The REAL Improv Handbook Blog Tour! ((Give-Away!!))

**NOTE** This Giveaway has ended!  Congrats to our lucky winner!

It’s HERE!  And it’s finally official!

Remember when I posted on this a while back –because I hadn’t heard that the blog tour had been postponed and rescheduled?

Hey, if you tell me to post something, I will do everything I can to post it on the day you tell me to – unless you tell me otherwise!

I’m happy that the blog tour is a go ---and this time we can do it for real.

The whole look and feel of this book is glorious.  You want to turn every page.  You want to read it like a novel, because unlike books where quilt designs are more like “recipes”  The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters enables you to create your own “SCORE” like you would in music –allowing yourself to build your quilt to the beat of your own drummer.

The groundbreaking new guide includes “scores” for visual improvisation that allows readers to create unique quilts from a set of parameters, but that will look unlike anyone else’s. Hundreds of quilters submitted “test quilts” for the book and the end result includes just 22.

As I leave for Alaska today –I’m introducing you to the beautiful Improv Handbook, with the goal of piquing your interest in trying your hand at some free-style and free-form piecing!

The photos in this book will truly inspire you.

I LOVE this…it applies to so much more in life than just our quilting --

The quilts themselves are innovative, colorful and phenomenal!  I mean, I’ve always loved string and crumb quilts, improv in their own right, but deeply rooted in tradition.

These quilts go a step or two or three farther:

Lovely color and so much motion!

Bias curve petals!  Isn’t this great?

Loads of color and fun piecing.  And this one is hand quilted!

I wish I could show you all 22 quilts in the book – they are all wonderful!  And not everything is curved:

I really like this color palette.
From Sherri’s Website:

Over 250 people signed on to test quilt the ten scores for The Improv Handbook For Modern Quilters – without visual references. There were 165 quilts completed and submitted for inclusion into the book. These are the test quilt interpretations of the Score for Modern Block Improv.

Improvisation is about repetition and variation and flexible patterning. The Score For Modern Block Improv encourages us to repeat the pattern slightly different each time to expand it’s range. In this instance the Flying Geese block was the starting point.

Click to see the test samples here – they are fabulous!

I will be drawing for one lucky winner to receive a copy of the Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters upon my return home from Alaska!

Leave me a comment in the comments section below to be entered to win.

Small print:

No, you can’t email your comment in, you can’t comment in the guest book, you can’t comment on facebook or instagram…it has to be HERE. On this post.  So I can use the random number generator to choose our lucky winners.  It’s only fair that way!

If you are a blogger or google user, PLEASE check your profile to make sure your email address is visible and I can reach you.  If there is no email address on your profile I have to choose someone else.

If you are commenting as anonymous you must leave your name and your email address so I can reach you.

When in doubt, just please leave your email address!  It’s that simple!

If you are reading us on an iphone or ipad after clicking a link in facebook you must open this page in a new browser or safari window before you can comment.  Your device still thinks you are in facebook even though you do not think you are.

If you still see the blue bar at the top of your screen…trust me. You are still in facebook!

Same goes for Blog-lovin.  Get OUT of blog-lovin and view our page directly.

You can’t always comment while reading in a blog reader service.  Make sure our address starts with http://quiltville.blogspot.com  If it says something else, get out of there and come to my REAL LIVE page

And most of all…GOOD LUCK!!  I could be drawing YOUR ENTRY!

Also on the blog hop:  Check out what is going on around the blogosphere DAILY:

May 2: Sew Mama Sew – Score for Floating Squares Gallery

As always, I really enjoy your blog entries and I love you quilts. I also would love to win this book. The bias strip petals are of particular interest to me. Thanks for the opportunity.
