We had a great show and share of drool-worthy quilts during the two days I spent in McKinney, TX last week!
Don’t you know that THIS Hexie-Love stopped me in my tracks?
It’s being worked much like a “Boston Commons” pattern – with a center of random scraps of everything, framed in rounds of neutrals ---more darks will be added outside of the neutrals, and more neutrals outside of that and so forth – until the pattern is complete and the quilt is the size the maker determines it to be!
Take a look at the size held up by its maker here:
Beautiful!
It’s been a take a long project! I’m always amazed at what can be accomplished in found moments of time.
Scrappy Trips in Progress!
Scrappy Trips is well under way, with a common center strip of white in each block to bring forth the chain effect. These are all 30’s prints and it is a wonderful scrappy splash of color!
Scrappy Trips can be found under the free patterns tab at the top of the blog. I just love her pose…She’s having a great time, can’t you tell?
Sister’s Choice for a Cure!
We were laughing at the story of how this quilter was making Sister’s Choice for her sister who was undergoing treatment for cancer ---RIGHT UNDER her nose..and she never guessed it was for her!
Blocks are signed with messages of hope and healing ---and today our quilter’s sister is cancer fee!
The pattern for Sister’s Choice is another one found under the free patterns tab at the top of the blog.
Little logs!! What’s not to love!?
Bricks in the Barnyard all from recycled plaids!
The pattern for Bricks in the Barnyard is found in Scraps & Shirttails II – I love ANYTHING in a “Barn Raising” layout, don’t you? There is such a great collection of recycled shirts in this one.
Another Bricks in the Barnyard – just needing borders!
This was one of our classes when I taught in McKinney last year, and it is always fun to see the quilts coming back in either TOP DONE status, or even as a fully pieced, quilted and bound quilt. This one used “LONGHORN ORANGE” as its constant ---College ties run strong in Texas!
Mai Tais in Paradise Double Take!
Bartender, pour me a double! Both of these lovely ladies were on our Caribbean Cruise a couple of years ago and got their quilts completed to share with us in class! BEAUTIFUL work ladies! You’ll find the pattern for Mai Tai’s in Paradise in a previous issue of Quiltmaker (I’m away from home so I can’t find the issue right now!) and it will be making an appearance in a future book down the pipeline.
Virginia Bound Times Too!
Virginia bound from Scraps & Shirttails was another class we taught last year, and here we are a year later, and the quilts are done! One of the gals stated that this was her “Favorite Quilt EVER!!” And I can see why ---all those scraps hold memories of the last umpteen years she’s been quilting ! Can you see that their block quarters are arranged differently? I bet you have to look twice! The quilt on the right has half stars round the outside edge of the top before the inner border…The one on the left has full stars. OPTIONS!!
String Spider Web!
Talk about using EVERYTHING! Strings, crumbs, leftover triangles, and ends of strip sets –sew it all up and set it with PURPLE….You’ll find the free pattern for String Spider Web also at the top of the blog under the free patterns tab. Lovely, ladies! Thanks for bringing them!
Scrappy Bargello!
Yep, it’s up there – Free Patterns Tab! Got 2-1/2” strips? this is the perfect way to use them and nothing HAS to match ---I love how the black inner border stops everything before the outer braid border comes to finish everything off.
Here’s another, just to top status and waiting for borders:
So much awesomeness all in one place!
Strip-Twist!
If there are ANY 2-1/2” strips left from your Scrappy Bargello, you can scroll down the free patterns tab to find Strip Twist (Because things are listed alphabetically under there!) and make THIS one! So Easy it should be illegal, and gorgeous no matter what you put in it – the more the better!
I just love the show and share time during my workshops –it lets me see what you’ve been up to behind the scenes –and I get to sit back and enjoy the show.
Thank you so much everyone for sharing what you did and inspiring us all!
Speaking of show and share-- have you checked out yesterday's Mystery Monday Link-Up since it was posted? Click HERE! There is oodles and gobs of good stuff there, each quilt SO different!
Dad has an appointment – I’m left home alone. The sun is shining. My tennies are going on and I’m putting the ear-buds in my ears and heading out for a long walk ---
I’ll try not to feel too guilty about those in the snow zone ---

I hope you enjoyed your walk! It's far too cold here. It's -18F with the windchill here. -28C. No buses or school for 3 days now..... which is OK with me since I drive school bus. I'd rather be safe and warm lol
Fabulous quilts. Very busy ladies indeed. Hope the walk was therapeutic! Gets the little gray cells working I think.
Unfair! Not enough time and I want to make every one of these quilts!
