ideas are endless.
Layouts are beginning to happen here!
All blues! So beautiful!
This is the scene you will see at everyone's work station.
I love progress photos!
This kind of organization is leading to this:
Love, love love!
And that's not the only thing that is going on!

A Tale of two quilts started at the same time 30 years ago.
One is just now reaching top status on retreat at Quiltville Inn.
One was finished 30 years ago and has been hugged and loved and captured memories over the past three decades.
Getting things pinned and ready for quilting!
And before you worry - there are cutting mats moving around underneath the quilt sandwich to keep pins from scratching the newly refinished floor.
Susie before the borders went on -
Debbie with her 30 year old loved and used quilt - these two quilts were started at the same time 30 years ago and now Susie's is finally ready for quilting!
Apple Trees in bloom!
The bees are buzzing and I love seeing this so much -
Even better when a group is here at the inn to enjoy it.
My ginger-haired grandson is 8 years old today!
He went on a school field trip to the North Carolina Zoo - he loves polar bears so this was such a great photo op for him.
Of course he is Mr Sassy pants and has to show off in the photo.
He is getting so tall - is so smart, and loves to read.
We'll be joining them for a family birthday dinner Monday night when everyone can be there. I can't wait to hug him tight!
Happy 8th Birthday, Casden!

In this amazing age of social media the margins around the edges of our personal lives ger narrower and narrower.
It often feels like the entire world has an opinion on what we should be doing or how we should be doing it.
This is a reminder to myself that I am allowed to set my own boundaries. We all need them.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

I just came off a 2-day quilt retreat and am exhausted! How can I be so tired when all I did was sit and sew all day? HA!
You know us so well: of course the first thing I thought was pin scratches on the floor! I use 6 pieces of thin cardboard taped together to protect my table top when I pin baste, so I appreciate the cleverness and thoughtfulness of using cutting mats beneath the sandwich.
Tula looks so fluffy, I wondered for a nano-second if you had bathed her!

Happy Birthday to handsome Casden! Love your hand quilted Orphan block crumb quilt! Awesome that Debbie and Susie have been quilting friends for 30 years--glad Susie got her quilt top finished, pinned, and ready to quilt. (yes, I was worried about your beautiful floor being poked with pins--good job ladies for using cutting mats)
Happy birthday Casden!
I hung out my hummingbird feeders yesterday, I know it's early but they caught me off guard last year arriving early. I have 3 regulars that come year after year. And any in transit come too.
I love a well organized sewing station...
Have a Sparkling good weekend
Blessings 💞
My weekend plans got de-railed. Up early for a short road trip then back home. It's a day to comfort my friends who lost loved men in their lives. Life goes on way to fast. Happy sewing.
Lots of inspiration again today with all the Split 9 Patch colorways. Tula is so cuddly looking. Will she allow you to hold her?
First quilt??? Feathered star! Amazing, so fun to see both of them. Looks like everyone had a great time. Happy Sewing!
That all blue split nine patch is exquisite!
I'm not sure which of those was my favorite... the black & white one or the blues!! We are home from my kid brother's 40th birthday party. Tomorrow we will have to play catch up with the weekend chores & get some sewing time in then! Have a great rest of the weekend!
I love quilt retreats. The friendship and creativity. You can never surround yourself with enough quilty people.
For the first time since January I have a "free' week as I've taken the roll of being a caretaker to my new grandbaby girl born in October. She and her parents and other set of grandparents are vacationing in Florida so I'm staying busy with all things Quilty/gardening and tending to my bees. I've always wanted to do a pineapple quilt so your Licorish pattern has got me excited!
