Guess what arrived!
The bundle I've been waiting for - with one for me, and two for thee!
In the March/April '22 issue of Quiltmaker Magazine is the instructions for the next set of Ruby Jubilee blocks, and I could hardly wait to throw those pages open and see what we would be making in this issue!
And yes, it feels weird writing "March/April" when we are stuck in the season of February Mud here in Southwestern Virginia - and even to those of you being pounded with snow and ice in other areas of the country, this is is a sign of hope that spring actually WILL arrive, and the pages of this issue are full of spring inspiration.
Straight to the good stuff!
Do you recognize these blocks?
ALL of them are from my Addicted to Scraps column in Quiltmaker! Did you know I've been publishing these blocks in every issue for more than 10 years now? (Where does the time go?!)
Editor and designer Denise Starck has taken favorite blocks from my Addicted to Scraps column and designed a WONDERFUL Mystery sampler called Ruby Jubilee celebrating 40 years of Quiltmaker with them - changing sizes for ultimate impact. Just wait until you see how these fit together!
Moth in the Window is a favorite!
I'm doing mine in purples as I have worked with SO MUCH RED recently that I needed a break. You can make your own Ruby Jubilee quilt in whatever colorway you wish.
Once I know the block sizes from each issue, I am free to use whate4ver assembly techniques I wish.
This is where my Scrap User's System comes into play, along with my favorite rulers - my Essential Triangle Tool and Simple Folded Corners & Simple Folded Corners Mini are always close at hand.
I finished my blocks from this issue!
And just for a refresher -My blocks from the first issue Jan/Feb '22 are found in THIS POST. I'm really loving how my purples are working out.
Magazines are just appearing on news stands. Some of you at home with subscriptions may already be working on your blocks!

And while you are busy sewing away - guess what dropped yesterday?
I'm on the Quilt & Tell Podcast!
Head on over to QuiltingDaily.com, click 'Podcasts' and enjoy!
We are episode 69, and when you are done, peruse the archives and find all kinds of great stuff to listen in on while you are pressing, cutting, stitching!
I always have a great time chatting with these creative gals!
Let's have a little Gift-Away!
I will be choosing TWO winners (The third copy is MINE! LOL!) to each receive the March/April '22 issue of Quiltmaker containing part 2 of the Ruby Jubilee Mystery. And each winner will also receive the PDF pattern for Forever Mine, perfect for some fun Valentine's Day sewing ahead!
Forever Mine PDF pattern includes the runner too!
(On sale at 25% off through 2/13/22)
If the winners have already purchased Forever Mine, they can swap for another PDF pattern.
If winners are outside the USA, they can have the magazine sent to a friend within the USA who can then forward it on to them.
Let's do this!
Winners will be drawn on Wednesday 2/9!
It's now past 9am - and I've got to get a move on and get myself to the Virginia DMV along with the handy paper from my eye doc and hopefully swap my NC license for a VA one and finally be OFFICIAL.
From there, It's putting a binding on the churn dash quilt, and piecing a backing for my older-than-dirt string star UFO - the applique in the border is DONE!
And then we are into the weekend!
Do you have any fun plans happening on your end?
Confidence isn't automatic. It isn't something we are born with, but it comes when we are ready to face scary or uncomfortable opportunities!
It's important to have confidence in the knowledge that we can even learn from our mistakes and that they don't define us.
Happy Friday, everyone!

Wow! Great giveaway! Thanks for all you do!!
I listened to you on the podcast yesterday! Really enjoyed it.
40 yrs of Quiltmaker....wow.....congratulations!! I still remember how excited my dear friend and I were to meet you at the Vt. Quilt Festival years ago.
Enjoyed the podcast, don't usually listen to any. I had the same issue with my drivers license, but then had cataract surgery and good, better, than new!
Heard the pod cast this morning. I'll be started the ruby mystery soon. I just pulled out all my bits and pieces of teaal this morning. Thinking of light greys for the background. I'm finding my plethora of adult sons prefer that I not use white backgrounds.
Loved the podcast Bonnie! I do get Quiltmaker and will start my Ruby Jubilee blocks soon. I just have to pick my colors.
Love what you have done so far. Starting on the ruby Star mystery soon, love the
colors that you are using.
Mabel Mae! Such a sweet and well mannered girl. I am so happy that you were at the shelter at just the right time. Best Wishes to all of you.
