Quilters Pumping Iron!!
And don’t they look like they are having a fun time of it?
One of the dreaded events always looming in the background as a traveling teacher, and guilds who use churches for their meetings and workshop locations is the probably inevitability of cancelation of their space due to a funeral.
In all of my years of traveling and teaching this way (Nearly 12 years!) it has NEVER happened.
Until Ocala.
As Kathy and I made our way after my pick up at The Sewing Studio in The Villages, being dropped off by Peggy and her Hubby, much loading and unloading and reloading of suitcases, trunk show bags, and boxes of books, etc. – She informed of what was going on frantically behind the scenes since Tuesday.
Someone in the congregation where they regularly meet, where our workshop was to be held passed away, and the church let the guild know 3 days before our workshop (These things have to happen quickly, you know!) that the church would be unavailable due to the memorial service that they now were scrambling to pull together.
OY VEY!
A new location was found and secured, emails sent to all of the class participants, and all came out well in the end.
I guess now I can cross THAT dread off my list! It happened, and we survived!
And the new space was beautiful!
We chain sewed in sets, making construction easy!
Check out this purple lovely! Whoowhooo!
Mother & daughter happiness. Feel the joy!
This quilt is brought to you by the Florida Orange Growers Association…
Just KIDDING! But isn’t it great?

Our time flew by too fast as always.
Pineapple Blossom is a Quiltville favorite, and you can find the free pattern under the free patterns tab at the top of the blog.
I enjoyed my time so much with these lovely ladies!
When the workshop was over it was rush rush rush to drop the remaining 2 boxes of books and “Stuff” off at FedEx in Gainesville and then drop me off at the airport for my late flights home.
I don’t often fly home after a long workshop day, aware of the possibility that I could end up stuck 1/2 way if I missed a last connection for any reason and preferring to travel fresh the next morning. I’m not home for that many days in between returning from Florida and taking a driving trip to teach in South Carolina, so I gave myself the gift of this Saturday home by flying home last night, arriving in Greensboro about midnight.
I thought Greensboro was small. Check out the Gainesville airport - all 3 gates, so cute!–

Beautiful night sky as we descended toward Atlanta.
No sewing happened. I was too tired, and it was dark out. Plus, the light over my seat didn’t work. Well phooey. Just as well. I listened to my audio book and fell asleep. There will be much rewinding to get back to what I missed.
Being home with this girl made it all worth it!
Jeff picked me up at the airport, we chattered all the way home about this, that and everything and off to bed I went.
It was wonderful waking up in my own bed this morning, even if it was a bit later than I usually wake up due to my late arrival home.
And…..my wonderful son was so proud of himself to the fabulous gift he had waiting for me when we walked in the door. I’m just going to let this sit here and spin for a bit, and I’ll tell you about it TOMORROW!

My hat is off to the organizers of the Ocala event. I have struggled to find venues for our guild's activities but I can't inagine pulling it together in three days!
Like someone said the other day - "There's no place like home". Can't wait for tomorrow to find out what your surprise was!
Have to tell you that Mount Dora was on national news last night - a couple had the outside of their house painted Starry Nights for their disabled son.
That boy is a Keeper! Glad you made it home. Walla Walla Airport has only 1 gate. It's only busy when there is a flight going out. Don't try and be there just 1/2 hour early, they aren't open for security very long. I missed a flight being too late. Gotta love small town life. Waiting for the Link-up on Monday, sewing the Borders for "On Ringo Lake" today.
Haha! Those airport photos look very much like our airport --minus the rockers-- what a great idea!
Enjoy your Saturday!
Thank you, Bonnie, for your Thursday night program and happy workshop day in Ocala. It meant so much to this 82 year old!
The surprise wasn't that cute chair you wanted from the antique mall, was it?
You've been to our airport, two gates. If Jeff wouldn't mind could you talk a bit about him living at home and anything special you do to make it work. My son lived at home for about 3 years after college, bought a house about a year-and-a-half ago, and now his friends are telling him he can rent it out for more than his mortgage and move back in with me. We discuss it now and then, but I think we both enjoy our privacy.
Wonderful program and the class was packed with sewing, show-and-tell, and fun! So glad the Ocala visit finally happened, despite the change of venue. That's a happy group of quilters.
Some airports are small! My daughter took a last minute flight from Lebanon, NH. airport when a family member couldn't drive her to Boston. It has one gate I think.
I love the yellow-orange version. I may have to try that. About 1/3 of my stash is orange, my favorite color. Update on Sadie. Stitches out? Any recurrence? Bet she loves that all is right in her world again.
Sadie looks happy. How cool are those rocking chairs in the airport! I think all airports or waiting rooms should have a few rocking chairs!
Looks like a fun session and that orange piecing is lovely with the grey.
We were so close to you as we traveled back to Canada..glad that you had a good time.
We pass near your home as we drive up the interstate and I recognize some of the places that you mentioned. What I couldn't find was the Antique Mall that you visit. Would you share the address please and thank you?
