Take a look, take a close look!
These sweet quilters from Group 2 came wheeling their stuff in to set up for class and I stopped them in their tracks – LOOK at these chairs!
It’s a “regular” folding chair, but the seats and the backs are cushioned and covered with sevlages. Oh, oh, oh, I was drawn in right away!
But don’t just look at the chairs, look at the little wooden platforms they are sitting on. There are holes for the legs to rest down into so they are sturdy.
Whoowhooo!
The platforms are on castors, and these little “go to class” chairs are comfy, the platforms raise them to the right table height for comfortable sewing, and they ROLL!! So you can easily twist and turn to your ironing station, scoot to reach what you need to reach, and hey – you can have rolling chair races all around the classroom!
I admit it, I sat down and spun a few circles myself. Just great! And the best part is that they take up very little room in the back of your car for transportation.
I have no information on these other than the ladies said they picked them up from a guy at a show. But it’s a fun idea!
Box Kite from the Addicted to Scraps book!
Unless I’ve taught this as a workshop, and hung it in front of you in class, you’d likely never notice that there was something a bit strange about the way this quilt is hanging. Do you see it?
I had to ask in class, and it took a bit for someone to pipe up and say “It’s hanging SIDEWAYS!”
Yes. Yes, it is.
I finished the quilt, sent it off for photography, received the quilts back after the book was published, and it wasn’t until I hung it for our first Box Kite workshop that I realized, quite to my dismay, that I had put the hanging sleeve on the SIDE, not the top. OOPS.
No wonder it seemed like that sleeve went on forever!
But you know what? There are just days like that. Days when you have to laugh and smile with yourself and just leave it as a reminder that even when life goes sideways, it still turns out to be beautiful in the end. Or something like that.
The selvage chair girls!
Beautiful blocks ladies!
This crowd has got it going on all scrap happy!
Getting busy with a group layout!
The slide show below includes not only our workshop photos, but our after-lunch show & share as well! They brought some beautiful finishes – enjoy!
It was not just a workshop day, but a lecture day as well. And not only a workshop-lecture duo day, but I had a special pick up of some precious cargo to boot:
Me, Sue & Missy!
Missy Molino is the head honcho for Quilt Odyssey in Hershey Pennsylvania and the show happens next weekend. She and her sidekick Sue came over to Bedford to pick up 3 tubs of quilts that will be hanging at the show as my very first exhibit.
I'm like a nervous mama sending her babies away!
Several of the quilts have never been seen in public before - they have been worked on behind the scenes and are destined for my next book. I have also included several of our Quiltville Mysteries, and other favorites.
The show happens while I am teaching in Utah so I won't be able to attend. If you are anywhere near Hershey Pennsylvania, don't miss this show!
Another lecture, another cake!
The lecture was well attended, and we had a great time. The funniest bit came when Mary was at the front of the room, holding up the piece of cake with my face on it, saying “Bonnie’s face is going to the highest bidder, and all proceeds are going towards the pillowcases for kids with cancer fund!” It was a hard running cut-throat auction, but Sherry won out offering $20.00 toward the purchase of novelty fabrics for kid’s pillow cases. And then she didn’t even want to eat my face after all! LOL!
A beautiful house in Bedford
I took this photo yesterday afternoon between the workshop and setting up for the lecture. It’s just GORGEOUS. And huge. And it kind of reminds me of the Munster’s house. Or maybe “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.” But I love it. All of it. From lawn and gate to the trees on either side, to the blue blue sky and the cloud bank just beyond. This is what I think of when I think of Bedford, Pennsylvania.
Today is our last workshop – it’s a Wonky Wishes day for Group 2! I’m just as excited to be teaching it for this batch as I am for last weekend’s bunch.
Home tomorrow ---

Oh I did that at our last quilt show. I saw my quilt hanging and wondered why they hung it sideways...dahhhh I had put the sleeve on the side just like you did! Just had to giggle to myself.
Loving those chairs too...what a great idea!
I would love to find out who makes those chairs-- someone is bound to know if they read your blog.
Hey, I think the quilt hanging sideways is a GOOD thing. As long as the frame is wide enough, and as long as it doesn't have a directional image like a basket or something, this puts more of the quilt up high, and less down near the floor where it can't be seen as easily.
Just think of it as 'landscape', not 'sideways'. ;)
Hi Claudia here (hubby and I share email) Well you all look like you are having so much fun! Working on the July challenge Checkerboard Rail Fence 45x60 baby girl quilt. Goes so fast with leaders and enders. Finally doing this. Who knew? Have a great day!
Great chairs and on rollers too. How fun! I have a couple the need new seats, oh my selvages... I have soooo many. Happy Sunday! Can't wait to see your quilts at the show, hope someone takes good pictures! You're going to love the shop in Brigham City. I was there last week.
Love the chairs. Where do we find them. We need a little video demo on how they work.
I also would like to know more about the chairs, they are great!
Hi Bonnie - I'm a first time exhibitor at Quilt Odyssey, too, though my quilt is just about the exact opposite of yours. Mine is a miniature Baltimore Album Quilt. Can't wait to see your quilts on display.
Hi Bonnie! First of all, safe travels on your trip back home to NC. I'm in MD, close enough to drive to Hershey PA for Quilt Odyssey and I am planning on going. Can't wait to see the Bonnie Quilts! Very excited. I've had the pleasure of attending this in the past and it is one great show. Love the quilts, the vendors, everything. I'll be on the lookout for the chair guy selling those cool selvage rolling chairs! My quilt shop owner/teacher Deb at Simply Stashing says, "There are no mistakes, only creative opportunities." Love that!
The quilt looks great sideways! It is always fun to have a little bit of humor interjected into our lives! HUGS

Bonnie your quilt looks great ANYWAY that it hangs!! I too love the chairs. I saw a tutorial a year or more ago about how to cover your own desk chair that has rollers, but they would be too heavy for me to take to retreat and classes. I LOVE that these are made with folding chairs. Please, if anyone sees the vendor who sells them at shows, inform us all. Thanks much for such a great show and tell.
Leaving for Hershey on Thursday. I'm only taking one full day class. I left lots of time for wandering. I am sooooo excited I will get to see your quilts. What a wonderful surprise! Thank you!
I love those chairs and I would sure like to know who they got them from.
Just love those chairs what a great idea, have a safe journey home xx
Wow love the chair platfrom, that a great idea!
OK Lovely Ladies with the chairs. See if there is a business card somewhere on the chairs or on the bases or in the bottom of your purse. Everyone seems to want one, me included.
