Good Day, Nassau!

It was a beautiful day to spend in Nassau, Bahamas!

The sun was shining, the humidity was high, and boy was it hot hot hot!

And this is the reason why I had chosen to do something out of the ordinary as far as shore excursions go –I was heading out to visit a chocolatier and to learn about the process and history of chocolate  making along with fellow passengers, and we had the best time!

We were already pulling into port in Nassau when I woke up, and it was a beautiful morning for breakfast on the balcony.

All of this goodness, right to my door!

In fact I’m doing this quite a bit this cruise.  This ship is so huge, and that baby toe I broke on the chair leg over a week ago is still causing me problems.  The only thing I’m comfortable in is flip flops.  My cabin is on deck 6, but the windjammer is on deck 15 on the OTHER end of the ship.  I’m saving my steps for the classroom.

BARELY fit into my camera screen!  Good morning, Oasis!

So many textures and colors!

300 year old hand painted tile floor!

I wanted to point this out here because even though there is a photo of this in the slide show below, it will go by quickly and you won’t have the story behind it!  Yes, these tiles are 300 years old.  The chocolate factory was built AROUND this floor to preserve it and its history.  I found it beautiful, extremely Bahamian, and I love that they have preserved it!

Our day in Nassau was a short one.  We were back on ship by 2pm when we left port and headed out, making a wide arc to the east, avoiding any rough water, and making a beeline AWAY from any path of hurricane Matthew.  We are headed for St Thomas.

This view was from my own balcony on deck 6.  This is how quickly we moved out of our slip and into open sea.  The colors are just this unreal.  It was SUCH a beautiful day!

Carla’s Allietare!

Carla (on the left) brought her beautiful Allietare to last night’s sit & sew session for show & share!  Isn’t it gorgeous?

We are indeed having a wonderful time.  Today is our first FULL day of class.  Yesterday we had a few hours of sewing after getting back on the ship, and then evening sewing as well.  Today it is an ALL DAY SEW FEST!

Bonnie, get some medical adhesive tape and tape the broken toe to the next one. It gives you some support, keeps you from constantly stressing the broken spot, and usually helps with the pain. Hope you have a lovely trip.

Loved seeing the shots at Graycliff and chocolate factory. Recognized the floor tiles immediately. I have the same photo. My husband and I went to the Bahamas almost 2 years ago for our anniversary (Dec. 24) and Christmas. Making candy at the chocolate factory was one of our greatest experiences. Can't wait to get back to Nassau.

On a cruise l like to get room service for breakfast. I don't need all the choices in the buffet that early in the day, plus it leaves more time to get ready for the day. Love the colors in the Bahamas.

We found that chocolatier when we were in Nassau a couple of years ago! It was our first destination when we disembarked. We had a personal tour! On our way back to the boat we stopped at the library and sat outside to rest. I looked up and saw a huge sign on the side of the next building that said, Protect ya tings! Oh my! I about fell off my seat.

I broke a toe last spring. Tape the broken toe to the next toe. It helps with the pain and with walking.
