The best of the best for me is getting an opportunity to see how YOU interpret my designs, making them your own!
Your fabrics, your colors, your own block sizes!
Here we have two Tumelo Trail quilts from Scraps & Shirttails II, each differently beautiful in their own way.
The one on the left, larger blocks with each block from one color family and white, solid white sashings, no cornerstones..a totally modern uptake on a traditional design!
The one on the right, such a great job using up scraps and playing with the blocks and pieces as she saw fit. I love them both, each reflecting the personality and the scrap stash of the makers!
Show and Share was rapid fire on our guild meeting evening after my presentation!
There were several Celtic Solstices in attendance.
Each one breathtaking and a feat of determination and focused sewing!
This one belongs to Ruthie, on the left. She’s been doing Quiltville Mysteries since the beginning and brought the VERY FIRST to share:
Carolina Crossroads!
Carolina Crossroads was our very first, and a mystery by FLUKE! I had made a post about some rail blocks I was sewing and asked folks to guess what it might be, and it wasn’t long before folks were asking sizes, and piece counts and could they sew along too – and our first mystery was born. Carolina Crossroads is found in my first book Scraps & Shirttails.
Christmas Lights!
Christmas Lights is another earlier Mystery, and was featured in Quiltmaker Magazine several years back. You will find the 3 part mystery under the Free Patterns tab at the top of the blog, down in the mystery quilt section at the bottom of the page.
For hexie lovers!
This show and share quilt is antique, made in wool, is English paper pieced, and there are still papers inside – many containing bits of writing from letters, cards, notes. What a treasure!
Pieces from the front!
((I know you want to touch it! It’s very wooly!!))
Pieces from the BACK!
It looked like these hexies were originally squares and formed around the paper…it is HEAVY. The seam allowances were so large that they fill the entire back side of the hexie covering the paper.
This isn’t something you would ever want to quilt…too heavy. But what a labor of love, a feat of resourcefulness in repurposing the wool fabric left from clothing, and making something so beautiful.
There were SO MANY wonderful quilts shown that I am going to slip them all into a slide show for you to enjoy!

You will claim your sewing station in the huge conference room area of the ship, the FREEDOM of the seas and it will be your work station for the entirety of the cruise.
Together we will focus our time on ONE PROJECT (yet to be determined) and there will be no moving around of classrooms. One project! Your own sewing space! And ME!
Of course we do have ports of call –and that is nice too! CoCo Cay, Bahamas, St Thomas, and St Maarten! Click the Caribbean Cruise 2015 tab for more info!

What an incredible collection of beautiful quilts! That was some show & tell! I am in awe!
Was so happy to share my quilts with Bonnie at Show and Share in Lafayette! I purposely made Wild Child and Mad City Mama to use up some tiny pieces from my stash. If you have an abundance of 2 1/2" strips I recommend you make a Scrappy Trips quilt. It was a fun and fast quilt to make. Couldn't wait to see what the next block was going to look like!
True confessions time. I always loved Bonnie and her designs, but hadn't gone fully into the Scrap USERS system. I was a scrap hoarder; I would start by going through my scrap drawers, sorted by colors, and sift through pulling out pieces that could be cut to the appropriate size. Then, I would go to yardage and supplement with additional strips. I didn't realize how much time I was wasting, cutting as I went. Now, I can see how much more productive it is to have only one or two cuts to make from a pre-cut strip, abnd start sewing right away. That doesn't even mention that older scraps don't reside for years in my scrap SAVERS storage system. With Bonnie's methods, the oldies but goodies move on up and out into a lovely scrappy project. My winter project therefore, will be cutting those SAVED scrap fabrics into useful strips for speedier sewing. Thanks so much, Bonnie. Loved being in your class, and so wonderful to see you again.
Show and tell is such fun! I love it even if it adds to the list of quilts I need to do NEXT. For now I'll stick with the two I started and the MYSTERY QUILT!
