Dec 9, Quilt-Cam!

This is Tineke’s Kitty!

What  character!

Tina writes:

Hi Bonnie,
here's my kitty Eris, preventing me from quilting :D
Hugs,

Tineke
I think Eris could prove to be quite the experienced ‘Quilt Inspector!’

He’s certainly got an eye for it….even if they are half closed and he’s sleeping on the job!  ((Is it a he? or a she? I don’t know from the name because it isn’t a popular name where I live!))

He’s also very adept at helping Tineke Free-Motion machine quilt!

tineke2

Eris, closely inspecting Tineke’s stitches!

There are only about 10 Moth in the Window blocks waiting to be finished – and I can start putting this quilt together.

I know it seems like it has been dragging, but it’s mostly been a Quilt-Cam project and I’m happy to say that even working on it just while on Quilt Cam has helped to keep me focused on it and it is that much closer to being done!  I’d like to have this into a top before New Year’s hits – so guess what I’m working on again today?

You guessed it!  Moth in the Window blocks!

Let's Sew!

You can leave a comment in the comment section below, or leave one in the guest book by clicking the blue guest book button in the left hand side bar, While I can't answer them all ---I do pick randomly and try to answer questions and comments as I sew!

Hello Bonnie,
Did mean to give you a scare. The malware was from a Badge for a swap. It was removed, I am safe now. Thanks to my fellow podcaster who found the cause.

Hi Bonnie and quilters from Europe.

Finished step 3 last night and am now sewing my granddaughter's stuffed dog that was eviscerated by a real dog. It was a tragedy. But he can be restuffed.

Hey, Bonnie! I'm so excited for the third day running of quilt cam. Thank you so much for sharing your sewing time with us. I'm hoping to finish sewing the second sky section on my flying geese during quilt cam today. I'm finding it really hard to keep up with the mystery, but I'm having so much fun with it! I can't wait to see what we make.

I'm wondering if it's bad to use cotton blends in a quilt. I was given a few shirts that are not 100% cotton, and I'm not sure what would happen if I tried to quilt with them. The rest of my fabric is 100% cotton.

Hello Bonnie,
It is snowing here in Iowa. Just finished the last blocks of the 3rd clue of the mystery. Will probably do some organizing this afternoon. Having a little difficulty with the feed today on quilt cam. Looking forward to the link-up tomorrow. Always nice to have someone to 'talk' to when I am working.

Valerie said...

Yep. I had to totally shut down and start over. Still not getting the feed, except hit and miss, on quilt cam page or ustream page. Will wait to see if it straightens up...

Hi Bonnie, from wintry Central Alberta...Love the Quilting Kitty. My ol' guy, Diesel (11) also loves to sit on the portion of the quilt that's not under the needle...while I am trying to free-motion. Pookie (6 months) tries to chase the needle. No time for photos as I try to keep her from getting it through her paw!

Valerie said...

Hmmm now ustream page says "off air".

Hi Bonnie,

I am joining from Trondheim, Norway. I am working on Easy Street and just completed part 1 and 2. Started to cut pieces for part 3 tonight.
I am glad you liked the pictures of the vintage sewing machine I spotted in my local thrift store.
Today I also basted a twin sized quilt for my son in college, and will quilt it tomorrow.

I have some moth in the window blocks to work on and I'm also tryig to come up with a different scrappy log cabin design. Love working along with you.

Hi Bonnie from sunny warm Florida, 81 degrees, last night's quilt cam I finished another 65 blocks for Mr Grey Bowtie, total of 265 done so far, today I am going to cut more grey backgrounds, then I need to ....**gulp** clean up my sewing room some, no door frames to smash my fingers in, I hope I think it was Alice, her finger feels better today.
Love the quilt draped over the frame. Is this one yours?

Great to join you again for some sewing. I've never made a mystery quilt before but have decided to take the plunge with EASY STREET, I'm waiting for some grey to arrive so this evening I'm cutting strips for the flying geese, have never made these before so this should be fun!
Big hugs from Gisele, in Jersey, UK

Have a couple of pile of "matchsticks" paired up and ready to run through the machine. Your were right on it working up quickly! Should have it together in a couple of days. Snipping the outer edge of my, hopefully, last rag quilt for Hurricane Sandy relief! Three of those in a month is a bit much! So, time to snip, snip, snip!

Do you think you can give us a hint as to what colors we will be using next on the Easy Street quilt? I have all three steps done and would like to get the fabrics all ironed and primed to cut!

Thanks for spending Sunday afternoon with us!

Hello Bonnie,

Good to see you again. I just bought some of my fabrics today for Easy Street but I'm not happy with two of them, one is that I think the fabric is off grain as it didn't press right. The other is the colour.....hmm, think I will need to rethink that fabric as it's in place of your grey in your selection.

I finished up 3 pieced blocks for another quilt top which is a partworks magazine series that all the fabric is provided with the issues and one makes the blocks week by week.

Hi Bonnie, hope you're having a great weekend. Just put my finished Roll, Roll Cotton Boll on the bed. It looks fantastic, I finished putting the binding on it and Tobacco Road the other day. I hope to get working on part 3 of Easy Street today, but cleaning is a necessary thing, so it may be tomorrow. Why does it seem laundry and dirty dishes multiply when I'm not looking? Is this where we put comments for you to read off on QuiltCam? I hope so. I love the sound of your sewing machine! It reminds me of my mom's old Kenmore, which I used to listen to as I was falling asleep as a child... she was set up in the bedroom next to mine and she'd sew after my sister and I went to bed. Such a comforting sound!

I'm working on a quilt made from shirts right now, it's a memory quilt for a client whose father-in-law died recently... this is a gift for her husband. I love making quilts like this. :) Thanks for letting us sew along with you!

Hi Bonnie - this is Paula in Omaha. Cold, blustery and windy but no snow yet. Going to start sewing together my zillion bow ties this week. Did you put yours together completely random, or did you group the colors at all. I am thinking about putting 4 blues together, then 4 greens and to lay them out semi-organzied so the colors move from one to another. What do you think? thanks for your opinion.

Hi Bonnie! Thanks again for sharing time with us!!! Just wondering if anyone else is having trouble accessing your blog lately. I came into my office to work on my quilting.... we've got a HUGE big table that is easier than anything I have at home for my large cutting & sewing tasks. Listening to you while I work...

Oh I LOVE Charlie Brown cartoons. My favorite was when Pig Pen had a bath.. he was so clean he shown like a star...then he came out on his front stoop and the dirt just leapt up on him, covering him completely.... I can totally relate.
I remember the 50th anniversary of the start of the cartoon... His first cartoon was October 21, 1950, Treasures all. Thanks for Quiltcam today! Becky G in Winston

Heather, I have found that if I try to sign on right when Bonnie starts, it take forever. I always give up and come back after she's been on for awhile. I'm guessing when everyone is accessing her stream, it clogs up. Imagine... over 500 trying to log on!
Not sure why it would take so long after folks have already gotten on...
