And what a wild bunch we had!
If you have never visited the Minnesota Quilt Show, and have taken a class along the way – you need to. We are just having the best time, and let me tell you – Rochester is a BEAUTIFUL city!
I had to laugh to myself yesterday morning as I wound my way from the hotel, through the sky way that connects building to building to building in all directions – both above and below ground! It’s like a hamster habit trail – remember those? People coming and going – without having to step outside at all. Which would be GREAT in the winter.
But yesterday it got up past the 70 degree mark with full on sunshine and blue skies – and we enjoyed every outside minute we could.
Ready with red -
Or any other color you choose -
We are spending the morning deep into the strings!
We are going to press them out, trim them up and slice them apart!
(So grateful to the MN Quilters for the table risers for us tall girls!)
Adding those string triangles to the center nine-patches!
(Love these colors!)
And how about we sew them THIS WAY-

I did the happy dance of joy when this little Singer 128 hand crank was carried into class, wooden dome case and all. SUCH a sweet stitcher!
Many of our class had never seen a hand crank in operation before. I can hardly wait to see what machine she brings in to class TODAY!
Oranges! Gorgeous!
Black and hot pink – oh my!
Lime Green!! Be still my green-loving heart!
Oh – this is yummy!
They did SO WELL!
The middles awaiting their flying geese are all on the left side - They will soon be full blocks too.
Well done, everyone!

We also had some special visitors stop by that I was so happy to meet!
Say hello to Mary Etherington and Reed!
Mary is half of the Country Threads Duo and she and Reed stopped by to say hello. and Reed at 11 years old and going into the 6th grade this fall is a QUILTER, and a photographer. He was here taking photos of the quilts in the show with quite the fancy REAL camera. I just love meeting future generations of quilters and seeing our love of patchwork and quilty carry on.
Though Country Threads the quilt shop closed in 2014, Quilting is still alive and well with Mary and Connie, and you can check out their blog and follow along HERE.
Today? We’ve got Smith Mountain Morning up on deck – and I’ve got an evening dinner presentation after that so it’s bound to be a busy one. I hope you enjoy your Friday as well!
Quiltville Quote of the Day
Just a reminder – the String Fling book with Talkin’ Turkey and yesterday’s Pfeffernusse quilt is on sale in the Quiltville Store for just $19.99! Do you have your copy?
Have a wonderful Friday!

This is such a beautiful quilt pattern - in any color - and is on my "list" :) The ladies all did a great job!
oh, my, yes! I have all your books! And will probably never buy another quilty book, UNTIL, you write another! Thank you for your contribution to MY life, Cats in Carlsbad CA
It got warm for you in Minnesota. Lol, the hamster habitat trail. I remember testing Talking Turkey for QM 100 Blocks. Love the handcrank and all the colors!
You mentioned risers for tall people in today's post. For any short people who have back issues this hint is for you. I am very short, under 5' and I find them very helpful for cutting and pressing. My cutting and pressing takes place on my dining room table & I put them on my table with my mat or ironing surface and they really save my back.
I love all the different color combinations. Looks like a fun quilt!
Love that hand crank. And I love the seam guide she has on it! Looks like a great time was had by all. pam
Thank you so much Bonnie for the wonderful day! Leslie Legros
Another set of stunning blocks love the colour choices, so nice to see everyone enjoying theirselves.
The walkway sound interesting and I’ll have to google it and check it out.
Have a great weekend
Love and quilty hugs

Love hand cranks. Took my first ever 99K on holiday with me - she is so sweet. Since then I've added a few - even my husband's cousin found a 128 in a charity shop and bought it for me. I didn't need another one, but this dear little gift was one of those moments when someone saw something and thought of me!
Lovely blocks coming together nicely ladies. Super to see a young lad interested - I wonder if he'll be in the magazines some stage in the future!
Love the vintage machines. I picked up a Singer 301A (1955 vintage) at the Idaho Youth Ranch Thrift Shop in Burley, Idaho (for $25) and ever since hit every thrift shop I can find. You never know what might be there. Nothing wrong with the 301 -- just needed cleaning, lube and oil. Love your blog -- your thoughts for the day MAKE my day. Love, Les
What a wonderful event! I live on a farm west of Rochester (my husband works at Mayo) and was not aware of this Quilting event. How fun!! Thanks for sharing.
I loved seeing the Turkey Tracks quilt blocks. It is such a beautiful design done in all the different scrappy colors.
I waited a long time to take this class and meet you, Bonnie. Both so worth the wait - Thank you!!
