Come Getaway With Quiltville!

header1
You asked for it!

And we heard you!

We have completely sold out in the past on all of our Caribbean Cruises, with much clamoring for “If you do it again, I want to be the first to sign up!” so guess what?

We are doing it again!

And this time it’s going to be BIGGER and BETTER than ever!

We will be sailing out of Ft Lauderdale Florida on the OASIS OF THE SEAS for a week of Caribbean Fun & Sun ((With quilting days at sea!)) October 1-8, 2016!

rccl_oasis

Whaaahoooo!

We will have three full days of quilting workshop time on this cruise, and 3 port days.  Machines are provided, and since I am the only instructor on this cruise, you get to claim your own sewing station for the entirety of the cruise.  No packing up at the end of the day and having to haul your stuff off to a different teacher or location on the ship.  This really IS a retreat at sea!

The sewing room will be open in the evening too, every night – even on port days, so you can sew as much or as little as you want.  Who knows – maybe you want to schedule a massage or a pedicure or both?  Or enjoy some steel drum Caribbean music on deck with a fruity beverage?

Here is a run down of our ports of call:

FtLauderalelg

We start out in Ft Lauderdale on Saturday October 1st!

Feel free to arrive a day or so early so you can enjoy the beautiful beaches and other hot spots of Ft Lauderdale!  And yes, there are quilt shops so you can start your Quilter’s Vacation early, and just leave those purchases in the trunk of your car for later!

We start to board in the morning, enjoying the buffet, the pool side decks, and time to explore this beautiful ship, departing Ft Lauderdate by 4:30pm.

Nassaulg

Nassau, Bahamas,  Sunday Oct 2nd!

After our first night aboard ship, we will awake to the beautiful aqua waters of Nassau, Bahamas!  Nassau is flush with history.  My favorite thing to do is to walk the Queen’s Staircase and to shop the vendors.  Conch fritters are a must try here.  I love them!  There are many excursions you can sign up for aboard ship.  Snorkle, sight see, parasail, you name it!  Be as adventurous, or as relaxed as you want to be.

Our next day, Monday, Oct 3rd is our first workshop day with the entire day being spent at sea as we make our way toward Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas.

Our cruise project has yet to be revealed as it will be appearing in the May/June 2016 issue of Quiltmaker Magazine!  You’ll be able to pick up your own copy ahead of time to plan your fabrics, and I will be providing a supply list and some pre-cutting that you can do at home so you will arrive all kitted up and ready to sew for our workshops. That info to come as soon as the issue is out!

Stthomas

Tues, Oct 4th!  St Thomas!

What will you do in St Thomas?  I was just here this past October..remember I was taking care of business and even mailing proof sheets back to my tech editor! Click HERE for my post from this day!

stmaarten

Wednesday, Oct 5th – St Maarten!

There are many ship excursions that are fun to do here!  I am remembering back to my first cruise several years ago when my friend Lori came with me as my assistant and we had the time of our lives –we took a boat out in the beautiful crystal clear waters to a place where colorful fish were plenty and the snorkeling was wonderful.  This was followed by a mud bath and a swim.

Oh, and a sunburn!  Remember the sunscreen!  Here is THAT blog post!  There is also a photo of the Oasis next to our much smaller ship –I can’t believe that this time we will be ON the OASIS!

Thursday, Oct 6th and Friday Oct 7th are both AT SEA workshop days! We will be sewing our hearts out and also enjoying everything that the Oasis has to offer.

Hop on a classic carousel on the Boardwalk, then watch acrobats splash down in the Aqua Theater, the first amphitheater at sea. Let imaginations soar at the Pool & Sports Zone, where you'll find Flow Riders urf simulators and zip line views. Unwind with a stroll in Central Park-a meandering garden lined with shops and fine restaurants-or melt away stress at Vitality SM Spa. Jazz up your evening with Tony Award-winning Broadway hit Hairspray and soon, CATS, or hit the Royal Promenade for memorable moments with Dream Works Experience characters. Join us on board the ship that changed cruising - a world where innovation rules.

I am very excited for these wonderful events that will be filling 2016 to the brim.

Many times folks want to go, but don’t have someone to share a room with so I have started something new – (AS OF YESTERDAY!)  If you have interest in traveling with me, want to find a roommate, or simply want to stay in touch with people that you have met on trips with me I have started a new facebook group called Getaway with Quiltville.  It is a closed group, for our safety, but all you need to do is request membership. Members can enter in the name or email address of their traveling friends to join as well.

I’m doing this for many reasons – mostly because each trip I take, someone starts a facebook group for keeping in touch.  I have about 9 different groups I am now on because there is one for each trip.  I want to get these into ONE PLACE so it is easier to interact, and to find people to travel with!

So if you have traveled with me before, want to do so again, or this is your first time and you want more info – join!

Today is a “pamper me” day.  My birthday is officially on Saturday, so today is hair cut, massage and facial day.  And then up to the cabin for the weekend.

I heard that the project for the Mediterranean Cruise is out of that issue too. Is that correct?

These trips sound wonderful Bonnie- maybe one day... I'm glad you'll get to the cabin before the snow starts to fall! We are expecting up to 2 feet on my side of the mountain (Ashe) so I'm stocking up on a few needed (sewing) supplies today. And an early Happy, Happy Birthday!!!

Yes, the Mediterranean, Alaska and Caribbean cruise projects are all the same. I choose one project per year to keep it simple for me :) Coming up with 3 new cruise quilts in a year, when they are only months apart is too much to handle!

Hope that you made it safe to the cabin as the weather sounds horrible for Winston-Salem next two days. We are on the edge of the 6-12 or 12-20 inch range. I am just going to roll with the flow and we shall see what we get. Good sewing weather unless the power goes out!

Happy birthday Bonnie. Your day is also my hubby and my wedding anniversary and great grand niece's birthday. Sending wishes for a great day for some very special people.

It looks as it your new Mark sewing machine could be "treadled". The only reason I can think that you might consider doing that is Mark looks like he can sew in reverse, but your Singer 227 (I think that is the model #) has reverse and zig zag .
Happy Birthday and many more to come
