Aren’t these big beauties just GORGEOUS?!
How often do you hear in your lifetime, by a footman dressed in red uniform ‘My lady, your carriage awaits…”
This is as close as it gets to that dream of placing myself somewhere in a Jane Austin novel!
Only this time – it was 3 of us climbing aboard -
The charming Melinda Bula, Me and the Hubster -
And a quickie shaky selfie before climbing aboard.
Not only are we in parkas and wearing scarves to keep the wind and drizzle out of our necks – but this hat – Hahaha. It’s quite the look, isn’t it? But let me tell you – it was needed yesterday morning as we made our way to the ferry docks.

Our last sights and sounds of beautiful Mackinac Island as we began our journeys home.
Our carriage as we disembarked in town.
You know…this is the only place in my life where “watch where you step, ma’am!” has you avoiding horse hockey in the street. And after a week here, you really don’t even notice the pungent aroma as much as you did when first arriving.
Luggage cart awaiting the next ferry arrival.
The beautiful town in the background.
Blustery enough to have all flags flying flat out!
And did I mention the drizzle? Gotta love Michigan in May!
The Fort is on the right, the Grand Hotel on the left just past the lighthouse.
Bye Bye lovely Grand Hotel!
I’ll be reliving this past week for many more weeks to come!
(And I’ll be back again in May of 2022, so mark your calendars!)
It’s just amazing to watch how stuff gets shuttled around on the island. We don’t touch our luggage from the moment we put it outside of our hotel room door, until we reach Mackinaw City to reclaim it under the big Grand Hotel tent. From there it is just a short shuttle van ride back to Pellston and our first flight of the day.
And another blurry photo from the back window of the shuttle -
No departure from Mackinaw City is complete without a photo of the Big Weenie. LOL!
(Yes, we laughed like 10 yr olds! It was Melinda’s first time!)
Thank you for the giggles, Wienerlicious!
When one diamond goes missing -
You replace it with something else and keep on stitching!
How do you know when it is time to start stitching blocks together?
Our return home was AMAZINGLY fast. It seemed there wasn’t much of a layover or wait in between anything… Our first flight in Pellston took off at 2pm -Zip zip zip and we were landing in Greensboro at 6pm. Whew!
This is me for now.
This is where I spent a lot of time this morning.
No alarm going off at 6am. No fancy breakfast in the dining room at 8am so I can get to class by 9am. But I already miss the clip clopping of the horses and the smiling faces of the staff who treated us so kindly and made us feel so welcome.

There is more to share – SO MUCH MORE. So we are going to ease into that. But for right now, I need your help in getting the word out on something very important:
In search of this quilt’s owner!
A woman in Santa Maria, CA contacted Nancy of LostQuilt.com with information about a quilt that was delivered to her place of employment mistakenly packed into a box that was intended for her employer.
The quilt is approximately six feet by seven feet, made of pink and green floral fabrics on a white or neutral background. It looks to have been machine quilted.
Julia explained that their package originated in Ohio, but came open in shipping and was repackaged (with this quilt being placed into the wrong box!) in Memphis, TN before being delivered to Santa Maria, CA.
There are no labels on the quilt, nor any shipping documents.
If you recognize this quilt and know anything about who owns it, please contact Nancy at info@lostquilt.com
Let’s help this quilt get back where it belongs! (Original post HERE.)
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Isn't this quilt great? I love that it matches all of the crazy décor from the grand hotel! I see these colors together and that's what I see in my mind!
I’m off to move the laundry from the washer to the dryer and to do some basic things around the house on my Saturday that will definitely make my tomorrow (Happy Mother’s Day!) better!
Have a great Saturday, everyone!

Such a beautiful quilt to go missing. Hope the owner is found soon. Good on you for spreading the word.
I love your pictures of our Michigan treasure. Happy Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's Day! I love today's 'Adventures with Bonnie.' Thanks for sharing your life.
Fun to share your experience with Melinda. That big Weiner is funny. Have a Happy Mother's Day!
Thank you for sharing you wonderful adventures in Mackinac with us, such a beautiful restful place and the hotel such a luxurious dream place to go.
Have a wonderful Mother’s Day.
Love and quilty hugs

Hope the owner of the quilt is soon found, thanks to your efforts and those of others. Happy Mothers' Day! A big "thank you" for planting in my heart an absolute determination to go to Mackinac Island someday, sooner rather than later!
I think this is a good reminder about how important a quilt label is. I've had two quilts that I gave as gifts get lost. Both were returned to the owner because I had my label with the recipient information and my information on the quilt. Both times the finder called me (we still have a land line so we can be located). Plus, maybe one day 100 years in the future someone will find a quilt you made and you will be part of history.
