A Visit to Merrily We Quilt Along!

20150924_124508
We took a little side trip at lunch on Thursday during our Playing with Jacks workshop.

Just down the road from Panera where we were having lunch, is Merrily We Quilt Along, a fabulous shop that specializes in Bernina sewing machines, and Gammill Long Arm Quilting Machines.

I was happy to meet the staff and customers, both in the shop and in the long arm rental side ---I love seeing what other quilters are up to!

I asked if I could snap some photos and the answer came with a resounding “YES!”

Rent a machine!

It was fun to visit with the quilters and see what they were quilting on!  The store is a full featured Gammill dealership so talk to them about your machine needs.  They also carry long arm supplies such as specialty threads and other notions you might need for your long arm.

Classroom Space!

The shop samples were in the middle of being switched out so Merrily was apologizing for the walls being bare….I think of it is design wall space for the students!  It’s the space that is important, and they have got it!

All of the nitty gritty info!

If you are anywhere near Springfield, Missouri – definitely give Merrily We Quilt Along a visit, and tell them Bonnie sent you!

I’m back to my hotel.  The My Blue Heaven workshop was a full blast at 36 students strong.  The weather was so nice we lunched and did our show and share at the park across the way.  PERFECT!

We had dinner on “The Hill” in the old Italian section of St Louis.

My plan for the evening? I’m pulling out a loaner featherweight and doing some machine stitching in my room tonight with  mindless TV in the background.

Tomorrow is lecture day – pick up time at 10:50 for brunch.

I have given 8 workshops since arriving in Missouri – today was the last one and we ended with a bang.  I’m on the downhill swing now….Monday I fly HOME!

Have a great evening, everyone!

Last time I was there they had a little sandwich shop right next door. I think it was called the Fat Quarter Café. Good food but GREAT CAKE!

Just had to say that I just received my Nov/Dec Quiltmaker Magazine and I love, love, love Jingle Bell Square!! I think it should have been on the cover, but I am biased towards scrappy quilts!! Nicely done, I remember when you were sewing up those "vintage" Christmas scraps last winter. It was worth the wait.

BTW, see you in a week on Freedom of the Seas!!!

Hope you enjoyed your meal in The Hill area. I use to live 1 mile south of that area and loved that area of St Louis. What restaurant did you eat at?

I hope someone took you to Ted Drewes Frozen Custard after dinner on the Hill. It's a place that shouldn't be missed.

Which restaurant on "the Hill" do you eat at? We love Mama's and Charlie Gitto's.

Is there any vintage sewing machines that you would recommend for heavy sewing - felted wool, leather, etc. Thanks! Joyce
