This is the little slip of island known as Coco Cay, Royal Caribbean’s personal little playground.
The announcement just came on that we are unable to dock at Coco Cay and send everyone on tenders due to swails and rough water left over from hurrican Joquin – so guess what that means?
No sun and fun today, but we get to open the sewing room a day early!
Sometimes you just have to go with the flow ---and you can’t fight with mother nature.
No worries, we’ll have extra sewing time aboard, and the only thing scheduled for this little slip of island was most likely an overdose of sun and sand.
We are having a great time so far on our ship, The Freedom of the Seas!
Lining up for Life Jacket drills!
Taking in the enormity of this vessel!
Bonnie finds the ice cream machine on deck!
It’s a party – for a week!
Our first dinner!
Everyone ready to party!
So great to meet everyone!
I can tell already it’s going to be a great cruise!
Our opening meet and greet!
And then on to our Make it/Take it Project:
50 machines humming away!
Our beautiful ships’ promenade!
So there is internet on the ship. So far it has been as slow as dial up. So this post is a test to see just how long it takes something to send! Keep your fingers crossed, everyone and we’ll keep you up to date as much as we can.
As for now….it’s time to head out in search of breakfast!

So jealous! Have fun everyone!
Love Coco Cay and cruising - add the quilting and Bonnie and you have Heaven on earth. Have a safe and fun quilting cruise.
Of course Bonnie found the ice cream first thing. Lol. Looks like such fun. The harp space on those machines looks huge! Please let us know exactly what models they are so we can investigate. Sorry about missing your first stop. I was afraid that would happen. But I'm with you. More sewing time! And getting your sea legs early is not a bad thing, either. Enjoy!!
Looks so wonderful maybe next time I will go !
What kind of machines are you using in the classroom?
Have fun and Happy Sewing
Wish I was there with you! My daughter worked on Royal Caribbean ships for almost 9 years and we were able to cruise with her several times, but we were never on the Freedom. She met her Fiancee on a ship 7 years ago and they were just married last Friday evening, Oct 2. Quilting on a cruise ship would combine 2 of my favourite things! Can't wait till I can do one!

Thanks for sharing your Cruise pics! Looks fun! Hope the Hurricane season doesn't thwart any more stops!

Beautiful ship! Extra quilting time, always good during stormy weather!

We just came off this ship - it is beautiful, and the food is wonderful! We couldn't bring my sewing machine, and I did miss it, but we found some other fun activities to pass the time.....eating, swimming, eating, sunbathing, eating, watching live shows (all very good!), eating, ice capades, eating, putt putt, eating, ping pong, eating, touring the kitchen, and sampling lots of new foods. Go swim with the dolphins, if you get the chance!! Enjoy the cruise!
Those machines look like Janomes. Love em!
