Emmy Lou, curled up in her favorite spot.
She seems to be saying –sometimes you just gotta put the sewing down and spend time with FAMILY!
So I did.
After arriving home on Saturday afternoon and meeting up with Jason and Jenny, not a fabric was pressed nor needle was plied until Sunday EVENING!
We talked, we laughed, we watched movies. And other than the guys going out to work on the Honda in the back yard, I don’t think anyone left the house to wander any further than the front porch swing.
It was COLD. There was no desire to be outside and with Jason’s hurt shoulder, there wasn’t much that could be done but just rest.
I don’t remember a weekend of such LOW productivity coming from me, and that says a lot.
It was a weekend to lay low. But that doesn’t mean I wasn’t busy in the kitchen!
Last evening was a traditional family dinner, with BOTH of my sons and Jenny at our little table. It was a bit crowdy. But I loved it.
The pot roast cooked all day filling the house with yummy smells. Served with mashed potatoes, gravy, braised carrots and a green salad, we filled our bellies full. Cookies came hot out of the oven later.
So happy to have seen these two!
Sadie knows she is not allowed on the furniture, only on her bed. But if her bed was put up on Jason’s legs, she somehow got the idea that was a loophole she could live with and up she went.
And stayed!
And stayed!
She was as happy to see Jason and Jenny here as I was.
Hexie star #4. Getting better!
I’ve given up on the glue basting. I just don’t care for it. I have much more control with thread and it doesn’t take long to put the big basting stitches in, only a couple per side. And it doesn’t take long to take them out either. I’ve found my preferred method.
Only 3 more to go, unless I decide to re-do the first one – the one I tried with the glue that I wasn’t happy with. We shall see. I have a flying trip on Thursday, so there will be time to work on some more.
These will be a small wall-hanging or table mat project for my China and Thailand tours for this year, also for the England & Norway tours in 2018. We’ve done a couple years of basic hexies, it’s time to kick things up a notch.
The text came at 10:30pm that Jason & Jenny had arrived back in Columbia safely. I could then toddle off to sleep a tired but happy mom.
The busy bag does go with me this morning for car maintenance. It’s a typical Monday! Time to shake off the lazy (much needed) weekend and get back to my normal pace of go go go!

Scraps & Shirttails was published in 2008. It’s had a good 9 year run, with Scraps & Shirttails II close behind.
I’ve been told that Scraps & Shirttails is going “Out of Print” at the end of this year. If you’ve wanted a copy but have put it off, now’s the time. These two titles are deeply discounted in the Quiltville Store to get them into YOUR library before they are no longer available.

Quiltville Quote of the Day!
Vintage 16 patch quilt found in North Carolina.
Instead of putting others in their place, put yourself in their place. Oftentimes this will lead to the realization that your problems are not as bad as you think they are.
Oh, and I almost forgot! The NC Cabin is being shown this morning! Fingers crossed that we find a happy buyer!
Have a great Monday, everyone!

Happy Monday! Glad you enjoyed your weekend. This morning it is cold and blowing and there is a winter weather advisory! I'm staying at my sewing machine....I will get time at the treadmill, but inside today. Looking forward to Quilt Cam tonight. 6 o'clock our time, supper early tonight, DH!
Be sure to charge up your electronics for quilt cam tonight!!!
It would be so great if the people loved your cabin and bought it!
I do have my fingers crossed! And I'm with you on the glue. I may try it one more time, but I'll probably revert to extra thread basting on the sides. Have a great day!
Good luck with the cabin today. I just finished a table topper. Sure could have used that book!
Oh Bonnie!! Reading that your book will be going out of print, well, it makes me really want anyone who has not bought it, to make 'em get on it!!! I don't love all the quilts in the books, but I find myself looking through your books all the time and seeing something new in them almost every time that I do!! Something that I just ignored last time, has me looking closer at it this time.... and I have started more than I care to admit!! I LOVE your books, and I hope mine do not fall apart now, knowing I might not be able to replace them!!! lol!
Loved the pic of Sadie!! My dog would do the same thing - I am allowed on here, and look!! I am not touching the quilt so, here I am!! That was way to cute. And I woke up to snow this morning...... yuck!! Sunshine and snow..... go figure!! Can't we just have sunshine and melting instead!???! And let the cabin sell! I can hardly wait till we get our own cabin in the woods - my own escape with trails, waterfalls, and beauty all around. You always had such great pics of your cabin, anyone would be lucky to have this 'retreat' to escape to!! Have a great Monday and make it a greater week!! All my best Bonnie. Love the new book in your store. Great selection. Here it to sewing the day away!
My latest way of glue basting is to use a 5 ml syringe and a blunt needle. Easy to fill up and easy to control and the glue tip doesn't break!
Good to remember to just BE! I like the Stars in your Busy Bag. I'm very Tempted by England in 2018...Better check on getting that Passport. YEA, for the Cabin Showing after you packed things away last week. Finger's Crossed! Maybe you'll have GOOD news to share at Quiltcam.
oh yeah the glue is waaaay too fussy for me too....thread basting much quicker...and i don't like adhesives in my quilts either...and pot roast with all the fixings??? i'll take the leftovers!
I have no idea why, but I get your emails the day after you write them. I guess I will never get one of those 'S-in-S rulers if you put them up for sale, lol. Meant to be I suppose.
Family is everything isn't it? I love mine. Sadie and Emmy Lou are beautiful.
Thanks for sharing your life with us all and teaching us the good stuff!
I just checked and your post is dated Monday March 6th. I too, get your post the next day. Is it because you post in the evening? Do enjoy reading your blog daily. Good luck with the cabin.
Your e-mail is always a day later here, too, still enjoy reading them, only sit here and wonder what happened over my weekend and my Monday! Good wishes to you and yours.
I just love Emmy Lou! She always looks like she's annoyed with the photos- like you're not annoying fan in her face!
Glad you had a restful weekend,I'm sure much needed.looking forward to seeing new quiltville VA....Safe travels ms.scrappy quilters!
Emmy Lou does seem quite content. She's a pretty girl. Glad you had a relaxing weekend. I'm sure you need one with all the traveling you do. That Sadie is one smart girl. She saw the loop hole and took it.
Question when you do scrappy do you worry about color values or do you truly go scrappy?
