Someone is going to be ONE QUILTY BOX richer in just a few moments!
Hi, everyone – I made it home from the cabin late this afternoon. Irene and I made a detour through Wytheville to hit Sew What Fabrics & Batiks Etc. as well as enjoy a fun lunch out at the 1776 Log House restaurant.
Wytheville is an easy one hour drive from the cabin, all on scenic back roads and the views were wonderful!
The shopping wasn’t too bad either, and I’ll be sharing that in tomorrow morning’s post.
From Wytheville we went our separate ways: Irene heading north to Charleston, WV and on home from there to Louisville, and I went south on 77 –with another pit stop made in Fancy Gap for the first time stopping at the Pottery & Fabric Outlet. I needed more time!
And that traffic heading NORTH? I was glad I was going the other way -- I-77 was a nightmare in that lane. Could it be all of the eclipse lookers headed home?
But before I run away on that tangent, let’s get back to the fun at hand.
Our AUGUST Quilty Box Gift-Away!
Speaking of batiks! YUMMY!
And all of these other goodies too!
This box was curated by SusanClaire Mayfield at GourmetQuilter.com! She has been quilting since the 1970s and was encouraged to sew as a child by her mom even before then. When asked to teach at a local quilting store, SusanClaire decided to prepare her own patterns for the class. The designs and patterns were popular and quilters asked for more – and so the pattern designing began.
SusanClaire has many designs now and her own studio in New Zealand and loves it!
With 4099 entries, the Random Number Generator went LOW!
Who is 195?
Dora Ezzell!
Congrats, Dora! This Quilty Box will be coming your way as soon as you get me your mailing address. I’ve sent you an email – just waiting for your reply.
Thanks again for participating, everyone! And even more thanks to the folks at Quilty Box for providing these boxes for us to give to you.
Be watching for our September box next month!

I LOVE that 5% of the proceeds goes to Quilts for Kids! We get a happy Quilty Box in the mail, and the kids get more quilts to cover them with love. It's a win/win every way you look at it.
My view tonight!
I walked into my basement studio after nearly a week away to find that the floor was STILL covered with quilt blocks. Oh, yeah. String Snowball & Nine Patch quilt on the “Design Floor” from last Wednesday’s Quilt-Cam! I’ve got a lot of work to do at this computer, and the blocks are in the way of my desk chair, so I’m spending the evening just webbing the top together so I can sit at my desk tomorrow without rolling over blocks.
Call the midwife was just finished – looking for something new to binge on. What’s in your Netflix queue?? Give me something good!
Have a lovely evening, everyone!

Congratulations Dora! As for Netflix, Father Brown is fun if you like mysteries. If you like a wee bit cheeky musical, Galavant is hilarious. DH says it's like a train wreck and you just can't look away. I also like Blue Bloods. If you like Revolutionary spy shows, Turn. Glad that you got home safely.
I just finished White Collar - not a really serious show and has some laughs in it - now to find a new one!
Love Father Brown and Misomer Mysteries (hope I spelled this right). These shows focus on people and British life. Happy sewing!
Did spell it wrong, Midsomer Mysteries.
Annette
Try American Crimes on Netflix, it has 3 seasons.
Bonnie, have you ever picked up your entire top by columns before you start webbing them together. I do that for most of my tops. I have taken some flower head pins and used a fine sharpie to write numbers on the head of the pins (1 - 10, etc). After I have laid out my quilt top on the floor, I pick up all the blocks by column before webbing. I pick up each column from top to bottom and pin them together with a numbered pin (eg pin #1 for column 1, pin #2 for column 2, etc.). I always place the pin in the top left corner of the stack so that I won't get them turned around before I get to sew them together. After they are picked up, I can store all the stacks (usually placed in numerical order) in a storage box. When I'm ready to web them together I can grab the stacks for column 1 and 2, set them beside the machine and sew them together, just as you do. After the first two columns are sewn together, I grab stack #3 and sew the blocks to the first two. And continue on until the top is all webbed together.
I do my tops this way as I often go to sew days/nights with my friends and it is so easy to take my tops with me to sew together. And if I don't get it webbed that session I can just bring it back and forth til it is done.
Pam Buda recommended Turn, too, a few weeks ago on her blog. I haven't got to watch it yet, but I will...as soon as the snow flies!! Have a great rest of your week, Bonnie.
HI an Australian series about a nurse who returns to Australia after many years away and her meeting with a wealthy family and all the ups and downs of relationships, intrigue, melodrama and set in 1950's, what's not to like and 4 series so far with 5th being filmed now. Not sure of on Netflix I watched on BBC in Uk.
Sorry forgot to say the Australian drama is called A PLACE TO CALL HOME
A friend of mine just binge-watched the entire series of "Elementary" on her vacation. She says it is fantastic!
Great to see you with some time at home to sew and catch up on your non-travel life!
I love Call the midwife, wish it would start again. I just binged watched Anne of Green Gables that is the Netflix made one, with the girl with the long red braids. It was really good, but only one season so far. Saw online that they are doing it for next year too.
I really enjoyed Turn. It's based on true characters from the revolutionary war.
Just about any Masterpiece Theater will do.
Hi Bonnie we just completed Heartland... 9 seasons. All set in Canada! Enjoy!
Congrats Dora, have fun with your prize! Netfilx, have not really starting so I will follow this post for suggestions :)
I also really liked Republic of Doyle set in Newfoundland.
Miss Fisher Murder Mystery- an Australian show. Great fun and the costumes!
Agatha Christie's Poirot is great too.
Father Brown- another mystery set in the 50's with a Catholic priest.
We also enjoy Grantchester and Doctor Blake.
I can vouch for Midsommer Murders! Love that show. Binged through about 17 seasons....anxiously awaiting some new ones. No one can top British TV !
Hi Bonnie, as for programs I really like Murdoch Mysteries set in Toronto early 1900's. Loving how the quilt is coming together that you're webbing.
Hi Bonnie Heartland is great!! Also watching Switced At Birth, 5 seasons on Netflix.
Enjoy, thanks for everything you do for all of us.
I'm watching oldies but goodies and right now it's one of my all time favorites:
Remington Steele!
