A Texas Talkin’ Turkey Kind of Day!

20170419_110032
There was a whole lot of Turkey going on in Grapevine, Texas yesterday!

Our event was sponsored by the Bear Creek Quilt and was full to the brim with 47 quilters from all over the area.

This was my third trip back to Texas in just as many months –January, February and now April.

If you are going to visit Texas, APRIL can’t be beat.  Bluebonnets, Tex-Mex & BBQ!

((And friends, and antique malls!))

Sunshine and gentle breezes.

April in Texas is wonderful!

Allison brought a Qeen Anne Cabinet and a 404!

I love how she moves right in.  HA!

I just love this machine!

I’ve said many a time that if you are just starting out with vintage machines, this little lady can’t be beat.  It’s got the same workings as the harder to find 301, but it has a larger bobbin capacity, easy to drop feed dogs, and it is a FRONT to BACK threading needle, not side ways.  So many improvements were made with this model, but it still has all of that 2-tone 1950s charm.  Including a “fin” on its lid!

We string pieced!

We trimmed!

We pieced and pieced until the geese came home!

We filled this scrappy day FULL UP!

You will find the pattern for Talkin’ Turkey in my book String Fling. Head on over to the Quiltville Store to get your signed copy!

The rest of our photos are in the fun slide show below – Enjoy!

There are more show & Share photos of all the quilts from the guild meeting and workshop to come.

This morning I am headed over to Mineola – I’ve got Irene and Sherry with me, and you can bet there will be some antique stop & shop along our way.

Two days of workshops at Stitchin’ Heaven ahead!

So glad you got to see Allison. I didn't see any pictures of her at the NETX TOGA last weekend. I hope she got to attend that, too.

Thanks for info on the 404. I've been looking for a 301 - no luck yet.

What advantage is the 301 over the 404?

Received my QuiltMaker gift away yesterday. It was like opening a Christmas present. Love it. Thank you so much. Enjoy your time in Texas. Cathy

Thank You, Bonnie:
I love seeing and reading your daily posts. I love today's quote, too! Live surely has turned me upside down enough over the years to turn me right side up and turn me in the right direction!

Have a Great time in Mineola and at Stitchin Heaven!!!

I am thinking of taking a cabinet that my 301a fits into along with me to a retreat...but I worry that it will be strange that I brought a cabinet too. It makes for easier sewing in the cabinet. What are your thoughts on this?

Deanna W - not as long as you can wheel it in and set it up yourself! Great idea to be prepared for proper sewing! Go for it!
