Christmas Eve with the Ponies!

I remember a couple of years back when the car thermometer read 70 degrees a few days before Christmas.  We didn’t reach that high yesterday, but temps in the low 60s with brilliant abundant sunshine and not a cloud in the sky made me antsy to get outdoors and see how nature was faring in this first week of winter past the winter solstice.

MOVE!  I needed to move my body.  I needed to stretch my legs – Since returning from Germany I have done not much more than standing at the mail order fulfillment counter signing books, filling packages, affixing postage.  And it’s GREAT.  But that is now done for the year.  I needed to ROAM.

Somethings have gone wild and woolly up here!

There were quite a few hikers out and about on this section of the Appalachian Trail – I guess they had the same thought we did – spend the freakishly warm winter afternoon enjoying the out of doors.

And no, the ponies didn’t seem to mind at all that we were there.  They barely stopped to even look at us as they continued to roam, grazing the last bits of whatever they can find.

I took my new camera up -

I love how clear every hair in her coat is!

We stood a bit far off from this one – across the path.

And when I say WE, it wasn’t just the Hubster and I, though we had come up alone.  While resting at the top just enjoying the scenery, who do we see walking up the path but our neighbor friends Jean & Gordon! Conversation lasted and lasted and we had the best time doing nothing but enjoying each other's company and the beautiful views from the top.

And as we stood watching this fella – he began to move. RIGHT TOWARDS US!

I thought that he would cross the trail and wander right on up in search of greener pastures, but no….he walked right up to Dave and nuzzled him.  And then licked his hand!  Maybe in search of salt?  There were no treats – we DO read the signs when it says not to feed the ponies – but as far as petting the ponies goes? This proves once again that there needs to be a sign telling the ponies not to pet the people.

We hiked back down to where the cars were parked together, chatting all the way and accepted an invite to their house (Less than a mile from ours) for snacks and more conversation.

It was WONDERFUL!  Such a great way to put a close on my 2019 work year.

The Quiltville Store is closed for the season!

I am DONE as of 1pm yesterday!

The Quiltville Store will be closed December 24th through January 1st, reopening January 2nd, 2020!

I am so grateful for your support throughout the past 12 years. I couldn't do this without all of you!

I will enjoy spending the holidays with my fabric and thread, family and friends and hope you take the time to stitch up something wonderful as well.

While the store is closed, you may still place your order with confidence that it will be shipped upon our reopening on January 2nd.

And as always, digital patterns require no shipping and are instantly sent to your email upon purchase - digital patterns are always available while we are closed!

And this one is still only $4.00 through December 31st!

Our Hunter’s String Star PDF pattern is 1/2 price through the month of December at only $4.00!  No coupon code needed.  But time is running out, so grab it quickly!

My newly released Bavaria/Austria project, Warm Hands, Warm Heart is available for download, in the digital pattern section of the Quiltville Store where you will also find the Hemming Chenille needles, size 24.  Sulky Stick ‘n Stitch is back in stock as well, and I am happy to send you some after the holidays.

I also have all of the rulers on hand that we are using in our Frolic Mystery, as well as many different styles of Karen Kay Buckley Scissors in the Rulers, Notions & Tools category if you are wanting to treat yourself (Or someone else!) to something special to kick of 2020!
