Shine a Little Light -

Quiltville Inn view from Wilson Creek!

Quiltville Inn is once again full with the sounds of machines, laughter, chatter, yummy smells coming from the kitchen (hooray new gas range!) and all is "nearly" right in our world.

This wonderful group of ladies arrived after much long travel - driving from Arkansas, Texas and Kentucky.

Some had not seen each other for years.

MANY who can be are vaccinated. (I don't have total head count, but I'm curious - I know it is more than half.)

All have quarantined for 2 weeks before coming to keep those who have not been vaccinated safe.

My new favorite spot in the side yard -

Thanks to The Hubster and son Jason for hanging the swing!

I am just THRILLED to have these ladies here - and completely POSITIVE about my desire to once again start sharing the creativity that is happening within these walls.

As I knew would happen - there are haters hating behind their screens.

One in particular just will not leave me or my blog or her attempts to incite comment wars alone.

Donna Fairchild from New York - aka SEWHAPPY - I am calling you out.

And yes, there is an email address there, and I will not be blocking it out.  It all started with this email, and escalated.

No answer I could give made her happy enough. Ensuring her that I was operating within state and county guidelines was not enough.

She reported me to the Virginia department of health. Twice.

The "from the West Coast" was a misdirect - as I have had NO retreats scheduled from the west coast - at all - never. Donna up to her tricks again.

The wording here is nearly word for word the previous accusations she sent via email.

My conversation with the VDH went as follows determining we were FINE:

Item 6 as of last October - This restriction does not apply to persons while inside their residence or the personal residence of another.

Now why. WHY? Would someone from New York care so much what is going on in my life in Virginia? Why target me?  I don't know - but if anyone KNOWS Donna Fairchild from New York - perhaps you can shine a little light.

For MONTHS - all of Donna's SEWHAPPY comments have gone to spam - I don't even see them, but this morning on a whim I checked the comments spam folder -

My goodness Donna - you are on a roll!

Donna, your comments are not welcome on my blog.  If you (or anyone else) has such a problem with me - WHY do you keep reading? There are plenty of better ways to spend your time. And mine. Find someone else to stalk.

Go make things better in your own area - Go walk the aisles of Walmart and make sure everyone is masked correctly.

You do you - but do it AWAY from me.

There are others that love to smear, call names, try to shame me through comments but they will not be posted either. You know who you are.  I don't know why you do it, but you must get something out of it.  Your comment attempts will continue to go directly to spam.

If I were to respond to every smear it would become a full time job, it would drain me of all my emotional and creative energy, and I would never create anything meaningful.

Responses also reward those who lie/smear with the attention they crave.

Today I am shining a light - and I am taking a stand.

Sometimes this scenario makes me feel briefly discouraged and powerless, but I’m not powerless. There are at least four things I CAN do in response to constant smears:

1) I can refuse to further give the misinformation oxygen or visibility on my platforms. (Facebook, Instagram, blog)

2) I can block the smearing critics on social media, which I try to do regularly.

3) I can continue producing quality quilty content that helps my followers.

4) I can keep designing and sewing things that make ME happy. Which is the best use of my time and energy over all.

Also from the spam folder.

NO. Just NO.

Again, you do you - let me do me.

Wildflowers springing up on the hillside.

Waving from the porch.  Hi ladies!

Beautiful yellow dogwood blossoms.

Today we are planning a little "see the area" tour with the ladies.

The power company informed us yesterday morning that they are turning off the power from 10am to 2pm.  We will be driving to the top of Mount Jefferson to get some long range views and photos.

We will wander the antique mall in search of treasures. (And fun vintage hats!)

We will grab a bite to eat out - and be back to sew by the time the power is back on.

And through it all we will mask up, wash up, and abide by state and county protocols as we continue to live our daily lives.

It seams really stupid to throw in a promotion here - but entries are still coming in for our Catching Rainbows PDF pattern and fabric bundle gift-away!  Did you get your entry in yet? Head on over to last Friday's Post and enter!

And my thanks to everyone for their support in purchasing my Catching Rainbows PDF pattern.  I couldn't keep doing this without you.

The printable PDF pattern for Catching Rainbows is now available at the introductory price of $9.00 in the digital patterns section of the Quiltville Store.  That's a 25% savings over the regular price of $12.00.

This price drop is good until May 1, 2021 when the price reverts back to full.

Now that all of this is off MY chest - what's up for YOUR Wednesday ahead?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Vintage quilt found in Alabama.

This describes my day yesterday to a T -

And I think we can even top that today!

Hi Bonnie, I read your blog every day and enjoy it immensely. I just want to say that I’m so sorry you have to deal with this kind of mess. You are so caring and respectful and giving of your time and talents. I so appreciate all you do. Please know that I and many others think very highly of you. Continue in doing what you do. And some day I hope to visit your absolutely lovely quiltville inn. -Clara Link

It's such good news to read that your Inn will be once again full of happy stitchers! Please know that "Sew Happy" is anything but and that her constant haranguing is a symptom of something much deeper within herself-- this has nothing to do with you! You are right to "out" her and block her. I'm cheering you on and wish nothing but immeasurable success for you going forward!

Clearly, she is not "sew happy." So sad. I hope she finds her way back to happiness soon.

Totally agree with "if you don't like Bonnie, then move on and quit Quiltville". Sadly, she-who-should-not-be-named may spend her day doing this...harassing other bloggers, or restaurants in her area or elsewhere,
or small business owners etc. No more publicity for her. I am tired of people who know how others should live and feel compelled to let us all know. You do you, as Bonnie says . Butt out. And she has the nerve to comment on your quilt design. Just one of the things I love about this craft is that every small quilt store and blog has a unique style, a personality: some traditional, some bright, some reproduction and so on. If you don't care for their style then move on. Another thing I love is that I can take a pattern I am making (for me and my use only) and change it, if i feel like it. Make it my own. After retiring last summer, I am tackling my seemingly unending UFOs and am finishing a Christmas quilt bought 10 yrs or so ago. I added a piece to each block because I wanted to. I am NOT challenging the designer to make my version.
Carry on, Bonnie. Your frankness and insight is obviously appreciated by many of us quilters. Yes, you and your quilts are inspirations to us. Stay strong!

OMG some people aren't happy unless they are tearing up somebody else all the time, stirring the pot for the next attack. You just keep doing you Bonnie. We all love you for everything you do.

Oh Mercy! That person does not have enough to do - including enjoying life. I am thinking you have an internet stalker? I understand why you shared her? ranting. Anyway - Love the swing set up! Hope the cold doesn't snap your blooms. Our azaleas got it last night. Too many blooms to cover them all - that is a good thing. Oh - posting late. It is Thursday.

I am sorry you have attracted this hater. She is poison and should be reported to every social platform where Quiltville posts anything including email. It would be nice if your state replied back to your hater notifying her that you are compliant. Run your business as you see fit and make your quilts the way you love. Thank you for all that you do.

Cheering you on Bonnie!!! I'm so sorry that some of your blog followers are people who think they need to cut other people down. Being a public figure in any industry or position is a challenging thing to take on. Thank you so much for all you do to share joy and love with us. We all deeply appreciate everything you have to tackle in order to be there for us.

I am so sorry you are having to deal with people like this. Negative people, just go somewhere else.

A gazillion comments already but I'll just add my vote of support for you. I'm so happy to read about retreats at Quiltville Inn again. There will always be haters but this Donna seems extra determined to be a pest. She is obviously terrified of Covid. She needs to stay hidden behind her screen. It really took the cake though when she was telling you how to make your quilt blocks! What nerve! Anyway, just keep doing what makes you happy. If your retreaters didn't feel safe there they wouldn't be there. Thank you for all you do for the quilting world.

Donna & others like her live small unhappy lives. The only thing they can do is try to hurt those they envy. There are a lot more people who floow & admire you than there are Donnas. Don't let it get you down.

I would love to attend a retreat with you........ You brighten my days

So sorry for you Bonnie however Donna has just shown more of who she is than any possible reflection of you. Just feel sorry for such misery Donna must have every day. Perhaps she will receive some professional help.

I always check in with your words and encouragement every night and feel like
your family even though you have no idea that you bring such a connection and
encouragement to my life daily. Thank you Bonnie for who you are!!!

Ms Bonnie: As my MIL would say, " Poor You". I am SOOOO glad you have taken this stand. I am a virtual quilter, one who has no home guild, I work there fore I am ostracized in my county. I am a lone quilter, so your blog is my guild. Your Quiltville Inn is my dreamland. I LOVE what all you do for your retreaters. So glad you are ignoring bad news SewUNhappy. Continue to be you, be happy and host those blessed retreaters! Have a blast, sew a bunch, and never forget to share Zoey Jo, Ivy and Lola, They brighten up your stories so much. You bring a smile everytime I see your posts, and I hate that people dis on you so badly. Thanks for sharing and being so upbeat. Blessings and prayers.

You go Bonnie! Glad things are getting back to normal.

Some people do not have enough to do. She should volunteer at a homeless shelter or a senior center rather than comment on how other people live their lives.

This is school ground bully mentality. There is always a bully that will try to control others. Ignore her as best as you can and don't lose sleep over a miserable, sew unhappy, bully. Jeez....there's always one who tries to make others as unhappy or mean as them.

I am so sorry you are having to deal with this, just awful. When I read this post, I got the impression Sew Happy is a Cyber Criminal. Changing the web site address is a good indicator of Cybercrimes activity. Yes, I have watched too many episodes of “Web of Lies”. But what I have learned from this show, is perpetrators can represent themselves to be anyone from anywhere other than what is shown on the site they are using. You might be dealing with a teenager operating with underdeveloped sense of what is right or wrong to a criminal in a foreign country. These criminals can be any age and gender. This individual has taken actions several times to directly damage your reputation and your business, along with online Cyber stalking. If you should decide to report these crimes, start with your local police department. My guess is you are not Sew Happy,s only victim. I was a target of a human stalker before it was even considered a crime, so I know how it can change a person. Stay strong, stay you!
