Updates from Diana’s Golden Needle!

diana3
You may remember a post I wrote, sharing Diana’s story along with her Girl Scout Gold Award Project.

If not, click HERE for a refresher!

So many of you have come to Diana’s aid – she’s had offers of backings, battings, even offers of longarm services to get these quilts underway and on their way to the recipients

Many of you are even following along on Diana’s facebook page encouraging her along as she shares her progress.

You have truly shown that many hands make joyful work – and I applaud you all for giving of yourselves, your time, your resources in helping this young sweet quilter work towards reaching such a worthy and rewarding goal.

I wanted to share with you an update I just received from Diana to keep you in the loop!

She writes:
 Hi Bonnie,
I hear you are in Alaska!  My family and I took a cruise there last year and we all loved it and want to go back to see more and go to Denali next time too.
Today I received an email from Jackie Becker at the Calico Cow and she said she'll be seeing you soon when you come to their guild :)

I thought you would like this update :)  I have recently received donations that include blocks from your other patterns!

Wendy from CA sent these Grand Illusion blocks--

and today I rec'd these Celtic Solstice blocks from St. John's Friendship Quilters in Orange, CA.

My mom will help me put these together in some way that works for the twin size quilt I'm making.  They are all beautiful!

Have a safe journey,

Diana
Doesn't this make you feel great?

If you haven’t followed Diana’s journey, give her facebook page a like….and maybe there is something you can do to help her out in her endeavors.  This girl has a heart as good as gold and as big as all Alaska!

Thanks to YOU -- we won!

I received the following email:

On behalf of National Quilters Circle, I wanted to reach out and be the first to say congratulations!

The votes were tallied this morning, and Quiltville has won first place in the categories of Best Overall Quilting Blog AND Best Quilting Patterns Blog.
Congrats!
Well, if that didn’t get my day off to a great start, then nothing will!

((Oh, yes, a very great start indeed!))

As this posts I am deep into workshop day #2 with the Kenai Peninsula Quilters Guild, it’s a Smith Mountain Morning Saturday in Alaska!

Congratulations on your win! Much deserved. Thanks also for updating about Diana's Golden Needle. Her mother is in my quilt guild and Diana comes as often as a busy teenager can. Diana is a very special girl and I am so glad that so many people are reaching out to help her. I am sure that your blogs about her have let lots of people know that there is a really great family out there that is always reaching out to help others in lots of ways!
