Fall About Town -

I am captured by seasonal window displays!

And you should have seen the contortions I had to go through to get this one!  But this quilt, y’all.  Those are individually pieced little tiny diamonds.  It was “for display only” but the colors.  I love pumpkin orange season – and throw in some indigo?  Beauty!

The little town of West Jefferson is just so cute – but it all comes out to play in Fall.  Park your car – walk up and down the few blocks of cute shops, yummy eateries, and you’ll find pumpkins, gourds and scarecrows and all other fall decor wherever you look.  It’s EVERYWHERE.

That’s one way to stop the loitering!  LOL!

I love that bright green bench though, isn’t it great?

Window box on one of the back streets.

I discovered places I had never explored before – and I am on a mission to eat at each and every one so I can tell the retreaters where to go – West Jefferson NC is only a 25 minute drive from Quiltville Inn.

This quilt speaks Autumn to me!

(I spy an H block!)

This one is the SAME pattern – but it doesn’t look like it!

Subtle differences in color/value placement!

The next time I head home to Wallburg – that bolt of Cheddar is coming back up with me! I want to do all the blocks with that H variation.  It’s really calling me!

Hanging behind the cash register at a shop - I love this so much!

I’ve been freaking out just a bit as my 2019 calendar winds down to a close.  I have THREE things left on this year’s calendar.  California on Thursday.  Home Sunday.  Then Kenya on the 15th.  My last event of the year is Shipshewana in November. That’s it.

And It’s hard to give up the constant travel because I have loved the quilters so much.  At the same time, I love the idea of bringing smaller groups to me, and focusing on the whole “Less is MORE” mantra.

This month of September (Even with the 2 weeks I was really under the weather) has been SO MUCH LESS, and has given me so much more time to do so much more with my time.  It is definitely time for the pendulum of trend to swing back to the basics for me.  Home and Family and Friends and TIME, and deeper relationships with the quilters who will come through Quiltville Inn and make it part of their own lives.

I just took a 15 minute break while writing this – The Electrician just arrived.  YAY!  Let the ceiling lights in the Quilting Quarters begin TODAY!  And floor jacks, and enough power for irons -

And this did come home to the Inn!

It’s going to hang in the kitchen!

New to the area – about 3 miles from the Inn!

Yes, that is a black cat on a red dog sign!  This is the new Red Dog Bistro, just across the river on the North Carolina side in nearby Piney Creek.

We met up with friends Jean and Gordon for lunch here yesterday – our first foray.  They are open Wednesday through Sunday. (Closing at 3pm on Sunday) and have everything from soups, salads, burgers and sandwiches to the most yummy shrimp & grits I've had in a while! Sunday brunch was still in full swing when we arrived.

I am so excited that this fun place will be open and a close scoot and a beautiful drive for my retreaters who wish to grab a meal out on their way home after retreat, or simply to grab dinner out after sewing so hard all day. And yes, adult beverages are available!

Last evening’s sunset.

I stayed working late at the QPO working on writing the pattern for our TWIGA project for Kenya coming up in a couple of weeks.  This will also become a digital pattern available in the Quiltville Store, but it is going to my Kenya travelers first!

I have taken all of the step out photos for writing the Crooked Courthouse Steps tutorial, and that will be coming up soon, too.

Today it’s back to the dentist to replace that filling on the left side – and I’ll be good to go to California.  Not relishing another afternoon of being numb in the mouth, however.

I’ll be back to more pattern writing this afternoon – it looks like it’s going to be a desk day Monday ahead.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Vintage Economy Patch quilt shared by Kevin the Quilter.

There's a brand new week opening up in front of you.

Are you choosing things that bring you closer to where you want to be a year from now?

Or are you just going with the flow?

Have a wonderful Monday, everyone!

I don’t know where you find the time to create the Mystery Quilt.? I am so excited for November to come. But, for the time being I joined Your buddies class and I am becoming a rockstars! My grandson Kannon ,he is 11 , was over when we were on her live feed ,I asked Hollyanne a question and when she said my name he took notice, came over and looked at my phone and said “ now gramma why would you pay someone to teach you sewing when you have been sewing longer then she has been alive!! LOL Out of the mouth of babes!! I told him I have already learned two new things!! Thanks for turning us on to her, she is a doll! I wish I had her energy , well I probably did 40 years ago, when I was in my twenties! Happy Monday Bonnie!

Oh my - I could paper my walls with your quotes. Today's hits the mark, as I have set October 1st as my beginning again to make my life more want I want it to be. Lately I have fallen off the daily creative wagon, and I am more than ready to get back on board. Your daily posts are such a pleasant way to start my day. Thanks.

It's beautiful! My husband spotted the Inn right away, when we drove by, last Monday, on our way home from a visit in Jefferson, NC, with our son and his family, while we were on vacation.

I know your Quilters Inn future guests will appreciate area recommendations. My husband and I just stayed at an Airbnb in Philly. Every question I asked the owners was answered with, "I don't know" - from the best way to get from the airport to local tours. It seems like you've thought of everything and more.
