Saturday was chilly but things were still green -
And we stood on the porch for a while just enjoying the cows as they grazed down below along the creek.
There were even some little baby ones - which is always sweet to see.
The wind was brisk, however, and it soon ushered us back into the warmth of the sewing room.
Evidently Mother Nature is letting it be known that Old Man Winter isn't quite done with us yet!
I awoke yesterday morning to not only the clocks having spring forward an hour, but to this little reminder that ANYTHING can happen in March in this parts:
YIKES!
It's not just a skiff of snow. It's snow with frozen rain on top of it.
And as I let the dogs out one at a time to do their morning rounds of business - I could hear the frozen sleet hitting the rhododendron bushes outside the back door.
No - this is not a morning for going anywhere.
I sent a text over to Gail at the retreat to see how things were going there, and letting her know that we would be over around noon once this round of frozen gunk had stopped, and The Hubster had tended to our steep drive with a round of tractor action.
The wind was fierce enough on Saturday to turn over rocking chairs, and that also was a great indicator that "over the porch rail" photos would not happen.
However - we got a round of finished top sharing when we did make it over for a visit!
WOW!!
I don't have name/pattern info -
But I am blown away -
Wonky Wishes so fun!
Check out the Kaffe rendition of Rectangle Wrangle from Scraps & Shirttails II!
Lovely in 1930s reproductions!
I love this!
Some of the ladies will be gone by the time I arrive this morning. I think it's safe to say they have had 5 days of sewing their brains out and a lot to show for it.
Safe travels home to everyone - and thanks for coming and filling this house with so much love, laughter and quilty sisterhood!
Karen's Sugar Top finish!
I love it! Just the binding let, and it's all done. Great job!
How I spent my Sunday -
Yeah, you can see that awful white stuff on the deck beyond the window - but it won't last long. We'll be back to a high of 45 by Wednesday.
Could this be Winter's last hurrah? I hope so.
Oh, My poor daffodils!
At any rate - I'm more than half way up the second round on the second side. If that makes sense.
It's encouraging to have the quilting go beyond just the borders and into the quilt center.
And I love the texture that hand quilting brings - especially on a solids quilt. Solid quilts can look kind of flat before the quilting is added - and then - watch out!
Also happening WEDNESDAY!
Things are coming together nicely and we'll be ready to make it all happen come Wednesday morning, so be sure to stop by and get your entries in!
(Yes, I'm missing that new spring green grass shown in this photo taken just last week - but I know it will be back!)
Today - when groups leave it always puts laundry back at the forefront. I'll be doing that and some other things - and maybe even have a chance to get back to my current paper piecing project in between washer/dryer cycles.
How about you? How was your weekend?
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
I'm thinking that today is a good day for a simple nine-patch with more wonky fan quilting.
We have a choice on what we choose to bring into our future.
The lessons learned are stepping stones, not stumbling blocks.
Vintage nine-patch quilt found in North Carolina.
And I love the pumpkin solid used as the sashing with all of those traditional blue plaids.
Such a great simple quilt!
Have a wonderful Monday, everyone!

I'm curious. You let the dogs out one at a time. I don't know if you addressed this in a previous post but is it to keep them from running off for a grand adventure together?
Another great showing of quilts by your retreaters. Could you please find out the name of the first quilt? It is stunning. Thanks Beth
Yes. Let them out at the same time and they take off for sometimes 6 hours or more.
My weekend was sewing also. A friend loves my mini quilts on the wall so I started in making many. What she doesn't want I will continue hanging on my walls.
We had Hail for about 2 minutes on Friday. My Tulips are protected on the West are protected a little More leave are Growing every day. Thanks for the Quilty Shares. I needed inspiration for a Baby Girl Quilt Wonky Wishes maybe the pattern that will be for the Newest Crowther, coming in Wyoming.
Judy Niemeyer pattern called Rocky Mountain Bear Claw
It's called Rocky Mountain Bear Claw by Judy Niemeyer
Winter and snow in Utah have hung around much longer than usual. Hopefully it helped with the drought problem here. Snowpack in ski resorts is well over 100 inches some as much as 160 inches and in continues to snow. The valleys have received less of course but weekly snowfall has been several inches. It's starting to warm up a bit and rain has been somewhat of an issue.
I live in Southern Utah so we do not have the snow issue here. Meanwhile, I continue to sew! Got the king size back put to together and now the quilt is loaded and ready to quilt! The quilts are so pretty that your inn folks have worked on, just lovely. Thanks for sharing your life, so interesting and inspiring.
I am curious as to what epp project you are working on, you are the reason I am addicted and have been working on an epp sampler. It all started when you were working on gfg. As for your weather we are getting the same thing in Michigan only weirder. At my home I got maybe 2" from the last snow storm and my friend lives approx. 5 miles S.E. of me and she got almost 5". Not sure if Mother Nature is on a rampage of if Old Man Winter is saying no not yet for her releasing spring weather.
To hear Bonnie say “ I am blown away” now that is something! What a gorgeous quilt!

Lovely quilts and the 30s is a favorite of mine. The rest of my quilts are mostly civil war period.
Hubby and I moved from Shanadoah area to Florida a few years ago to help with the grandkids. We were wondering if you all had any snow and now we know!
Pouring rain right now in the sunshine state.
I start my day with your blog, Bonnie.

I believe the first quilt is by Judy Niemeyer/Quiltworx. It is a paper pieced pattern. I do not remember the name of the pattern.
We had a great weekend with you Bonnie at Quiltville! Thank you so very much for hosting us.
Sounds like us in Kalkaska MI. We will get 5" and 5-10 miles north, they get 10" or more! Much more hilly to the north. Makes all the difference.
I've taken a picture and written down the name of this fantastic quilt. There's alot of paper piecing but oh so gorgeous!!
