I’ve literally hit the floor in a scramble to get moving this morning.
I’ve got a BRUNCH date with my friend Jen in an HOUR! All I’ve managed to do so far today is get a shower, and then found myself re-doing a class supply list for an upcoming workshop that kept coming up as a broken link and I couldn’t figure out what the deal was.
And I looked at the clock – my morning time has been swallowed up and I need to head out the door! Egad!
I guess the other finds from my Blue Ridge Mountains drive along will have to wait for another day.
I do have to thank Gayle for the beautiful bundle of shirt plaids that arrived yesterday. I am so excited to sew these up into Sugar Bowl blocks that I think we need to throw in a Quilt-Cam tonight, don’t you?
Meet me in Facebook Live at 8pm Eastern, and we’ll do a bit of stitching together.
I’ve been busy making kits!
My project for our upcoming China trip (Oct 20th is the day! YAY!) now has a name. Shi means Eclipse in Chinese. It made such a stir this year here in the states that I find it fitting.
After our trip this pattern will be available as a digital download. Time pending.
My Accuquilt studio is getting a good work out. Stack the fabrics just right and I can get 6 backgrounds, and 6 colored diamonds at a time, that’s 16 full star kits in a single pass of the die!
I do love this thing. Yes, there is some waste, but it is minimal and I can always use the scraps.
Yehawww!
12 layers, each cut equals one complete hexie star block!
Sewing up the extras!
I loved these so much that I just had to see if I could do this by machine. Y seams and all. It wasn’t hard…just tedious. Short seams and lots of stops and starts. I think it’s the thready-ness of small y seams that I don’t like. They come out great. But You really can’t chain piece them very well.
Still cute though, right?
I think I would like this better as a regular hand-piecing project rather than a machine piecing project. I may hand-piece one to give my students an option in case they don’t like the English paper piecing. Options are good.
But not right now. I’ve got to run! Remember, Quilt-Cam tonight at 8pm Eastern in Facebook Live! I’ll see you there.
Quiltville Quote of the Day!
The task ahead may seem too huge to complete, but just keep taking small bites and eventually you'll get there!
See you tonight -

I love how your block turned out!
Love that purple plaid shirt! I am in search of purples like that .... I need to make #2 grandson a purple quilt for his big boy bed!
Enjoy your day and I look forward to quiltcam tonight!
I'm sharing the Accuquilt love at our local County Fair. My helper is doing her Hexie Butterflies again today. QuiltCam at the Fair tonight!! I'll share a picture later.
That block is beautiful. Enjoy your lunch you deserve some down time .looking forward to quilt cam, and the postman has just been so I now have my 2 scraps and shirttails books and the easy corner ruler thank you Bonnie xxx
I will be demonstrating at the quilt area of our state fair all afternoon and evening, so will catch quilt-cam later. We have no wi-fi there, and we're in a metal building so phone reception is spotty. But I'll be having fun!
A very pretty block. Optional way to piece sounds like a terrific idea. Quilt cam tonight, yea. Hope you had a wonderful lunch and visit with your friend. Sometimes we just need friends to lean on for support. There is nothing like a listening ear to lighten our burdens. Catch you tonight Miss Bonnie. Have a great day.
be there or be square...lol
Seeing how you are setting your stars & diamonds is interesting to me as, the I have a large stack of these stars that my great grandmother & grandmother had started. Have tried a couple of different ideas on how to use them, but I like your inspiration so maybe I can be the one to finish with these now.
Love today's quote. Reminds me of another. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!
